The ultimate master in the city
Chapter 245 The Monk in the Mist
"What is Su Luncai doing here?" Zhou Fengchen asked.
Zhang Shisan shook his head. "I don't know. Let's go take a look."
The two crouched down and ran to the bushes beside the mountain path. They looked up at Lu Shuangshi and Su Luncai, who had strange expressions, but were surprised to find that there were also four sneaky people crouching in the bushes opposite them.
It turned out to be the Miao girl A-Ling from that afternoon, along with the nun Kuzhu, Han Fei, and Shen Bowang.
However, all four of them were focused on Lu Shuangshi and did not notice them.
Zhou Fengchen and Zhang Shisan exchanged a glance and squatted down without saying a word.
After a while, Su Lun led Lu Shuangshi into the wilderness where they could no longer see clearly. A Ling, Ku Zhu, and the others got up and followed.
Zhang Shisan watched their retreating figures and muttered, "Goodness, they're all here. What's going on?"
Zhou Fengchen thought for a moment, "It's obvious that Shangguan Xianyun wants to kill those two widows from the Lu Shuang family, or perhaps she's dealing with the Scattered Flower Ghost King and has asked them for help!"
Zhang Shisan rubbed his nose and said, "Well...should we go over and join the fun?"
"Why bother with all this nonsense!" Zhou Fengchen stood up. "You go ahead, I need to go save my brother."
Zhang Shisanqian chuckled, "What are you saying? We're in this together! Let's go to the temple, let's go to the temple!"
When the two returned to the foot of the hill where the "Painting Soul Temple" was located, the group of monks who had come to pay their respects had already entered the temple.
The two went up the stone steps and arrived at the temple gate, only to find the gate tightly closed and the sound of weeping deafeningly loud from inside.
Zhou Fengchen gave him a wink, and Zhang Shisan stepped forward and knocked on the door.
The crying stopped abruptly after just one knock, and the door creaked open by itself.
The two peered inside, only to find the courtyard deserted. The mourning monks had vanished, and a cluster of torches burned at the entrance to the main hall. In the center of the torches sat the large red coffin, its lid open and tossed aside.
The entire temple was quiet.
The open, bright red coffin, the dim yellow torches, and the dark, gaping doors of the main hall create an eerie atmosphere.
Zhou Fengchen and Zhang Shisan exchanged bewildered glances. What did this mean? Were these frivolous monks playing hide-and-seek with them?
"Is anyone there?" Zhang Shisan called out.
He called out three times, but no one responded.
The two entered the courtyard quietly. When they reached the coffin, they curiously looked inside. Inside lay a young monk of about sixteen or seventeen years old, his body wet and with a shocking tear running from his shoulder to his groin. His body looked as if it were barely cradled together, appearing somewhat distorted and unnatural.
Zhang Shisan frowned and said, "This little monk... his aura is a bit strange, but his death was truly gruesome. He was cleaved in two with a single blow. Who was so ruthless?"
"Me." Zhou Fengchen smiled and pointed to his nose.
"You?" Zhang Shisan curled his lip. "Are you kidding me? When did you kill him?"
Zhou Fengchen sighed. "When I was chasing those three old women who were the Cave God's Messenger, I turned around and killed a cat monster who was fishing in the river. Do you remember?"
"I remember!" Zhang Shisan nodded.
Zhou Fengchen made a hand seal, reached into the coffin, waved it gently, and uttered a "Hurry," adding, "Take another look."
In the blink of an eye, the little monk's corpse in the coffin transformed into a dead lynx the size of an infant, its body split in two, baring its teeth and looking extremely ferocious.
Zhang Shisan was taken aback. "Holy crap! It really is!"
Zhou Fengchen gritted his teeth, "This cat-like little monk is actually Wu Daozhu's disciple. As soon as we entered the temple yesterday, Wu Daozhu probably knew that I was the one who killed him. So he's been setting us up from the beginning. Monk Yuanzhi is now... I'm afraid he's either dead or in grave danger."
