Spring Breeze Twenty Years

Chapter 322 I Want Two

Chapter 322 I Want Two

Xiao Wei said, "Besides mung bean curd, which is not common, where else can't we find it?"

Xiao Hong pouted and said, "Yeah, we eat pretty much the same things in Northeast China. Do you have any clay pot dishes?"

Xiao Wei shook his head and said, "I didn't see it. How about we go a bit further to the riverbank to eat? Do they have seafood for breakfast?"

Xiao Hong tied her hair up, turned her head back and forth to look around, and said, "Never heard of them. Have they gotten up yet?"

Xiaowei flopped onto the bed and said, "By the time they get up, it'll probably be noon. I'm too embarrassed to wake them. Aren't pregnant women supposed to be able to sleep all the time?"

Xiao Hong said, "Anyway, we have nothing else to do, let them sleep. Come on, let's go out to eat. I want to eat braised meat too. You didn't even bring me any, I'll bite you to death." She bit Xiao Wei on the lips.

Xiao Wei chuckled a few times, then was pulled down by Xiao Hong to have breakfast with her. The girl bought a portion of mung bean curd and went to eat a bowl of Jincheng ramen. "Hey girl, where's your Andong specialty?" she said. "This is Gansu-style, okay?" After finishing her ramen, she shoved the mung bean curd into Xiao Wei's hand and then ran off to buy two oven-baked flatbreads.

Yes, hanging oven pancakes are a Northeastern Chinese snack, first appearing in 1908. They became famous after being moved from Taonan in Jilin Province to Fengtian (Shenyang) 50 years later, but the inventor was actually from southern Henan. Xiao Wei always thought that the person from southern Henan probably tried to make a traditional Henan-style oven-baked flatbread, but likely didn't know how and just made a mess of it, resulting in a hanging oven pancake instead. But it's very delicious.

They ate the oven-baked flatbread as they walked, but it was too salty—it was salted. So they went into a small shop and had a bowl of soy milk and half a fried dough stick. Xiao Hong was finally full, while Xiao Wei was stuffed; Xiao Hong had eaten most of his food. The two of them held hands and strolled around for a while to digest before returning to the guesthouse.

It's almost nine o'clock, and those two still haven't gotten up.

Xiao Wei sat there with his camera on Gudao Island, while Xiao Hong leaned over and watched. Suddenly, she asked, "Brother Guizi, can you make a sunset look like a sunrise?"

Xiao Wei paused for a moment, then looked at Xiao Hong and asked, "What are you doing? Why are you making the sunset look like a sunrise?"

Xiao Hong sighed and said, "When we go out to play in the future, we definitely have to watch the sunrise. You see, the books say that Huangshan, Taishan, and the sea are all places to watch the sunrise, but do you think we can watch the sunrise with these two pigs following us? But we still have to take some pictures, right?"

Xiaowei felt that Xiaohong's words made a lot of sense, and he was speechless.

Xiao Hong pouted and said, "Luckily, they won't be able to go anywhere soon. Oh, I feel like I'm about to be free. These two kids are really exhausting."

Xiaowei glanced at Xiaohong and said, "Then why are you always with her? You should stay away from her."

Xiao Hong said, "Why should I stay away from them if I don't care? I just wanted to vent to you, so what? Is that a problem? Is that a problem?" She poked Xiao Wei repeatedly with her hand, and Xiao Wei laughed and bent over to dodge. The two of them started joking around.

Xiao Hong wrapped her arms around Xiao Wei's neck and clung to him affectionately, asking, "Xiao Wei, is being pregnant hard?"

Xiaowei said, "How would I know? I've never been pregnant. Everyone says pregnancy is tiring and a real ordeal."

Xiao Hong thought for a moment and said, "Then what should I do? I don't want to suffer."

Xiao Wei held Xiao Hong with one hand and placed the camera a little further away and steady with the other, saying, "Then we don't want it. If you don't want it, we don't have to."

Xiao Hong swayed slightly and said, "No, I want to play with the baby too. It's so much fun, all white and tender."

Xiao Wei paused for a moment, looked down at the little girl's rosy cheeks, and said, "Having babies is just for fun?"

Xiao Hong was a little embarrassed and turned her face away, saying, "Yeah, you can play with it for years, it's so much fun, you can do whatever you want with it."

