After confirming that Li Zhanyi was alright, Lin Chen stood up, stretched, and then looked at the blue substance floating in the air not far away.

The substances were floating around Captain England's body, suspended as if drawn by invisible threads.

"I'll go see if there are any spoils of war."

Lin Chen walked to the body of the British captain and turned it over with his feet, first to the left and then to the right, on the small iron mound.

Soon, he spotted a glint of silver: it was Captain England's shield.

When they finally manipulated the metal of the entire building, the shield was somehow sucked in.

Lin Chen took out the shield, tapped it gently, and found it to be quite hard.

This thing doesn't even leave a mark when bullets hit it, so it must be made of some extraordinary material. I'll take it back and study it.

Lin Chen flipped through the pages again, but found nothing; he didn't get the azure crystal he wanted.

It seems that demigods don't crystallize; all the azure energy within them has been converted into matter and is suspended in the air.

Lin Chen climbed Iron Hill and reached out to touch the deep blue.

Seeing this, Li Zhanyi quickly spoke up:

"Don't move! Those substances are highly concentrated; you can't touch them with your skin!"

Lin Chen stopped what he was doing, turned his head, and looked somewhat confused.

"No...physical contact?"

"High concentrations of the azure substance are highly corrosive and require specialized equipment to handle," Li Zhanyi explained softly. "Anything exposed to this concentration will be quickly corroded and transformed into subspace... Eek!"

She saw Lin Chen grab a clump of dark blue substance and swallow it whole.

"It's nothing," Lin Chen said, showing his empty hands. "I did the same thing when I took down Qingtian before, look—"

He scooped up clumps of the blue substance from the air and ate them piece by piece.

Li Zhanyi stared blankly at the horrific scene before him, beginning to doubt whether he had truly survived the battle with Captain England.

She waited until Lin Chen finished eating before she murmured:

"That time with Qingtian... you were the one who ate it too..."

"I thought all Awakened Spirits would do this," Lin Chen returned to Li Zhanyi's side and squatted down. "This is all high-quality Azure Energy..."

"You have quite the appetite..." Li Zhanyi muttered, "Aren't you going to eat like this right in front of me? Aren't you afraid I'll... tell everyone?"

"Will you tell anyone?"

"...Won't."

Li Zhanyi turned her head slightly away and pursed her lips.

"You really don't treat me like an outsider..." she said softly.

"You're my guide," Lin Chen chuckled, "and my roommate."

"That's it? The relationship doesn't seem that good..." Li Zhanyi blinked.

"What kind of relationship is considered good?"

"Well..."

Li Zhanyi thought for a while, then suddenly turned his head away and stopped talking.

"Stained on clothes?"

This girl is back to her usual self from the coffee shop...

"..."

Just then, the sound of a propeller came from the rooftop. Lin Chen turned his head and saw a helicopter rising from the edge of the rooftop.

Two rows of rope ladders descended, and the logistics staff of the Third Section arrived at the scene to stop the bleeding from Li Zhanyi's wound and provide emergency bandaging.

"The staircase structure was destroyed, so we had to wait for the helicopter. Sorry we're late," a logistics worker explained to Lin Chen.

"It's okay, let's go."

Lin Chen refused the bandaging and turned to look at Zhan Yi, who was already lying on the stretcher.

"Take us home."

.......

Lin Chen couldn't remember much of what happened after that. After boarding the helicopter, fatigue washed over him like a tidal wave, almost making him fall asleep.

When he regained his memories, he had already settled into a hospital room, and the person in the next bed was Li Zhanyi.

"The stain on your clothes isn't a big deal. The steel bar isn't deeply damaged, and it will heal quickly with the medicine."

Jürgen handed the report to Lin Chen, paused for a moment, and then scratched the back of his head.

"Ah... I subconsciously showed you the report. Logically, it should have been shown to Section Chief Jiang."

"Are you treating me as Zhanyi's guardian?" Lin Chen thought to himself, glancing at the report and then at Zhanyi on the next bed.

She had fallen into a deep sleep and looked very calm, though her face was a little pale.

"It's unbelievable," Lin Chen said softly, "that crazed demigod actually chased her all the way, his mind filled with nothing but killing her..."

Unbeknownst to Lin Chen, the demigod had lost its former sacred halo and fallen to become a synonym for madman and criminal.

Jürgen sat down next to Lin Chen, glanced at Li Zhanyi not far away, and pushed up his glasses.

“Gnosticism, the azure, these extraordinary powers often symbolize instability and madness,” Jürgen sighed. “Paranoid physicists… artists suffering from mental illness… evil wizards… tyrannical kings… these historical figures were merely awakened to gnomes, and under the influence of the extraordinary, they gradually evolved into madness.”

"Aside from the erosion of rationality by the Azure Energy itself, the very act of possessing 'superhuman abilities' nourishes the ego, turning the insecure into the arrogant, and the arrogant into the insane."

"As for demigods, the azure energy within their bodies far surpasses that of awakened beings. As beings from outer space, they possess the potential to contain massive amounts of azure energy, and also exhibit a madness far exceeding that of mortals."

“But Captain England isn’t an alien,” Lin Chen said, looking at Jurgen. “He used to be a human named Ding Qilang. He was once nearly killed by Qingtian Elbow in a rugby match. Back then, he didn’t seem like a demigod.”

While absorbing Captain England's azure substance, Lin Chen saw some of his memories, but he hadn't had time to delve deeper.

Seeing Lin Chen's confident expression, Jürgen was taken aback, then asked softly:

"Did he tell you all this?"

"That's right, he went berserk during the battle and said a lot to me," Lin Chen revealed, half-truthfully. "He said... the Foundation gave him power, making him a god who transcends mortals."

"Such a thing is possible..." Professor Jürgen murmured softly, "But... how did they do it?"

"Do you think it's possible to artificially create a 'demigod' from the perspective of anomalies?" Lin Chen asked.

"No, no, absolutely impossible," Jürgen shook his head. "The Azure Energy within a demigod's body can regenerate infinitely, which already defies our common sense. You must understand that many of the Foundation's Azure Energy-related products are made from Azure Energy donated regularly by their demigods, directly saving them enormous costs of developing subspace. This is why demigods can be considered assets of the 'Foundation'."

"Therefore, the question of whether demigods can be artificially created is just as simple as the question of whether perpetual motion machines exist."

"I see..."

Lin Chen nodded slightly, but he was clearly not going to be convinced.

He saw things that theoretically don't exist with his own eyes.

"What if the azure energy within a demigod's body isn't infinite, but rather has a channel to continuously obtain it from other places?" Lin Chen hypothesized.

"Oh? You mean..." Professor Jürgen pushed up his glasses.

"For example, from the depths of the subspace?"