Zhang Shisan drew his longsword. "Then there's no point in being polite first; let's go straight to the point!"
No sooner had the words been spoken than the crying resumed. A group of monks, like ghosts, moved in from all directions. When they arrived, they stopped wailing and looked at each other with anger and resentment.
The same monk we met yesterday suddenly shouted, "Brother, our enemy is right before us! Watch us kill him and avenge you!"
As it spoke, it twisted its body, grew a pair of pointed ears, its face became long and black, and a tuft of yellow hair was on its head. It grinned and let out a mouthful of big yellow teeth.
Zhang Shisan couldn't help but exclaim, "Damn!" "A horse?"
As they were talking, the remaining dozen or so monks all changed their appearance. Some had pig snouts and fangs with big bellies, some were as thin as monkeys, some had snake heads, dog heads, and so on. But they were still wearing monks' robes and had Buddhist beads around their necks. Their appearance was truly terrifying and bizarre.
Suddenly, a thick gray fog rose up all around, quickly spreading throughout the entire temple. The demonic monks, who seemed to have somehow acquired machetes, spiked clubs, and large iron hammers, approached from all directions through the fog with grim faces.
Zhang Shisan blinked. "This Master Wu is something else! He's managed to get a bunch of mountain spirits to act as monks! Let's get started!"
Zhou Fengchen drew his knife, glanced around, and said, "These demonic monks are of mediocre skill. Master Wu hasn't appeared yet. Be careful of your surroundings!"
"That saves me the trouble!" Zhang Shisan charged forward with a leap, "Kill!"
Ding!
boom!
A dog-headed monk was instantly knocked down by him.
Zhou Fengchen sneered, grabbed his knife and charged forward. In a flash, he was next to the horse demon monk who was in charge of receiving guests, and swung his knife to slash!
The horse demon monk, brandishing his spiked club, tried to defend himself, but suddenly his vision vanished. Zhou Fengchen was already behind him, stabbing him down with his sword. "Die!"
puff!
The knife struck him squarely in the back, but strangely, no blood or screams appeared. The horse demon monk paused for a moment, then instantly turned into a cloud of black sand and dissipated.
"Strange!" Zhou Fengchen frowned. Just then, he felt a demonic monk pounce on him from behind, and quickly swung his sword back.

This demon monk only lasted one round before his head was chopped off with a single blow. However, like the horse demon monk, he also turned into a cloud of black sand and scattered.
"What's going on?"
do not care!
Zhou Fengchen gritted his teeth and unleashed his sword-walking technique, hacking and slashing wildly.
Ding ding ding!
In an instant, figures clashed, mist billowed, and the sounds of weapons clashing filled the air.
With Zhang Shisan on the left and Zhou Fengchen on the right, in just five minutes, all the demon monks were killed. Without exception, they all turned into black sand and vanished when they died.
"That's not right!" Zhang Shisan approached. "These demon monks scattered into black sand as soon as they were killed, so they're clearly not dead!"
Zhou Fengchen pondered for a moment, then shook his head. "I don't quite understand!"
The words had barely left his mouth when a chilling, sinister laugh echoed from all directions: "Hehehe..."
The demon monks reappeared from the mist.
"This..." Zhang Shisan looked around, somewhat confused.
"Leave it to me!" Zhou Fengchen stepped forward, forming hand seals. "Profound Twenty-One, Clone! Quickly!"
Whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh...
More than a dozen figures instantly attacked the dozen or so demon monks.
Ding ding ding...
A few minutes later, the demon monks were all dead, their bodies turning into black sand as they died.
However, before the two could even exchange a word, the sinister laughter rang out again, and the demonic monks surrounded them once more.
Zhang Shisan cursed, "Damn it! Are they trying to work us to death?"
Zhou Fengchen looked around, then suddenly pointed upwards, "This should be an illusion; there's no such thing as something that can't be killed."
Zhang Shisan looked up and saw a large face above him, which was the face of the eight-armed, wrathful Heavenly King statue.
I like the novel "The Strongest Master in the City".
