Chapter 27 All-you-can-eat Pancakes
"Are you interested in potions?"
Manugs's voice came from in front of him, and Victor was still a little nervous. It wasn't that he was in a bad mood, but mainly because the pressure from a formal wizard was substantial when they got close, and it was hard for him to not react.
However, he tried his best to remain calm and replied:
"I'm somewhat interested... but I haven't tried it yet."
Manugs walked to the flowerbed, looked down at the potions inside, and said:
"Potions are the first subject of alchemy, so it's normal to be interested."
"Your talent is better than most wizards, so you don't need to focus all your attention on runes. It would be good to try potions occasionally; you might just find a breakthrough."
Victor didn't understand what Manuggus meant by those words, so he could only nod:
"I've taken note... of my mentor."
Manuggas nodded, then turned to look at Viktor:
"Let me see the rune tablet I gave you before."
Without a word, Victor reached down and took the runestone tablet hanging from his waist, handing it to Manugs.
Manugs took the rune tablet, supporting it with one hand and gently stroking it with the other. As magic was poured in, the runes that Victor had struggled to ignite with all his might began to light up one by one.
Soon they all started to flicker with a light blue glow... which lasted for about ten seconds.
Manugs turned his head and looked at Viktor with a hint of surprise in his eyes:
"You didn't give this rune tablet to anyone else, did you?"
"Of course not, mentor."
Victor quickly shook his head.
Seeing that he didn't seem to be lying, a thoughtful expression appeared on Manuggas's usually calm face for the first time. He then looked at Viktor's striking vertical pupils and silver hair, pondered for a moment, and finally spoke:
"Your alchemical talent seems to be even better than I thought... perhaps even surpassing mine."
Viktor looked surprised and was about to say something.
But he was interrupted by what Manugges said next:
"If it's talent at this level, I might be able to help you apply for the academy's 'Seed Wizard' program."
"Seed Wizard?"
The words Viktor hadn't spoken were swallowed back down, replaced by confusion and doubt:
"Mentor, this 'Seed Wizard' you mentioned is...?"
"It's a special channel within the academy specifically for cultivating exceptionally talented wizards..." Manugs didn't try to hide anything and quickly explained, "It's roughly about signing a training contract with the academy. The academy will provide additional resources and fully support the seed wizard to become a full-fledged wizard. The price is that once the seed wizard becomes a full-fledged wizard, they will be bound to Morning Star Academy."
"I see?"
Victor was indeed a little surprised, because it was the first time he had heard of it, and Nina had never mentioned it either.
Manugs paused slightly before adding:
"But most importantly, if the seed wizard can successfully become a formal wizard within the planned time, he will be able to obtain the qualification to study at the Grand Alliance Academy."
"Major League Academy? Qualification for further study?"
Two new terms popped up, and Viktor repeated them in a low voice, searching his memory. He couldn't find the second one, but he did find the origin of the first one, "Grand Alliance Academy".
Before he could think it through, Manugges had already given him an explanation:
"The Grand Alliance Academy is a research academy within the Wizarding Alliance. It brings together more than half of the geniuses in the entire Wizarding Alliance, has abundant resources, and only formal wizards are qualified to join."
"Generally speaking, wizards who can complete their studies at the Grand Alliance Academy are the backbone of various wizarding forces, and have a high probability of breaking through to the second-ring wizard level and reaching a higher realm."
"However, the qualification to enter the Grand Alliance Academy is controlled by the major wizarding forces and is generally used to reward those wizards with talent."
"The Seed Wizard is the only way for wizards at our Morning Star Academy to obtain this advanced training qualification."
At this point, Manugges looked at Viktor:
"In my opinion, your talent in alchemy has already reached this standard for now."
"..."
Viktor could not contain his emotions, so he involuntarily narrowed his eyes slightly to conceal the change in his gaze.
After a moment of excitement, he suddenly realized that although these titles sounded impressive and were indeed very good, they were not really relevant to him, a low-level wizard apprentice.
Especially Manugs's statement that he could recommend Viktor anytime he wanted... How come it felt no different from the empty promises his boss made to him when he was a slave in his previous life?
Thinking about it this way, sure enough, Viktor quickly regained control of his emotions and calmed down.
"But... a mentor... since it's such an important position, it shouldn't be so easy for me to obtain, right?"
His composure caused a flicker of surprise to resurface in Manugges' eyes... but this was quickly followed by a hint of admiration.
This little guy named Victor, putting aside his alchemical talent, just his composure in any situation is very much in the style of a wizard.
Then, a rare smile appeared on his lips:
"You're very smart... This matter is naturally not that simple."
"Because it's not as simple as just saying your name and you can become a seed wizard... First of all, the difficulty you face is that you need a recommendation from a formal wizard."
"Secondly, the academy will test whether you are qualified to become a seed wizard and whether you are qualified to be one of our own."
"Finally, you need to meet all the requirements of the academy before you can truly become a Seed Wizard."
Viktor increasingly felt that these were all empty promises from Manuggas, but with the opportunity right in front of him, it would be too cowardly not to test the waters.
"So... Professor, have you decided to recommend me?"
Upon hearing this, Manugges glanced at Viktor:
What do you think?
"this......"
Viktor didn't know what to say.
"Don't worry."
Manugs suddenly added, "I'm not the kind of person who likes to impose my will on others, like Nina... I'm never stingy with rewards as long as she fulfills my requests."
"But you are different from her. For her, who has only average talent, becoming a formal wizard is her only hope."
"You are different. Your talent is far superior to hers. So if you fulfill my requirements, my reward for you will be a recommendation from this seed wizard."
"But whether you are worthy of my recommendation, whether you can pass the test and truly obtain the identity of a Seed Wizard... I don't care."
"Do you get me?"
