The ultimate master in the city
Chapter 192 Human Skin Mask
Zhou Fengchen looked around, reached the door, tried it, found it unlocked, and then pushed the door open with a creak and went inside.
The room was filled with a strange, cool smell, probably because this guy often dealt with corpses and didn't like to bathe.
On the bedside table was a stack of paper talismans. Zhou Fengchen picked them up curiously and glanced at them. He found that the seals on them were strange, crooked and different from Taoist methods. They should belong to the witchcraft of corpse driving.
Suddenly, I noticed that the drawer of the table was slightly ajar, and there was something that looked like rubber sticking out of the gap. I instinctively pulled it out, and lo and behold, it was a whole human face, complete with wrinkles, eyebrows, and beard. It looked incredibly lifelike, and a little eerie!
Just then, the door creaked open again.
Zhou Fengchen immediately put the man's face into the drawer, turned around and gave a dry laugh. After all, it was impolite to just barge into someone's house, and he felt a little guilty.
However, instead of the corpse-driver A-Kui who was expected to return, a stranger opened the door. He looked to be in his forties, with a round face and a scar on his face.
He noticed a momentary lapse in concentration when he saw Zhou Fengchen, but he quickly regained his composure and coldly asked, "Who are you?"
His voice was hoarse and sounded unnatural.
Zhou Fengchen paused for a moment, then said, "Uh! I'm here... to find A-Kui!"
"Ah-Kuei?" The man's eyes darted around, and he frowned. "Don't know him!"
Zhou Fengchen pointed to the room, "Isn't this his house?"
"This is my home." The man's face immediately darkened, and he pointed outside, "Get out!"
"Okay." Zhou Fengchen nodded, but inwardly he was starting to understand what was going on. This person's voice was deliberately suppressed, he seemed a little flustered when he saw him, and then there was the shamelessness of the person in the drawer...
He pretended to walk out, then suddenly pulled out his knife and slashed at the man's neck.
The man reacted quickly, drawing his short sword and raising it to block.
But what level is Zhou Fengchen?
"Clang—"
With a flick of his wrist, he knocked the dagger from the man's hand, then kicked him out the door, sending him crashing onto the snow with a thud, skidding four or five meters away.
"I'll kill my mother and buy something else!" This man was fierce too. He cursed in the local dialect, got up, and was about to fight back, but as soon as he looked up, a knife was already at his neck. He immediately froze, raised his hands, and managed a weak smile, "No!"
"You're a fierce old man! But with your little tricks, I could kill you eight times in a minute!" Zhou Fengchen sneered, kicking him to the ground and then stomping on his face. "Tell me, why were you impersonating A-Kui?"
With half his face buried in the snow, the man could only desperately tilt his head to breathe, saying, "What are you saying? What A-Kuei?"
"Still pretending with me?" Zhou Fengchen stomped hard, stomping his entire head into a snow hole. "I'll crush your brain, then rip out your intestines, and tomorrow morning I'll go out for hotpot without a care in the world. Nobody will know it was me. You'll die for nothing, believe me?"
"I'll talk, I'll talk!" the man struggled and cried out.
Zhou Fengchen loosened his grip. "Speak!"
The man scrambled to his feet, gasping for breath, and gasped, "My name is Aze. I'm the apprentice of the head corpse-driver. Our sect has a rule: if someone drives too many corpses in life, they can't be buried with their face intact, lest they be recognized in the underworld and never reincarnate. So, corpse-drivers have to have their entire face peeled off before burial. A-Kui's line of craftsmen all died out, so the head corpse-driver kept their faces. I was recently assigned A-Kui's face!"
Zhou Fengchen snorted coldly, "I'm asking you why you impersonated A-Kui. Don't tell me you have a rule about transporting corpses while wearing someone else's face."
Aze sighed and said, "I impersonated Aku to lure you in!"
"Luring me?" Zhou Fengchen asked curiously, "Why would you lure me?"
Aze said, "This has to do with the Asi Palace."
"Speak!"
"You're the expert Hu Cui invited, so you must know something, right? I'll get straight to the point!" Aze said, "After Axi Palace died, Hu Cui was dissatisfied and kept inviting experts to come and demand the body back. But those Miao witches were too evil. My master was afraid she would be harmed, so he had his disciples on some of the main roads in Jiuweng Town and Liushu Town keep watch. As long as Hu Cui dared to bring people, they would drive her back."
Zhou Fengchen thought for a moment. Hu Cui was the proprietress. Aze's master was afraid she would be harmed by the witch, so he had his disciples on the only way to Xiangxi keep an eye out. No wonder the two Maoshan Taoist priests the proprietress brought were killed by zombies last time. He asked, "What is the relationship between your master and Hu Cui? Why is he so concerned about her?"
Aze said, "Hu Cui is my master's niece. He has no children of his own, so he treats her like his own daughter and dotes on her!"
Zhou Fengchen nodded. "Then why did you lure me away? Why not kill me too?"
Aze said, "We heard that Hu Cui brought people again, so we waited at the fork in the road ahead. But the fellow disciples from Willow Town saw your ritual and said that you might be a real master who is not easy to deal with. I was invited by the Zhang family to transport corpses, and I happened to be passing by there, so I brought A-Kui's face to lure you away. I didn't expect you to come looking for me!"
"So... my friend and Hu Cui have been captured by you?" Zhou Fengchen asked.
Aze shook his head. "Something went wrong. We were going to kill your friend, but an employer needed someone, so we kidnapped him. We were planning to take Hu Cui back with us, but some women from the Wu family came along the way and abducted Hu Cui!"
Zhou Fengchen nodded. "Then where is my friend now? And where should Hu Cui be?"

"Here..." Aze's eyes suddenly darted around, and taking advantage of Zhou Fengchen's momentary lapse in attention, he quickly pulled out a packet of lime powder from his pocket, waved it around, and threw it, "Go to hell!"
Because they were too close, and because Zhou Fengchen didn't take this guy seriously at all, he never expected that someone would carry lime powder with them. He was immediately blinded by the powder, and a burning sensation spread through his eyes, blurring his vision instantly.
He instinctively took a few steps back, then swung the knife and threw it, yelling, "You son of a bitch!"
puff!
"what!"
It seemed like it hit Aze, but the spot was probably too far to the side. Aze let out a scream, but seemed to be alright. However, he didn't dare to retaliate and ran away, crunching through the snow.
"Damn it!"
Zhou Fengchen cursed loudly, not knowing where the oil was in his eyes, so he had no choice but to sit cross-legged and practice the "Three Powers Return to Origin Technique" to expel the lime powder after a while.
When I opened my eyes, I saw a Qing Dynasty sword covered in blood lying to one side, and a bloodstain on the snow that dripped into the distance. There was no sign of Aze anywhere.
Fortunately, it was a short time, and there were still footprints on the ground, so he picked up the knife and followed the footprints.
After leaving the village, there was a small hill in front of us. After passing the hill, we came to a strange lake of reeds that stretched as far as the eye could see. The footprints stopped there.
"Where the hell did it go?"
Zhou Fengchen strolled along the lake. Although there were many reeds in the lake, the water was very deep and the surface was covered with a thin layer of ice. He thought to himself, "If Aze dares to hide in this cold water and hold his breath for two hours, I'll admit defeat."
As we wandered around, we came to a recessed area and faintly heard a strange chewing sound coming from ahead.
Zhou Fengchen was curious, so he quietly walked over and turned his head to take a look. What he saw made him almost unable to believe his eyes!
Holy crap! What... what does this mean?
