Full-Time Mage: One random forbidden spell per month

Chapter 68 The True Side Effect of Yang Lei—Devouring Spirit Seeds

"Twenty-three million!"

"Twenty-five million!"

"Thirty million!!"

"."

Watching the crowd keep raising the price, Mo Fan clicked his tongue in amazement. Was twenty or thirty million just a number in their eyes?

Each time, the price increases by millions!

"This armor is just average!"

Li Xingze looked at the armored magical artifacts displayed on the stage with absolutely no interest; they were far inferior to his Silver Scale Armor.

Seeing that Old Li didn't take the armor worth more than 30 million seriously, Mo Fan was so shocked that his eyes widened. Were they really from the same city?

As others continued to raise the price, the armor was eventually sold to a young man for 33 million, who appeared to be a student from the main campus of Pearl Academy.

Such armor, capable of defending against attacks from demons at the general level, is quite attractive to scions of noble families whose cultivation is only at the mid-level.

For some mages, a high-grade armor is far more useful than a spirit seed. Without armor for protection, most mid-level mages can't even withstand a level one Thunderclap or Fierce Fist.

"Next item: Azure Flame, a fire-type spirit seed!"

"This item was acquired by the Ice Emperor Hunting Crew from Fire Cloud Ridge."

"The Ice Emperor Hunting Crew!!"

Even though most of the people present came from aristocratic families and major powers, they still couldn't help but gasp in surprise when they heard about the Ice Emperor Hunting Group.

The Ice Emperor Hunting Group is definitely the fastest rising force in China in the past two years. Now the Ice Emperor Hunting Group has three super-level mages, which is already a force to be reckoned with in Shanghai. What's more, it has only taken two short years to go from nothing to now.

"It boasts nearly 2.5 times the power and also has a certain adhesion effect. The starting bid is 20 million."

"Twenty-two million!!"

"Twenty-three million!!"

The presence of a top-grade spirit seed with additional effects immediately ignited the enthusiasm of everyone present; spirit seeds with such effects are quite rare!

Seeing the price getting higher and higher, Li Xingze said speechlessly, "If I had known, I would have just given it to you directly, and I could have saved some of the handling fees."

Although he had a close relationship with the Ice Emperor Hunting Group, he knew nothing about the missions they were undertaking.

"Hehe, I think this spirit seed is pretty good. Old Li, you have to help me get it first!" Mo Fan said.

When the price reached 24 million, the calls for further bidding decreased significantly, as 24 million was practically the limit for buying a fire-type spirit seed.

"Twenty-six million!!" Li Xingze decisively made his move, adding two million at once, instantly shocking the entire audience.

"Is this guy an idiot? Spending 26 million on a fire-type spirit seed?"

Someone whispered, but no matter how hard he tried to suppress his voice, it was still easy to hear in the enclosed room.

The price of 26 million is clearly the limit for this fire-type spirit seed; raising the price further would be a complete waste!

After a moment of silence, the Spirit Seed Azure Flame finally fell into Li Xingze's hands.

"The next item up for auction is also a spirit seed, a lightning-type spirit seed—Zhu Xie, from..."

"Possessing nearly 2.5 times the power, and with 1.5 times the effect against dark-attribute demons, starting bid is 25 million!"

"This side effect is pretty amazing!" Mo Fan exclaimed in surprise.

"It's really good, but unfortunately you and I already have spirit seeds."

Li Xingze shook his head with great regret. If he had this spirit seed, he would have a 7.5 times increase in magical power when dealing with the undead, which would exceed the bonus of a top-grade soul seed.

Mo Fan nodded; the additional effects were indeed very appealing.

Although Li Xingze and Mo Fan thought this spirit seed was very strong, others did not think so, after all, demons with dark attributes were too rare.

They don't live in an ancient capital, so this additional benefit is basically useless to them.

"Twenty-five million!"

After a long silence, a middle-aged man made a bid; he was probably a lightning mage.

Seeing that no one else was making a move, the auctioneer on the stage became even more uncertain. This spirit seed was a top-grade spirit lightning; if he only sold it for a low price, he would lose all his share.

"Anyone else bidding?" The auctioneer didn't rush to make a final decision.

There was still silence, and someone even shouted, "Only a fool would buy this spirit thunder." Even the middle-aged man who made the bid showed a hint of regret on his face.

"Twenty-six million!"

The auctioneer was overjoyed to hear someone raise the bid; as expected, waiting always pays off.

All eyes were once again focused on Li Xingze. It was that guy again. Did he have too much money to spend?

Where did this tycoon come from?

After two astonishing bids in a row, this time no one dared to mock them anymore.

"Damn, Lao Li, are you out of your mind? What do you need this spirit seed for?" Mo Fan lightly punched Li Xingze's shoulder, puzzled.

Even if you're rich, you can't just mess around like this!

"I'm useful." Li Xingze didn't explain further.

"You're not planning to give it to Xu Zhaoting, are you? This is a spirit seed, not just the price of a meal."

After much thought, Mo Fan could only think of Xu Zhaoting, who was the only one who had not yet been equipped with a spirit seed.

You're overthinking it.

Li Xingze shook his head. Just now, his Yang Lightning had become restless, just like when he devoured lightning before.

If his Yang Lightning can devour spirit seeds, wouldn't that be the same as devouring seeds?

No, it's even more powerful than Seed Devourer. Seed Devourer consumes one at a time, while his Spirit Seed can devour other Spirit Seeds. It's just unknown whether it can retain the additional effects.

After the lightning-type spirit seed auction ended, the subsequent auction items were significantly more advanced, mostly items needed by high-level mages, and the competition consisted of the few people who had previously remained indifferent.

These people are undoubtedly high-level mages, and their needs are completely different from those of mid-level mages.

"Holy crap, they're talking hundreds of millions all the time, that's terrifying."

Mo Fan was shocked. The previous item, the Star River Vein, had been auctioned for 110 million, and he would need to create more than a dozen Soul Vessels to afford it.

Besides the Star River Vein, there are also some rare magical artifacts, such as those that add an effect to fire-type items, which are rarely seen under normal circumstances.

After these items were sold to various buyers, the final, most anticipated item was finally auctioned.

"The final item up for auction—the Star River Magic Artifact. This artifact was crafted by Master Zheng, and I'm sure I don't need to elaborate on its quality," the auctioneer said with a smile. Clearly, Master Zheng was a highly respected blacksmith.

The mid-level mages were completely unmoved by this, while the high-level mages in the front row all had burning eyes, clearly this was the purpose of their trip.

"Starting bid: 300 million!!"

"Whoosh!!"

The audience erupted in uproar. Even though they came from various powerful factions, the starting price still made them hesitate. The starting price of 300 million was equivalent to three portions of the Star River Vein.

A high-level mage who can come up with 300 million is basically already in the upper-middle tier of high-level mages.

Mo Fan's lips twitched. He was extremely grateful to have Little Mudskipper around. He didn't need to spend a lot of money to buy Nebula Magic Artifacts or Galaxy Magic Artifacts. These were things he couldn't afford at all!
