Spring Breeze Twenty Years
Chapter 1122 Not Allowed to Talk
Chapter 1122 Not Allowed to Talk
After leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau and getting into the car, Xiaowei took the marriage certificate and looked at it, feeling a bit emotional.
From childhood to adulthood, from the county town to the provincial capital, the two of them have come a long way together and finally achieved their happy ending.
Memories flooded my mind. When I first came to Fengtian, my biggest wish was to build a house, marry Xiaohong, and live a peaceful life with my family in the house.
Time flies, and several years have passed. I have achieved unimaginable success and finally received this certificate.
Xiao Hong probably knew what Xiao Wei was thinking, so she reached out and ruffled his hair. Xiao Wei then kissed Xiao Hong's hand.
"Shame on you." Beibei looked at Xiaohong and Xiaowei a little shyly: "Daddy kissing Mommy, it's embarrassing."
Xiao Hong laughed and hugged Bei Bei, tickling her armpits.
"Help! Daddy, save me!" Beibei struggled while laughing, her laughter drifting out of the car window.
……
After obtaining their marriage certificate, Xiaowei's mother and Aunt Wang began making arrangements for the wedding.
After discussion among the whole family, the wedding date was set for November 25th.
Xiaowei wasn't really keen on having a wedding ceremony; he wanted to travel with Xiaohong. But now that Xiaohong works for the government, it won't be as convenient for her to travel and explore the world.
But not having a wedding isn't an option either. It's inappropriate not to invite people from all walks of life—company, relatives, friends, and social circles—to celebrate a wedding. It might even leave a bad taste in someone's mouth.
Xiaowei and Xiaohong had no choice but to compromise.
At the end of October, Xiaohong started her honeymoon and sat on the sofa with Xiaowei, heads touching, discussing how to send out invitations.
"Should we invite Uncle Chen and Aunt Chen?"
"I'm afraid he won't have time to come? Okay, send it out, it's the thought that counts. Governor Li will receive one, and Secretary Wei will also receive one separately. I guess Secretary Wei is the one representing him."
"In my unit, please invite the director and deputy director. There's no need to send invitations to the others; I'll just give them a verbal invitation."
"Will your department head invite you?"
"I'm not familiar with him. The boss has changed, and so have all the subordinates. I still don't know this one; I've only met him twice."
"Never mind then. The Secretary-General should be invited. Should the Secretary-General invite the Provincial Party Committee as well? Let's invite them."
"The military region will issue one copy. Don't invite anyone else, just the leaders of the military region; I can't remember their names. Commander Hu of the artillery division should also receive one. Brother Hou, do you need this?"
"How many are from the Public Security Bureau?"
"One copy is fine too, please, leaders. Just tell Director Qin and Uncle Li. The Supervision Department will issue one separately, after all, I'm still one of them."
"What about the city or district level?"
"The Party Secretary and Mayor need to be invited separately, but we can forget about the others. We definitely need to invite the district officials."
"What about the other cities?"
Xiao Wei scratched his face, looked at Xiao Hong and said, "It seems rather impolite not to invite them, but inviting them is also difficult. Imagine if all the secretaries and mayors from all the cities under our jurisdiction came to our wedding—what would that look like? Even a provincial meeting wouldn't have this many people attending!"
Xiao Hong said, "We still have to invite them. But even if we do, they might not come; they're too busy."
Xiao Wei asked, "So, should we invite people from Jibei? Or Longjiang?"
Xiao Hong paused for a moment, then laughed and flopped onto the sofa: "A big dinner for the main leaders of the three northeastern provinces, it's really turned into a conference! If they all come, we'll probably become famous, maybe even the central government will find out." She sat up abruptly and said seriously, "I don't think this is a good thing."
Xiao Wei nodded and said, "I also feel it's not a good idea. But you know, it wouldn't be right not to send out invitations. But sending them out is also a hassle. Why don't we ask Uncle Chen?"