Xiao Wei asked, "What happens when they grow up? Do you just get another one and keep playing with them?"

Xiao Hong turned to look at Xiao Wei and said, "Isn't it only allowed to have one child?"

Xiao Wei said, "If you want to have a child, then have one. We'll just pay the fine."

Xiao Hong held up two fingers and said, "Then I want two, one girl and one boy. The girl is like a warm cotton-padded jacket, and the boy is for you to play with."

Xiao Wei was amused by Xiao Hong and laughed heartily. Just as he was laughing, the door was opened and Chen Xiao, with disheveled hair, walked in: "Hey, what are you two doing? Getting all excited in broad daylight? Should I go out?" He didn't seem to have any intention of leaving and strode in to sit on the stool.

Xiao Hong sat up from Xiao Wei's lap and moved closer to the edge of the bed, saying, "You two are like pigs! It's been so frustrating playing with you guys. From now on, you two can go wherever you want, and Xiao Wei and I will play by ourselves. We've been hiding in the room waiting for you guys all day, honestly. Are you hungry?"

Chen Xiao rolled her eyes and said nonchalantly, "I'm not hungry, let's just have lunch later. I dreamt I climbed Phoenix Mountain last night, do you think I really can't go up there?"

Xiao Hong glared at Chen Xiao and said, "You came from the foot of the mountain yesterday. Didn't you see how steep it was? The upper half was all big rocks with not a blade of grass. If you're not afraid of getting hurt, go ahead and climb. You're like a madwoman all day." She got out of bed, grabbed a thermos, and filled half a basin with warm water for Chen Xiao to wash her face, saying, "Is your Chen Hui still sleeping? He's finally awake, and I have to take care of you."

Chen Xiao stood up to wash her face and said, "He went out to eat. He was hungry and woke up from hunger."

After Chen Xiao finished washing her face and getting ready, Chen Hui came in, eating a few oven-baked flatbreads as he spoke, saying, "These oven-baked flatbreads are delicious, Xiao, would you like one?"

Chen Xiao picked up a piece of food and started eating it, saying, "Where are we going for lunch? What are we eating?"

Chen Hui reached out and wiped the crumbs from Chen Xiao's mouth, saying, "Let's eat seafood. What are we eating here? Afterwards, let's go for a stroll in the riverside park and take a boat ride."

Xiao Hong turned to Xiao Wei and asked, "Is it okay to eat seafood while pregnant?"

Xiao Wei was stunned for a moment and said, "How should I know? I've been pregnant before!"

Xiao Hong turned to look at Chen Hui, who looked at Xiao Hong and then turned to Chen Xiao: "Is it edible?"

Xiao Wei sighed, stood up, put on his shoes, went downstairs to the front desk of the guesthouse, paid five yuan, and made a phone call home. It rang for a long time but no one answered. The home phone was in the living room, but Xiao Wei's parents rarely came to the living room, so they couldn't hear it ringing.

He dialed the number, thought for a moment, and then dialed the restaurant again.

"Hey? Jubinge Hotel." A female voice rang out; it was Ding Chunyan, the new waitress.

Xiao Wei said, "Chunyan, it's me, Xiao Wei. Are you busy right now?"

Ding Chunyan said, "Not busy, just one table at lunchtime today. Is there something you need, boss?"

Xiao Wei said, "Tell Sister Zhang to answer the phone." Ding Chunyan put down the phone and strode out. After a while, Sister Zhang answered the phone: "What's up, boss?"

Xiao Wei said, "Sister Zhang, Xiao Hong, Chen Hui, and I are in Andong. We wanted to ask you, is it okay to eat seafood while pregnant?"

Sister Zhang's voice immediately rose eight octaves: "Xiao Hong is pregnant?"

Xiao Wei said, "No, no, it's Chen Hui's wife who's pregnant, she's over four months along, and they're asking if she can eat seafood."

Sister Zhang's voice immediately dropped: "Oh, you scared me. Seafood is okay to eat a little, but eat less fish and more shrimp. Just don't eat crab. Remember that, crab is too cold in nature, you can't eat even a bite."

Xiao Wei asked, "Where are the mantis shrimp?"

Sorry for the lateness. The temperature has dropped these past few days, it's been so cold, and my neck is killing me with pain. As a result, I can't type much at all; I have to get up and move around and rest every now and then. I'm trying to adjust.
