Chapter 696 These are my parents

At 9:30 p.m., Xiao Wei drove his car into Chen Hui's yard.

Because it was nighttime when we entered the city, we couldn't see much of the street scene except for the streetlights. The three of us, who were visiting Fengtian for the first time, slept soundly for most of the journey in the back seat.

The Chen Hui family, the Chen Xiao family, Xia Maosheng and Geng Hui, Uncle Wang and Aunt Wang were all waiting in the courtyard. This was a sign of equality and respect.

After parking the car in front of the annex, Xiaowei woke up the three people who were still sleeping: "Dad, Dad, Mom, Xiaobing, we're here, get out of the car."

Xiaowei's dad put Xiaobing down and helped him take off his clothes and shoes before everyone came out to sit down in the living room to talk.

Xiao Wei, Chen Hui, and Xia Maosheng went to the main building to get food, which they had specially prepared for this family. However, by this time, the food had long since gone cold. The three of them were heating up the food and talking in the kitchen of the annex.

Chen Hui said, "Actually, you should stay there for one night and head back tomorrow. There's no rush, why are you in such a hurry? Aren't you tired from driving for thirteen or fourteen hours?"

Xiao Wei said, "You don't understand my mom's personality. She's always worried about everything, she just can't bear to leave. The longer she stays, the more upset she gets. Xiao Wei said, "You must have worked hard?"

Xiao Wei ignored Chen Hui and asked Xia Maosheng, "Are you here yet?"

After escorting Old Chen, Chen Hui's mother, and Chen Xiao's parents to the first floor, the family returned to the second floor to sit down and eat. Xia Maosheng had already eaten and sat to the side with them. Geng Hui, because she was pregnant, couldn't resist and pulled Xiao Hong to eat some more.

Halfway through the meal, Xiaowei's mother recovered and looked at Xiaowei, saying, "Xiaobing, what are we going to do? Won't he wake up hungry in a bit?"

Xiao Hong said, "Auntie, you eat yours, I'll go get Xiaobing." She cheerfully took a piece of meat and left the dining room. Sure enough, this method worked. Xiao Hong pouted and said, "This originally belonged to our family, but that scoundrel Chen Hui insisted on keeping it. You guys go take a look at the main building tomorrow, that's really nice, it's half again as big as this. What a waste of Xiao Wei's efforts."

Xiao Wei said, "It's bigger over there now. The main building and this building use the same blueprints, and all the rooms are bigger, so it looks better. Anyway, we can move in in a few days, so don't complain. Don't let Uncle Chen and Aunt Chen hear you and think something's wrong with you."

Geng Hui laughed and said, "I reckon Xiao Hong will keep bothering Chen Hui for the rest of his life. Now, as soon as Xiao Hong mentions the house, Chen Hui turns around and runs away. It's become a nightmare for him."

Everyone laughed. Aunt Wang reached out and slapped Xiao Hong on the head, laughing along. Xiao Bing was a little confused: "What are you laughing at?"

Xiao Wei's mother asked Xia Maosheng, "Xia, haven't you thought about building one?"

Xia Maosheng said, "I was thinking of living in an apartment building with an elevator back then, because I felt it would be more comfortable to live on a higher floor. But now I realize how nice this apartment is. I'll wait and see next year."

Geng Hui said, "We'll just live in an apartment building with an elevator. It's just the two of us. If it's too big, it'll feel lonely. If it's too small, there'll be no point in building it. So we might as well just stay here."
