Full-Time Mage: One random forbidden spell per month

Chapter 60 You are destined to fail, because you will die here today.

After circling the small forest without finding any trace of Mu Ningxue, Mu Nujiao, or the others, Li Xingze frowned.

Logically speaking, finding a safe and secluded place wouldn't necessarily require leaving the forest, so could something have happened?

"Just in case, let's send a signal to Hai Bodong first."

Li Xingze thought for a short while and quickly made up his mind.

Dongting Lake is the third most dangerous lake in China. Not to mention demons at the commander level, there are even demons at the monarch level.

To ensure safety, Li Xingze naturally had to make two preparations, with the Abyss Dragon being the first one, although it was resting at the moment.

Before setting off into the wilderness, Li Xingze had already instructed Hai Bodong to hunt demons around Dongting Lake, firstly to earn some spirit essence, and secondly to facilitate support for him.

"Zhao Manyan, cast a super-large Radiant spell first," Li Xingze said.

"No problem." Zhao Manyan nodded and then began to release his power. He only thought it was to find teammates and didn't think too much about it.

It was around four in the morning. The night sky was hazy when a huge radiant light suddenly illuminated a large part of the night sky, even brightening the forest.

About half a minute later, another radiance appeared in the distance, echoing Zhao Manyan's enormous radiance.

"It seems to be a radiant light from Song Xia. Shall we head over there?" Zhao Manyan had no doubt whatsoever.

Besides him, Song Xia was the only other light-element mage in the team.

"Something's not right. If it's Song Xia and the others, then why does the radiance appear only after a while?" Mo Fan wondered.

Even if Song Xia needed time to react, it shouldn't have taken tens of seconds.

"They might have encountered a little trouble, which is why the radiance is a bit slow," Zhao Manyan continued.

Li Xingze merely frowned, patted the Golden Flame Dragon Lion's head to turn it around, and sped off straight towards the direction of Guangyao.

The most dangerous part of this trial isn't just the demons; we also need to pay extra attention to one person. If it's him, then the radiance can be explained.

The Golden Flame Dragon Lion was very fast. After traveling for more than two minutes, Li Xingze and the other two arrived at a small valley. The valley was surrounded by mountains on three sides, leaving only a mountain pass about five meters wide.

Looking into the mountain pass, the three of them immediately saw Mu Nujiao, Song Xia, Xu Zhaoting, and others sitting on the ground. They seemed to be resting, but there was something strange about it.

Upon seeing them, Zhao Manyan's initial wariness vanished completely. He jumped off the Golden Flame Dragon Lion and walked inside.

"Old Xu, Zheng Bingxiao, you two haven't..."

Before the word "death" could be uttered, a thick, black spider web appeared above Zhao Manyan's head.

Curse type!!

Moreover, it was a mid-level level three curse type. Zhao Manyan was filled with fear when he saw the dense swarm of spiders. His light type was only mid-level level two, and he could only hold out for a little longer at most.

"Waaaaah!!"

Xu Zhaoting kept reminding them, but his mouth was sealed shut, so he couldn't speak at all and could only make soft, muffled sounds.

Lu Nian led Lu Zhenghe out from behind a rock, and the other military mages followed suit.

"It's a pity only one person took the bait; it would have been so much better if all three had gone together."

Lu Nian looked regretful. He knew that Li Xingze's summoned beast bloodline was not low. He had originally planned to take down all three of them at once, which would have saved him a lot of trouble.

But it's alright, he brought quite a few people with him anyway, dealing with a great general will just take a little longer.

"Lu Nian." Li Xingze looked at the man with thick eyebrows and big eyes and immediately knew who he was.

Besides him, there couldn't possibly be any other military mages present at this time.

"You know me?"

Upon hearing the young man say his name, Lu Nian immediately became interested.

"You must be Li Xingze, right? I've heard about you recently. You have some talent, but that's about it."

"Heh, of course a good-for-nothing like you would say that, it's just self-consolation. Otherwise, you wouldn't be researching some new system."

Li Xingze didn't care about Lu Nian's sarcasm at all and calmly retorted.

Hearing this, Lu Nian was stunned for a moment. Then he realized that he really couldn't find a reason to refute it. After all, he hadn't broken through to the Super Rank at his age, so his future was basically set.

"What a silver-tongued fellow! You're just a brat who's never seen war; how could you possibly understand the grand and noble cause I'm pursuing?"

Lu Nian, with a fanatical expression, shouted, "If we want to change the balance between humans and demons, we must create a new magic system. The recent birth of the new magic system—the Light system—has allowed humanity to regain some face, but that is far from enough. We need an even stronger magic system."

"If my research succeeds, I will be a saint revered like the forbidden spells, and all the evidence of my crimes will become badges of my highest honor!"

When Lu Nian said this, the military mages, who had been cold-faced, also revealed fanatical expressions; none of them were normal.

"You are destined to fail, because you will die here today," Li Xingze said calmly.

"You?!" Lu Nian's fanatical expression instantly turned cold. As long as he got the perfect test subject, his experiment would definitely succeed.

"It's not me; there are more suitable people to deal with you."

As soon as Li Xingze finished speaking, the valley, which had been relatively dry, suddenly became chilly, and the temperature even dropped rapidly. In just a few seconds, snowflakes began to flutter in the air.

Lu Nian, who had been calm and composed, became serious after sensing the change. This ability to change the environment must be a domain-level soul seed!

This means that the person who came was at least a high-level mage.

"It's ridiculous that such a grown man would bully students."

The cheerful voice echoed through the valley, and the military mages who had been in control of everything suddenly began to panic.

"What kind of hero hides like that?" Lu Nian looked around, trying to find the ice mage.

In just a short while, the dry valley was covered with two centimeters of ice. The icy cold not only suppressed the fire mages, but also suppressed other elemental mages.

With a top-tier soul seed and an excellent domain, Hai Bodong's ice-type abilities would rank in the upper-middle range even among super-level mages.

"Whoosh! Whoosh!!!"

With the sound of wind wings flapping, an ice-blue figure flew swiftly from the night sky, the icy spear in its hand standing out conspicuously in the darkness.

"Ice Emperor Hai Bodong!" Upon seeing the newcomer's appearance, Lu Nian's face immediately turned extremely grim.

Since Hai Bodong broke through to the Super-Rank Mage level, the Ice Emperor Hunting Group and the name of Ice Emperor Hai Bodong have risen again, and now they have considerable fame throughout the country.
