Spring Breeze Twenty Years
Chapter 366 Construction Hall
Chapter 366 Construction Hall
Xiao Wei knocked on the door and entered the house. He saw Old Chen glance at him normally, but sweat appeared on Uncle Wang's forehead. Aunt Wang didn't know what to do with her hands and quickly changed the subject, "Are you busy, Uncle?"
Old Chen put down what he was holding and walked over from behind his desk, saying, "It's always the same old story. These are Xiao Hong's parents? Sit down. Xiao Wei, make some tea for your in-laws. Oh, by the way, Xiao Wei, who's older, me or your father-in-law?"
Uncle Wang said, "Hello, Mr. Chen, I was born in 46."
Old Chen smiled and gestured for Uncle Wang and Aunt Wang to sit down, saying, "Then you'll have to call me 'brother.' I was born in '44, so I'm two years older than you. Xiao Wei, why are you taking so long to make tea? Can't you find the cups?"
Xiao Wei said, "I couldn't find the thermos." Old Chen pointed to the water dispenser in the corner and said, "That's the one. Xiao Hui told me about it. You've been using it longer than me and you don't recognize it?"
Xiao Wei took the tea leaves and teacup to make tea. Old Chen said to Uncle Wang, "Brother, you used to work at the Agricultural Machinery Bureau, right? I remember Xiao Wei mentioning it to me."
Uncle Wang nodded and said, "Yes, Mr. Chen has a really good memory. County Agricultural Machinery Station."
Old Chen waved his hand and said, "You're not as good as those two kids. Your daughter and son-in-law aren't afraid of me at all. Don't be nervous. We're practically family. I'm older than you, so call me 'brother.' When you move in, we can drop by and have a drink together. How are we supposed to get along if you're like this?"
Xiao Wei brought over the teacups and placed them in front of the three people as they sat down, saying, "My uncle has never seen such a high-ranking official before. He'll definitely have to admire him first and then gradually get used to it. Uncle Chen, don't mind him." Old Chen reached out and slapped Xiao Wei on the head, laughing as he said, "Did you hear that? Even my Xiao Hui wouldn't dare talk to me like that. Haha, little brother, I really envy you. You're quite the son-in-law."
Uncle Wang glanced at Xiao Wei and said, "Who would have thought? He used to be so honest and reliable. Who would have thought he would suddenly become so lively? Sometimes it feels like a dream."
Old Chen laughed and handed a cigarette to Uncle Wang: "Here, this cigarette is pretty good. I can't stand other cigarettes anymore." Uncle Wang wasn't so nervous anymore, took the cigarette and said, "This cigarette is indeed good, the tobacco isn't too strong." He reached out to light it for Old Chen, but Old Chen waved his hand and lit it himself, saying, "Let's not be so polite, don't stand on ceremony. The kids get along well and are true brothers, so we old folks are naturally close. You're not the station chief, and I'm not the bureau chief. When we're together, you're Xiaowei's father-in-law, and I'm Xiaohui's dad, that's fine."
Uncle Wang nodded in agreement, took out his lighter and lit a cigarette. Old Chen said, "Don't rush things with your job. It's not a big deal. But I can't be sure about your specific position. Just start doing it anyway, and we'll adjust gradually. There will always be opportunities, so don't rush."
Uncle Wang smiled and said, "It's really good that you came, Brother Chen. I'm not trying to flatter you, but I'm forty-five this year, which is only a little over ten years old. The main thing is that I only have one daughter, and I was hoping that our family could be together happily in the future. I'm quite content now. Our family's current situation is something we never dared to dream of before. If we weren't content, God would surely send down lightning."
Old Chen laughed and pointed at Xiao Wei, saying, "That's true. With you as my son-in-law, you can just wait to enjoy life. Taking good care of your health is more important than anything else. When you retire, the two of you can travel all over the world, which is better than anything else. What else is there to live for?"
Xiao Wei was a little embarrassed by the praise and asked, "Uncle, how exactly does your job work?"
Old Chen said, "Did you bring the documents? Just go and report it. Then they'll send a document to your county. It's not complicated. It's not a big deal. They don't care about your household registration, grain rations, or cadre relations. Just let them handle it for you."
Old Chen checked the time and said, "You guys should go now. Xiao Wei knows the place, right? Just go straight there and find Director Wang. I have a meeting in a bit, so I won't keep you company. Let's go to Anji for a drink tonight, a get-together between our two families."
Uncle Wang and Aunt Wang hurriedly agreed, stood up to thank them, and took their leave. The four of them then went downstairs and drove to the Provincial Construction Department.
At that time, the Urban Construction Bureau was a subordinate bureau of the Construction Department, in charge of the approval, management and enforcement of urban planning and construction.
When they arrived at the Construction Bureau on City Hall Avenue, Xiaowei drove the car through the large iron gate and found a place to park it. Xiaohong and Aunt Wang waited in the car while Xiaowei accompanied Uncle Wang upstairs to handle his business.
After getting directions from the guardhouse on the first floor, Xiaowei and Uncle Wang went to the director's office on the third floor. Xiaowei knocked on the door and waited quietly for a response. After a while, there was no response. He knocked again, but still no response. Uncle Wang said, "Is he not in the room?"
Xiao Wei looked around and saw that the office a few doors away was open, so he went over there.
Knocking on the open door, Xiao Wei asked, "Excuse me, is Director Wang in right now?"
There were five or six men and women inside, busy with something. A female cadre wearing glasses, closest to the door, turned her head, glanced at them, and asked, "What's going on? What are you doing?"
Xiao Wei said, "I've already made an appointment with Director Wang."
The woman with glasses glanced at Xiao Wei a few times and said, "The director is in a meeting on the fifth floor. Wait a while. There's a reception room at the end of the corridor." She gestured with her hand. Xiao Wei thanked her and returned to Uncle Wang, saying, "He's in a meeting, so wait a bit. She said the reception room is at the end of the corridor. Why don't we go sit for a while?" He pointed to the corridor.
Uncle Wang looked at it and nodded, saying, "Okay, go sit down for a while, I'll have a smoke." The two walked to the end of the corridor. On the right was the floor restroom, and opposite the restroom was an empty office with a sofa and coffee table. The two went in and sat down. Uncle Wang lit a cigarette, and Xiao Wei saw a water dispenser nearby, so he poured Uncle Wang a glass of water and brought it to him.
After waiting for almost an hour, Xiao Wei finally heard footsteps and voices in the corridor. He ran to the door of the reception room and peeked out. He saw three people walking over. Two of them walked side by side in front, talking, while one followed behind. Then the two of them waved goodbye and separated. The taller one went into an office, while the shorter, fatter one took out his key, opened the director's office, and went in with the person who had followed behind.
Xiao Wei turned to Uncle Wang and said, "Uncle, Director Wang is back."
Uncle Wang stubbed out his cigarette, stood up, straightened his clothes, picked up his backpack, and said, "Let's go. We're all going to get hurt anyway." He took a deep breath, left the reception room, and headed towards the director's office with Xiao Wei.
Xiao Wei knocked on the door, and the person inside said, "Come in." Xiao Wei pushed the door open, stepped aside to let Uncle Wang into the room, and followed behind.
The office is clean and spacious, with a large desk by the window, on which sit three telephones and small national and party flags. Behind it is a full-height bookcase. In the opposite corner, there is a sofa, next to which are classic wooden stools with neatly trimmed plants.
The short man who had just been sitting behind the desk had dark, dyed hair parted in a side part, sharp eyes, and wore a navy blue suit with a red tie and a white shirt. He gave off a very sharp vibe. Sharp indeed.
