Spring Breeze Twenty Years

Chapter 558, First Time

Chapter 558 First Time

Xiao Wei looked at Xiao Hong, thought for a moment, and said, "Principal Sun, how about we discuss something? In the future, many of the children of my workers will need to go to school, but some of them will definitely not have their household registration here. You know, getting a household registration isn't easy. If you can help me solve this problem, I'll build you a three-story school building."

Xiao Wei pointed to the old house across the street and said, "Build a three-story house according to the length of that one, and consider it my personal donation to the school."

Principal Sun stared wide-eyed at Xiao Wei: "Are you serious?"

Chen Hui said, "Let's do it in the company's name and build all three sides. We're going to do it anyway, so let's get it done all at once. We can also bring over some sports facilities."

Xiao Wei thought for a moment and said, "Principal Sun, could you please give me your school's blueprints? Do you have them?"

Principal Sun nodded repeatedly: "Yes, yes, wait for me to get it. Oh dear, I don't know what to do. Come, come, sit in my room and have a glass of water. Come on, little sister." Principal Sun reached out to help Chen Xiao, and everyone walked towards the principal's office.

Xiao Wei and Chen Hui followed behind, carrying the notebooks for the teacher.

Xiao Wei asked, "Why did you suddenly make such a big decision?"

Chen Hui said, "From now on, we'll live right next door and watch over them every day. Look at those kids' little faces today, their smiles are so pure. Now I feel that doing something for the children is the right thing to do. Besides, it's not much money. They're all two- or three-story school buildings; even if you build them with an external corridor on one side, it'll only cost a few hundred thousand. We're not short of a few hundred thousand, are we?"

Xia Maosheng squeezed in and said, "When Sister Li and her youngest daughter were hugging and talking just now, I felt my heart melt. It was so heartwarming. I support Xiaohui. We'll take care of this. Even if we just happen to pass by and see these noisy kids inside, it'll be worth it. Really."

Xiao Wei nodded and said, "Okay, we'll take care of it. Let the design institute plan it out, and make sure it's done properly, all the way through."

Upon entering the principal's office, Xiaowei placed the cardboard box on the floor next to Principal Sun's desk. Xiaohong said, "What are you three talking about behind me? Why are you taking so long?"

Xiao Wei said, "Lao Xia said that seeing these children's smiling faces melted his heart, and Xiao Hui said that the children's smiles were so pure, and it was only right to do something for them. So the three of us decided to do it all at once and have the design institute plan and rebuild this area."

Principal Sun, standing to the side, asked in a shrill voice, "Really?"

Xiao Wei said, "Really, we've discussed it."

Principal Sun looked at the group of people, licked her lips, and walked over, saying, "Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you. I... I don't even know what to say." She shook hands with each of them, truly moved.

Xiao Wei said, "We need to plan and design first. Construction will have to wait until next year, during the summer vacation next year."

Chen Xiao asked, "Why?"

Xiao Wei laughed and said, "If we're going to do the whole thing, how long can we finish? There are tables, chairs, and all that stuff. If we don't finish, will the kids be able to go to school? Where will they have classes? It'll be fine after next summer vacation when we're over there. If that's not possible, we can have the kids come here for a month of classes."

Principal Sun clapped his hands and laughed, "Really? I didn't expect it, I'm so excited. You've built such a big place over there? There are thirteen classes here. If we exclude this building, we'll need to accommodate at least eight more."

Chen Hui said, "There's enough space. If the annex isn't enough, we can build the main building. We built a building that's over thirty stories high, enough to fit eighty classes."

Principal Sun said, "Okay, then it's up to you. I'll submit the report right away. You can't let your money go to waste. I'll get the district, bureau, newspapers, and TV stations all over to help you promote it."

Chen Hui said to Xiao Wei, "Why don't we hold a donation ceremony? The office building will be up by then anyway, and we'll need to hire people to register our company. We can probably get people from the province to come too. We can just hold the donation ceremony here and save this little bit of money from anyone else eyeing it. You might not believe me, but who knows?"

Xiao Wei said, "Let's build it directly, without donating cash. Let whoever wants to remember it, remember it."

Principal Sun handed the school site plans to Xiao Wei, and then the group said their goodbyes and left. Chen Xiao was a little tired.

The group went straight back to the guesthouse. Chen Hui and Chen Xiao also moved in. This time, it was Chen Xiao's mother who came over, which was a good thing. She got to know Aunt Wang, and the two old ladies who were always cooped up at home finally found companionship. They got along very well.

……

The next day, Xiaowei went to work at the police station again.

Everyone else was busy, but he had nothing to do, so he just picked up a big laptop and started thinking about things.

At 10:30, Xiaowei was about to go home when the task came up.

Several minibuses got into a fight, and the passengers called the police.

A significant difference from the South is that in the North, especially the Northeast, those who call the police are often unrelated third parties, unlike in the South where it's more common for the parties involved. This is especially true in cases of fighting. Compared to the more mild-mannered Southerners, Northerners tend to be more aggressive and willing to resolve issues with their fists; few consider fighting a serious matter.

This leads to a problem: often when police arrive at the scene, they can't find the person who called the police. Perhaps it was someone standing silently watching from the roadside, perhaps they've already left, or perhaps they're in a shop nearby.

Fighting in Northeast China is fundamentally different from fighting in the South. Or, it's more accurate to describe the South as physical contact, while in the Northeast, it's more like brutal fighting.

When Xiao Wei arrived at the scene with Lu, this was the scene he saw: several minibuses were parked haphazardly on the side of the road, and traffic was completely cut off. Both sides of the road were crowded with onlookers. Three or four people were lying on the road, and there was blood on the ground. In the middle of the road, more than a dozen people were still fighting. There was no shouting, threatening, or arguing, only the visceral pain of punches and the sound of sticks hitting people.

Lu glanced at the minibus's license plate and said, "It's that group of Xiangping people again. Xiaowei, don't go over there to pull them away, just keep an eye on them, or you might get beaten up too. Xiaoli, go check on those guys and see if they're alright. Xiaoliu, call the hospital."

The officers went off to handle their own business. Chief Lu looked around and said to Xiao Wei, "None of these passenger transport workers are honest. Don't pity them. If you shoot half of them, there will definitely be no wrongful convictions. You'll understand in time."

Xiao Wei stood beside the police station, watching the fight, and asked, "Do they fight often?"

Lu said, "It's almost every day, it's all about competing for customers. They can cramm 20 or 30 people into a car that can hold ten or so. A lot of the car owners are thieves themselves, they'll take anything, there aren't any good people in that line of work. Good people can't do this job. This is what they do in the city. Go look at those intercity drivers, they're always vying for customers every two or three months, those are the ones who use everything."
