Xiao Wei stared at the convenience store for a moment, then asked, "Ziqi, is it confirmed now?"

Wang Ziqi said, "Sure, how could I mistake such a big light from this far away? It's him, he's a bit annoying, he even tried to touch my face while acting like a little red face."

It was already dark outside, but the lights inside and outside the convenience store were on, illuminating the entire place. It was almost 8:30 p.m., and everyone in the station was gathered in the duty room watching TV. Chief Huang and a policeman were playing billiards in the back, while Chief Lu, with a cigarette in his mouth, was squatting on the ground watching two policemen play chess.

Xiao Wei called out, "Officer Lu."

Lu turned around and asked, "Why are you here at this hour? Is everything done over there? Where's Liu?" Liu went straight back to his dorm to change.

Xiao Wei said, "After you guys left, Xiao Liu and I left too. There's a bunch of big shots around, so we can't get involved. We're going to stake out the place this afternoon."

Lu stood up, stretched, and walked over to ask, "That case about finding someone? You're really energetic. Did you find anything out? Hehe, you've learned a lot. It must be tough staking out, right? It's good practice, it'll toughen you up."

Xiao Wei said, "We drove there and just sat in the car, so it wasn't too tiring. Xiao Liu said that you guys used to work hard while staking out the site."

Director Lu nodded and said, "Back then, we could rely on others to fill in the blanks for everything. We had nothing, so of course we were exhausted. Your car is so eye-catching, are you going to use it for stakeouts?"

Xiao Wei said, "No, I just got a Daihatsu and brought it back."

Xiao Liu, having changed into his police uniform, walked over carrying a few handcuffs: "Let's go, just the two of us?"

Chief Lu glanced at the handcuffs in Xiao Liu's hands: "You're squatting now? You two are really something, cracking cases like water, one after another. Need more manpower?"

Because Xiaowei and Xiaoliu took on this case and followed it from beginning to end together, no one else would get involved unless they asked, as it would be seen as an attempt to steal credit.

Xiao Wei said, "You and Huang should go too. You two are free anyway, so go together. To be honest, this whole thing is a bit of a headache. I'm almost hoping they've arrested the wrong person."

Lu called out to Huang, "Old Huang, come on, get dressed and go for a walk with Xiao Wei." As he walked towards his room, he asked Xiao Wei, "What's wrong?"

Xiao Wei pursed his lips and said, "You'll see when we get there. If we haven't made a mistake, I reckon this is another big case. Xiao Hong is probably in trouble."

Lu was startled: "Really? You're not kidding?"

Xiao Wei said with a wry smile, "How could you joke about this? I'm feeling really conflicted right now; I hope it's right, but I also hope it's wrong."

Police Chief Lu picked up his uniform and put it on, saying, "We are police officers. We are only responsible for finding out the truth. We can't interfere too much in other people's business."

Huang, now dressed, came over: "Where are you going? What are you doing?"

Lu said, "They've got a plan to arrest them; they're on track to take on that missing person case."

Huang laughed and said, "Great, that's efficient. Where's the efficiency?"

Xiao Liu said, "Wuma Road, the Shengli area. You two ride in Xiao Wei's car, I'll drive the station's car."

Four people in two cars left the police station and headed towards Wuma Road.

They drove in silence until they reached the residential area. Xiao Wei parked his car directly in front of the convenience store, while Xiao Liu parked the police car behind. The four of them got out and walked into the store. The store was about to close, and the owner and a young man in his twenties were packing up. The people who had been playing cards and chess there had all gone home; people go to bed early these days.

As Xiao Wei entered, the boss looked up, saw him, and greeted him with a smile, asking, "What brings you here? Something you need?"

Xiao Wei nodded and said, "Something came up. Who is this?"

The shopkeeper said, "My son, I went to the hospital today, so I asked him to come and watch the stall for half a day. What's up?" He then stacked a bundle of toilet paper on a pile. His stall was located outside under the window, and he would move everything back inside at night.

Xiao Wei said, "Come out here and talk, this room is too crowded. Did you ask about that thing I asked you to?"

The shopkeeper dusted off his hands, straightened his back, and said, "I'm asking around. There are so many people in this courtyard, it'll take several days. I don't even know them all." He took a pack of cigarettes from the counter next to him, walked out to the door, and handed a few to Xiaowei.

Xiao Wei reached for the cigarette, grabbed the boss's wrist, pulled him forward, and the handcuffs clicked shut. He said, "Then I won't trouble you to ask. You can just come back with us and tell us yourself."
