Spring Breeze Twenty Years

Chapter 1220 Daddy's incubating me

Chapter 1220 Daddy's incubating me

I played around with Beibei in the pavilion for a while.

The fish in the pond swam slowly, and they had all grown quite a bit, occasionally showing their dorsal fins above the water.

The ducks at home floated motionless on the water like plastic models.

The big yellow dog lay close to Xiaowei's legs, occasionally glancing up at Xiaowei and Beibei.

Because of the wall, the wind in the yard was not strong. The trees in the yard had all grown taller, and their tops had extended beyond the wall. The new leaves at the top swayed in the wind, but unfortunately, the flowering season was over, and the trees looked mottled. The remaining flowers withered and curled up on the branches.

The grass in the woods is already about half a hand's breadth tall, tinged with green. The soil in the flowerbeds in the yard has been freshly turned over, but no seeds have been sown yet. Flowers need to be planted every year, otherwise they'll just grow into a patch of weeds.

There were birds chirping, but no birds were visible. Geese were leisurely swaying their necks by the wall. They had come here to live a comfortable and wonderful life. No one cared about eating them; they were all treated as part of the yard's scenery or as guards.

Beibei patted Xiaowei's hand: "Dad, geese lay eggs too, they're this big and hard, Grandma hid them all."

Xiao Wei asked, "How did you know?"

Beibei raised her little face proudly and said, "I found it. They laid their eggs there, and when I looked, wow, they were huge eggs."

She pointed to the pavilion in the woods.

Unlike chickens, ducks and geese lay their eggs wherever they want without any supervision, often forgetting about them as soon as they turn their backs. Collecting duck and goose eggs in rural areas is a real headache; you have to get up early to check and find any with eggs, then keep them indoors. They also don't incubate them.

Chickens are different. Chickens need a safe, soft, and warm place to lay their eggs, and they will stay in the same place. If you make a nest for them to lay their eggs, they will lay their eggs in it every day and keep a close watch on them. If the eggs go missing, the hen will look for them everywhere. If there are too many eggs in the nest, the hen will incubate them.

So you have to wait until the hen that laid the egg is gone before you go to collect eggs, otherwise you might get a few slaps. You also can't leave too many eggs in the nest, because if the mother hen goes in to incubate them, you can't get her out. She'll immediately turn into a fighting rooster and dare to fight even a big wolfhound.

Only hen that have been raised and are familiar with their own kind will protest a few times when you try to touch the eggs in the nest, but they won't put up a strong resistance.

Xiao Wei gently put Bei Bei's little hands back inside his clothes and wrapped them up again: "Did you eat the goose egg?"

Beibei shook her head: "No, Grandma won't let us eat them." She pouted and glanced helplessly at Xiaowei: "Grandma said we have to save them up, and if we save enough, we'll see if we can hatch goslings. Daddy, can I hatch goslings?"

Xiao Wei asked, "Do you know how to hatch them?"

Beibei said, "Yes, Grandma said it's like this, you hold the egg against your belly like this, and then the gosling will come out. You have to hold it for quite a few days."

Xiao Wei said, "Then how are you going to go to school? Aren't you going?"

Beibei frowned and thought for a moment, then said, "Then I'll wait until summer, when I'm on vacation, to hatch them. Then I won't have to go to school. Mommy's back! Mommy, Daddy's back!"

Xiao Wei looked up at the gate, where Xiao Hong was getting out of the car and looking over. She picked up Bei Bei's little hand and waved.

Xiao Hong straightened her clothes, picked up her bag, and walked over. Her belly was indeed showing, but not quite.

"You naughty baby, you don't want Mommy anymore now that Daddy's back, do you? You didn't even come to pick me up."

"Hehe, no, Mom, Dad and I are sitting here to pick you up. We're waiting for you. Dad's hatching me." She pulled Xiaowei's clothes tighter and curled up into a ball.

"When did you arrive? Why didn't you call me?" Xiao Hong pinched Bei Bei's cheek and asked Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei said, "I arrived at noon and fell asleep on the sofa. She had to wake me up. You can still drive by yourself, right? Why don't you hire a driver?"

Xiaohong said, "It's alright, but it will probably be more difficult if I go too far in a few days. I plan to start my maternity leave in July and stay for a year."

Xiao Wei asked, "Is that okay? A year? What if I come back and my job is gone?"

Xiao Hong put down her bag and sat down next to Xiao Wei, saying, "How could that be? It's just that there's no chance for promotion. Anyway, I wouldn't have this opportunity if I didn't have it. I have to wait it out. I took a year of maternity leave, and that's a year gone. If I wait two more years, I'll reach the hurdle. Isn't that great?"

Xiao Wei nodded and said, "Just make the arrangements and keep it in mind. Why don't you all go to Kyoto in July and spend a month there?"

Beibei asked, "Daddy, Kyoto, where is Kyoto?"

Xiao Wei said, "It's a bit far, but your father Chen's younger brother lives there, so you can play with him again."

Beibei asked, "Then, is Xia Gensheng going?"

Xiao Wei said, "If we're going, we'll all go."

Beibei nodded: "Okay, everyone's going. If Dad, Xia Gensheng, is riding in our car, you need to bring a plastic sheet, don't forget."

Xiao Wei glanced at Xiao Hong and asked Bei Bei curiously, "Why?"

Beibei wrinkled her little nose: "He pooped in the car, it smelled awful."

Xiao Hong said, "Xia Gensheng's stomach got cold those two days, and he had diarrhea. Old Xia held him in the car and he pooped there, with Bei Bei watching."

Xiao Wei smiled and said to Bei Bei, "Xia Gensheng is sick, he didn't do it on purpose."

Beibei blew her little hand in front of her nose: "It stinks. It got all over Daddy Xia, and he said he was about to throw up."

Xiao Wei asked, "Did he throw up?"

Beibei shook her head: "No, I'm holding back. Mom Xia, Grandma." She waved her little hand and called out, and Geng Hui and Aunt Wang came over from the door carrying bags.

Aunt Wang laughed and answered loudly, "Xiao Wei's back! When did you arrive?"

Geng Huichong nodded to Xiaowei, touched Beibei's little face, and asked Xiaohong, "Why are you back so early today?"

Xiao Hong glared at her: "My love."

Geng Hui smiled, pursing her lips.

Xiao Wei said, "I arrived before noon and took a nap."

Aunt Wang sat down and asked, "Is everything settled over there? Zhang Fu, what are your plans for this?"

Xiaowei said, "There's nothing much going on over there, just keep building. After Xiaohong and I get back from the city, Xiaohui and I will go to Shanghai to check things out. We can't be sure we've been scammed yet; what if Xiaofu didn't do something right? That's possible. I'll go find out first. Anyway, we can't just let this money go to waste."

Aunt Wang nodded and said, "Okay, I'll help you with that. It's over 200,000 yuan. Your uncle is really angry; he's quite upset. This Zhang Fu is too audacious. He needs to be beaten to a pulp. How can this kid be so bold?"

Xiao Hong said, "It's a good thing, 200,000 isn't too much. Now Auntie knows what's going on with him, and she definitely can't spoil him like before. He'll definitely earn more and more money in the future. No way, things are even more uncertain later on."
