Chapter 621 Analysis

Chapter 621 Analysis

Xiao Liu dialed the police station's number, calling the one on Chief Lu's desk. He knew Chief Lu would be there right now, knowing it was such a big deal. Sure enough, Chief Lu answered: "Hey? Jixian Police Station." It was noisy around there; there seemed to be quite a few people there, perhaps in a meeting.

Xiao Liu said, "Officer Lu, this is Xiao Liu. Tell everyone in the room to leave. I have something to say."

Lu said, "You guys go out for a bit, I need to take this call. Go to that room and analyze it, I'll be back in a bit." After a few minutes, the room quieted down, and Lu asked, "Alright, go ahead. Where did you and Xiaowei go?"

Xiao Liu said, "We found someone who knew Qin Aihua, and through this person we found Qin Aihua's friend. Now we have obtained Qin Aihua's handwritten suicide note, and we have a clear understanding of what happened. We have confirmed that Qin Aihua is the murderer, and we have also confirmed that Yang Xuemei was with him. It was not a kidnapping, but a voluntary act."

Lu hissed and said, "You guys have such bad luck. Where are you now? I'll come over with Huang right away."

Xiao Liu said, "Futaizi is inside the town's supply and marketing cooperative."

Lu said, "Damn, you went that far? Fine, I'm coming right away. You guys have done a great job. Wait for me there and be careful."

After Xiao Liu hung up the phone, Xiao Wei and Hao Dawei were already eating on the side: bread, sausages, soda, and packaged braised eggs.

Xiao Liu said, "You guys are so unfair! You ditched me and started eating? How can you be so shameless?"

Hao Dawei handed a sausage to Xiao Liu, who took it and said to Xiao Wei, "Have Lao Cao sign the suicide note, then you sign it too. He delivers it, and you receive and keep it safe."

Xiao Wei looked at Xiao Liu, who nodded. Xiao Wei took out a will from his bag and asked Lao Cao to sign it. He also signed it himself. After they were done, they put the will away. Xiao Liu whispered, "Just in case. We should be more careful in our actions. We can't think too badly of others, nor can we expect everyone to be perfect."

Xiao Wei nodded. Xiao Liu took the notebook from Xiao Wei, flipped through it, wrote something down, and then had Lao Cao sign and affix his fingerprint. This was considered a written record, which could be used as evidence of the case's progress.

After Lao Cao finished his, he gave Hao Dawei a second copy, the same one, signed and sealed. This was Hao Dawei's evidence of meritorious service. Whether Lao Cao's actions actually counted as meritorious service was something Xiao Wei and Xiao Liu couldn't decide; it could only be left to their superiors to handle, since the document had been in his hands for two whole days.

After eating and drinking well, the four of them sat in the supply and marketing cooperative talking, waiting for Director Lu to come over.

More than an hour later, the sound of a car came from outside. Xiao Liu pushed open the large wooden door of the supply and marketing cooperative and looked out. Director Lu and Director Huang got out of the car and walked over.

Lu asked, "Are all the people here?"

Xiao Liu nodded and said, "They're all here."

Inside the supply and marketing cooperative, Xiao Liu pointed to Hao Dawei and said, "This is Hao Dawei. He did a great job today by leading us to find clues. It took several people to find this place. This is Cao Xiaochen. After we found him, he cooperated actively and voluntarily handed over the murderer's suicide note."

Xiao Wei took out his suicide note and handed it to Officer Lu. Officer Lu took it, opened it, and read it carefully. When he saw Xiao Wei and Lao Cao's signatures and fingerprints at the back, he raised his eyebrows, put the suicide note away, and said, "Okay, you two have done a good deed. I didn't expect you two to be so capable. You actually found something useful." He then kicked Xiao Wei in the shin without making a sound, causing Xiao Wei's face to twitch in pain.

Huang pulled up a chair, lit a cigarette, and said, "Now the case can be classified, and the murderer has been identified, but the next step is tricky. Where did these two people go? They were carrying five or six bullets, and dozens of bullets. Based on Qin Aihua's personality and the note he left behind, he already knows he's going to die, so killing a few more people won't weigh on his mind."

Lu looked at Lao Cao and said, "Cao Xiaochen, think about it again. The sooner you remember something, the fewer lives you might lose. It's a matter of life and death."

Old Cao said, "I guess you've already checked his relatives and such. Given his personality, he wouldn't go there, and he certainly can't go back to his own home. He's a filial son and can't bear to see his mother sad. Otherwise, he wouldn't have risked his life to have me deliver his will, and he repeatedly told me to wait until he's dead to deliver it. He's a righteous man with good interpersonal relationships. He's made many friends from Fengtian to Beixi, but I don't know them all. Right now, I really can't think of anything."

Xiao Wei thought for a moment and said, "Think carefully, besides you, who else is he close to? No, this direction isn't quite right. Judging from your description, he wouldn't implicate relatives or friends, and he should know we can eliminate him, so we need to think further ahead. Where is he from?"

Xiao Wei said, "So, he was already several years old before he came out?"

Xiao Liu flipped through the household registration information: "Seven years old."

Xiao Wei frowned, shook his head, and said, "He's too young, it's hard to say, but I feel like he's probably gone back to his hometown."

Lu asked, "What are you thinking? Tell me."

Xiao Wei said, "This person is too calm and his arrangements are meticulous. So I think it's unlikely that he would go to his relatives or friends. He can definitely think of everything that we can think of."

But he still needed a place to stay, and he had Yang Xuemei with him. Given his personality, he couldn't possibly let Yang Xuemei suffer.

So I thought, he's most familiar with his hometown, and he should know people there, but he was too young then, so that seemed unlikely.

After thinking for a moment, Lu said to Huang, "Do you think we should investigate what other connections his family has with Damin?"

Director Huang nodded and said, "Let's investigate. It's still a clue, and we might just find out if Xiaowei guesses it correctly."

Director Lu picked up the phone to make a call. Director Huang glanced at the remaining sausages and braised vegetables on the table, picked one up and ate it, saying, "You guys live quite luxuriously."

Xiao Wei laughed and said, "I came out hungry, why wouldn't I eat? The institute has to reimburse me for these meals."

Huang rolled his eyes and said, "Aren't you ashamed? Even if you were treating, you should be embarrassed. How can such a big boss treat someone like this?"

After finishing his call, Director Lu thought for a moment and said, "I feel like Xiao Wei's words make sense. How about we go there tonight and investigate?"

Huang asked Xiao Liu, "Did you bring a gun?"

Xiao Liu said, "Yes, I brought it. It's to protect our boss, Zhang. It's a task assigned by Director Lu."

Huang said, "Alright, let's go. I won't be satisfied if I don't go to the general planning office. Two guns are enough. Let's go."

Several people got up and walked outside. Director Lu said to Lao Cao, "Don't go out these next few days. Call me immediately if you have any news." Lao Cao nodded in agreement. Director Lu then looked at Hao Dawei, who was standing to the side. Hao Dawei said, "I'll go with you guys. I can fight, I'm strong."

Xiao Wei said, "He can't go back in this dark. Let's go with him. To be honest, we wouldn't have found this place today if it weren't for him."

Lu nodded and said, "Okay, come along. Be careful."
