Chapter 433 Dried Shrimp Wonton

Chapter 433 Dried Shrimp Wonton

The next morning, before seven o'clock, the train pulled into Fengtian Station, panting heavily.

Before entering the station, the train attendant had been calling out to everyone in the carriages for quite some time. Now everyone had washed up, packed their things, and was waiting to get off the train.

The train pulled into the station, slowed down little by little, and then suddenly shook and creaked a few times before stopping. People who were anxiously holding their luggage and standing in the aisle swayed from side to side.

"Check your things, everyone. Are you all got them?" Xiao Wei asked Chen Hui and the others, looking around. They all nodded to indicate they were, but they all looked particularly listless, clearly having slept poorly. The worst part of traveling by bus is arriving at the station early in the morning.

The crowd moved slowly forward, step by step, until they reached the carriage entrance and disembarked. A gust of cold, damp wind blew against their face, making them shiver involuntarily, but they immediately perked up. Looking around, they realized it was raining.

The rain was light, and the sky was overcast. The air was damp and cold.

Three men surrounded two women and slowly walked with the crowd to the exit. Chen Hui looked at the people with umbrellas outside the iron fence and asked, "What should we do? It's hard to get a taxi in this weather, and there's nowhere to shelter from the rain."

Xiao Wei glanced at his watch and said, "We still need to get out of here first. Go hide in one of the rooms over there for a while, or have something to eat. I'll go back and get the car."

Xia Maosheng rubbed his stomach and said, "I had two bottles of beer, sausages, peanuts, and pancakes last night, so I'm not hungry at all."

Xiao Hong was startled, turned around and looked at Xiao Wei, saying, "Oh no, my sister-in-law forgot her lunchbox in the car. It's all Chen Hui's fault, he said he had oil and put it under the bed." She turned and punched Chen Hui.

Chen Hui grinned and said, "It's my fault, it's my fault. I'll make you one when we get back, okay?"

As the crowd flowed out of the station, the shouts outside were deafening. A middle-aged man sneakily squeezed past a few people and asked, "Want a ride? Where to, buddy?"

Chen Hui looked at him and said, "South Lake, how much?"

The man looked a little disappointed, his eyes darting elsewhere, and he said, "Twenty, get in and we're leaving."

Chen Hui reached out and patted the man on the shoulder, saying, "Alright, buddy, it's raining today, I'll let you earn a little. Here's fifteen, okay?"

The man paused for a moment, looked at Chen Hui, and said, "Buddy, look at this early morning, and it's raining. It's not easy for me to drive, you can't be short of five yuan, right?" He looked at the group and said, "Look at you guys, five people and so many boxes. Damn, even twenty yuan won't be enough, we can't carry all of this."

Chen Hui said, "Fifteen, I'll ride alone. I'll go home and drive. Are you coming or not? Hurry up and run there, and if you come back quickly, you might be able to get another fare. It's only about five or six kilometers round trip."

Xiao Wei said, "Let's bring two more suitcases, otherwise we won't be able to fit them all in the car. I'll go back; my car is a bit more spacious."

Xiao Hong said, "You two go back together. You brought two cars back. Now you have to carry the suitcases upstairs? Hurry up, Geng Hui, Lao Xia, and I are going to have some wontons. Come on, Geng Hui, let me tell you, this pastry shop over here is really delicious. I had some here once last time."

Xia Maosheng said, "Hey, you two are leaving, how am I supposed to carry five boxes all by myself?"

Xiao Hong and Geng Hui ran back laughing. Chen Hui said to Xiao Wei, "Alright, let's go back. One car can't fit them all."

Xiao Wei nodded and said, "Okay, let's go. Where's your car?" He turned to ask the unlicensed taxi driver.

The driver pointed outside the square and said, "Let's go to the roadside. It'll cost twenty for two people."

Chen Hui frowned and said, "Forget it, you go pick up the 20 yuan one. There are plenty of unlicensed taxis out there. I won't take yours, okay?" He pulled Xiao Wei toward the side of the road, where a number of cars were parked haphazardly: Ladas, Volgas, Xiali, Santanas, and even an old Shanghai.

The unlicensed taxi driver looked around and caught up with the car, saying, "Fifteen, fifteen, come on, my car is here."

Because it was raining, Xiaowei and Chen Hui didn't hesitate and got in the car, heading straight for Nanhu. Then the two drove back to the train station.

When the two of them parked the car and found the snack bar, the three of them still hadn't finished a bowl of wontons.

Seeing the two people enter the house, Xiaohong nearly choked on a mouthful of wontons. She swallowed hard and asked, "Didn't you leave, or did you come back?"

Xia Maosheng turned around and said, "You're back. Didn't I see you had your car keys? Want to share a bowl?"

Xiao Wei said, "Why are you all so slow? There aren't many people here."

Xia Maosheng said, "Freshly made, delicious." Xiao Wei and Chen Hui were speechless. Chen Hui said, "Eat quickly. It would be better to go home and make something than this. We should have made something at home before coming over."

Xia Maosheng said, "You don't understand at all. On a drizzly day like this, nothing is more comforting than a bowl of dried shrimp wontons. It's a combination of ambiance and deliciousness. You two are just a pair of rude people."

Xiao Wei said, "Okay, when we get home we'll make something else to eat. I'll cook you a bowl of dried shrimp wontons so you can enjoy them slowly."

Geng Hui ate silently, glanced around, picked up the remaining wontons and put them into Xia Maosheng's bowl, then wiped her mouth as if nothing had happened. Xiao Hong looked at Geng Hui and Xia Maosheng, then turned to Xiao Wei and said, "I'm not eating anymore, you eat."

Xiao Wei said, "If you don't want to eat it anymore, just leave it there."

Xiao Hong looked at the five or six wontons left in the bowl and said, "There are still five or six left. You can eat them. Do you want some or not?" Her eyes widened.

Xiao Wei picked up the bowl, took a spoon, and shoveled five or six wontons into his mouth, even taking a sip of soup. He said, "It's just a couple of bites. I really don't know how you guys can take so long to finish it. Are you reluctant to eat it?"

Xia Maosheng sipped his drink slowly, shaking his head and sighing, as if to say, "You guys don't understand romance."

Xiaohong said, "Actually, we can make some wontons and freeze them. We can cook some whenever we want to eat them. Make some with lots of filling. The ones sold outside don't have much filling."

Xiao Wei nodded and said, "Okay, I'll make some for you when we get back. What kind of filling do you want?"

Xiao Hong licked her lips and said, "Chive and pork, or cilantro and meatballs would be fine too."

Xia Maosheng shook his head and said, "What's the point of having wontons without dried shrimp?"

Chen Hui went to get the suitcase and said, "Let's go, let him show off here by himself." Xiao Hong and Geng Hui laughed and got up to get their things. Xiao Wei took one in each hand, and the four of them left the snack bar and walked towards the car. Xia Maosheng saw that the group had really left, picked up his bowl, quickly scooped the wontons into his mouth, and chased after them.

Several drivers nearby were soliciting passengers. One of them cursed and said, "Damn it, who came this bastard to steal my fares?"