Xiao Hong checked the time and said, "Let's call Aunt Chen. Uncle Chen might not have time right now."
Xiao Wei took the phone and called Aunt Chen.
"Auntie, it's me, Xiaowei. Are you free right now?"
Aunt Chen said, "No rush, tell me what you need to say."
Xiao Wei explained the situation and his thoughts, and Aunt Chen laughed and said, "A good thing that others can only dream of has become a worry for you. Send out the invitations as usual, don't leave anyone out, understand?"
Your current social standing is enough to support you in being friends with these people; it's not about currying favor. Therefore, you must pay even more attention to these small details. Don't you understand the importance of propriety? The rest is not your concern; you're overthinking it.
Who are these people? They don't understand what's going on, and they have well-established procedures for handling things. Even if everyone actually comes, although that's unlikely, it won't affect you much.
Now that you're financially stable and working for a foreign company, there's no need to worry too much. This is a legitimate way to showcase your connections and influence; everyone understands. Send it. Don't mail it; have it delivered to your door.
Xiao Wei said, "Okay, I understand. Auntie, are you and my uncle coming back? I'd like to ask him to officiate our wedding."
Aunt Chen said, "Yes, I'll definitely answer. Don't worry."
After hanging up the phone, Xiaowei said, "Come on in, everyone. Get me a pen."
Xiao Hong tossed the notebook at me: "Look at how smug you are. You can't hold back your pride. Go and sort things out in this notebook first."
Xiao Wei's mother came over, wiping her hands: "Have you decided yet? Who are you inviting?"
Xiao Hong said, "We have to invite them all. Mom, just wait and see, it's a big gathering of the main officials from the three northeastern provinces. There are a whole bunch of ministerial-level officials alone."
Xiaowei's mother didn't believe it at all. She checked the time and said, "Go pick up Beibei, we'll deal with it when we get back."
Xiao Wei checked the time, stood up to get his coat, and said, "Xiao Hong, you get ready first, I'll put on my coat when I get back." He then went out to drive to the kindergarten to pick up the two children.
The government-run kindergarten was located on Zhongshan Road at the time, but it was later closed.
In the 90s, government units at the provincial, municipal, and district levels were concentrated in the Heping and Shenhe area, and there were countless government agencies and kindergartens. Later, most of them disappeared, closed down, or were renamed and handed over to lower-level units for operation and management.
When we arrived at the kindergarten, we waited at the gate for more than ten minutes. The children were dismissed and began to line up and walk out under the guidance of their teachers.
Xiao Wei looked around and saw that there were quite a few people picking up their children, with more than ten cars, all of which belonged to their workplaces.
After waiting for a while, I saw Beibei and her classmates holding hands, lining up, and carrying their little backpacks as they came out.
When Beibei saw Xiaowei, she smiled, called out, and ran over. Xiaowei reached out and picked her up: "What did you learn today?"
Beibei said, "Reciting poems still counts."
Xiao Wei tidied her hair and suddenly noticed a small bloodstain on the bridge of her nose. He looked closer and asked, "Beibei, is your nose bleeding?"
Beibei pouted and nodded.
Xiao Wei asked, "How did this happen?" This child had never had any problems with this since coming to our home, and had never had a nosebleed before.
I checked my body again and found no blood, which meant I hadn't lost much blood.
Beibei lowered her eyes, a little hesitant. This child is sensitive and timid; her expression clearly showed fear and worry.
Xiao Wei said, "Tell Dad how you did it? Isn't Beibei a good girl?"
Beibei nodded: "Yes. Beibei is a good child."
Xiao Wei said, "Good children should tell their fathers the truth, right?"
Beibei nodded again, fidgeting with her fingers as she said hesitantly, "But, but the teacher said we can't say it. We have to listen to the teacher."
Xiao Wei frowned: "Why wouldn't the teacher let you say it? Was it another child who hit you?"
