Another month has passed, and the snow in the yard has gotten even deeper.

Early in the morning, Chen Yang stretched after sweeping a large basket of snow with a homemade bamboo broom. It was now January 9th.

It's another full month, and it happens to be the New Year. So, I'm celebrating the New Year too, just like everyone else.

Now, in just four months it will have been a year since I came here. A new year marks a year; time really flies.

Wearing a thin blue Taoist robe and holding a bamboo broom, Chen Yang stood in front of the Taoist temple in the snow, silently watching the scenery on the mountain, which was now just a continuous stretch of white snow.

However, even though it's Chinese New Year today, Niu Shan hasn't brought his child up the mountain yet, so he probably doesn't need to name him himself.

Chen Yang thought to himself as he gazed at the snowflakes drifting down from the sky.

Although it's Chinese New Year today, the weather is not cooperating, and the snow is heavier than usual.

If Chen Yang hadn't used his spiritual liquid to water all the spiritual plants in the ground, they probably wouldn't have survived the thick snow of winter.

But now they can only endure it. Even the chives that have been soaked in spiritual liquid are growing much slower, probably because they have been broken by the winter wind and snow.

Not to mention how an ordinary person like Niu Shan could possibly climb the mountain. His six-cent fate couldn't be saved by the heavy snow. "It's better not to go, it's better not to go. At least the family can have a good New Year."

Thinking of this, Chen Yang stopped standing at the entrance of the temple, shook off the snow, and went to the backyard to use the spiritual liquid of the month.

Chen Yang arrived at the field, where the ground was covered with thick snow. However, he did not try to clear it away. Instead, he took out the melted snow water from the previous night, dripped some spiritual liquid into it, and scooped a full ladleful for Tao Ya.

As the spiritual liquid was poured, the snow on it melted instantly.

In Chen Yang's eyes, he saw that the peach buds, which were originally listless and even had wrinkled leaves, had begun to grow slowly.

Not only did the originally wrinkled branches and leaves unfold, but even the roots and stems became thicker and even grew an inch upwards out of thin air.

The effect was quite remarkable. If a few more scoops were added, Chen Yang would believe it if he were told that peaches could be eaten directly next spring.

The peach buds then continued to grow wildly, until they were about 1.2 inches taller than before, at which point they slowly stopped growing.

However, its roots and branches are now much thicker, so the snow can no longer harm it.

Thinking this through, Chen Yang stroked his beard and laughed heartily.

He then poured the remaining spiritual liquid onto the six Solomon's seal plants. As for the green amaranth and the like, they were already far superior to ordinary plants, so they were no longer needed.

Chen Yang then put away the wooden bucket, returned to the temple, and began to busy himself with other things.

He picked up a newly made whisk next to the statue of the Three Pure Ones and began to clean the hall.

Although it's called a duster, it's actually just a wooden stick wrapped with several layers of soft rabbit fur. After sweeping and washing it in water, it achieves the same effect.

Chen Yang had lived alone for over twenty years in his previous life, so he was used to this situation.

First, I carefully wiped the wooden beams inside the Sanqing Hall. Although some paint came off, it didn't affect anything.

Then they sprinkled some water on the ground and began to sweep away the dust with a bamboo broom.

After all this work, the Sanqing Hall was cleaner than ever before this year.

In particular, the three clay sculptures of the Three Pure Ones are so shiny that even the corners of their clothes are gleaming. The glaze that was once covered by dust is now revealed, giving the temple an extra touch of spirituality.

But cleaning the Sanqing Hall wasn't the end of it. There was also the kitchen, the Taoist quarters, and the incense burner in the courtyard, all of which Chen Yang cleaned thoroughly.

Finally, the snow-white rabbit fur wrapped around the stick turned black and could no longer be washed white. Only then was Chen Yang considered the cleaning finished.

Now it's already Chen Shi (7-9 AM), and in another hour it will be noon.

Knowing that no guests could come today, Chen Yang went to the entrance of the temple and closed the gate.

As for the matter of Niushan, let it be.

Chen Yang wasn't angry about this. After all, the snow was falling heavier and heavier, making it impossible to climb the mountain even if he wanted to. If he were in his shoes, he would have given up immediately. There was no need to risk the lives of father and son for a name.

Chen Yang then turned and went to the kitchen, leaving only the increasingly heavy snow falling throughout the temple.

Meanwhile, in the Black Wind Mountains, amidst the icicles hanging from the trees, a dark-skinned man in a black coat was carrying large and small bags of things. However, something was protruding from his chest, which looked rather strange.

In the desolate mountains and wilderness, amidst such heavy snow and wind, there was such a strange man.

If Chen Yang were here, he would definitely recognize who this was—it was Niu Shan.

Niu Shan's face was flushed red from the wind. He was wearing two coats, with another one wrapped around his chest, while his son was wrapped in three layers.

Niu Shan carefully trod on the non-slippery ground while trying his best to maintain his balance.

In his hands were a pound of smoked pork, a stack of yellow paper, a stick of incense, and two newly sewn light blue Taoist robes, which he had Xiuping sew in the shape of the immortal.

For this reason, he even went to the Huang family landlord and bought two more bolts of cloth. Of course, the best cloth was given to the immortal, and the rest they sewed into new clothes themselves.

At this time, the wind and snow on Black Wind Mountain became even heavier, and Niu Shan could hardly move an inch. He had no choice but to find a snow-covered bush to take shelter in. He took out a piece of fried glutinous rice cake with meat from his inner pocket, poured out some turbid wine from the cowhide pot at his waist, and ate it.

Meanwhile, Niu Shan's son was still sleeping soundly in his arms, and Niu Shan smiled irritably.

"You silly boy, you're sleeping so soundly. Sleep well, sleep well, when you wake up your father will take you to where you are."

Soon after, only the crunching sound of Niu Shan eating his frozen, hard glutinous rice cakes and the howling wind and snow filled the mountains.

Inside the temple, Chen Yang cut two wild rabbits into sections in the kitchen, chopped some wild ginger and scallions, and then marinated them. He sprinkled some coarse salt on them before starting a fire.

Just as Chen Yang bent down, a sound came from inside the temple of something falling to the ground and breaking.

Chen Yang was puzzled. He pushed open the kitchen door and came to the front of the Sanqing Hall. He saw that several tiles on the beam of the Sanqing Hall had fallen down and slid into the courtyard and smashed.

Perhaps it's because the snow is too thick that it's like this, but it also means that this temple really needs to be repaired.

Chen Yang entered the Sanqing Temple, looked up at the spot where the tile had fallen, and breathed a sigh of relief when he found that no snow had fallen there.

Chen Yang bowed to the Three Pure Ones.

"Master, please don't be angry, Master, please don't be angry. Your disciple will definitely repair it next year."

After bowing three more times on the prayer mat, Chen Yang got up and prepared to continue preparing his New Year's Eve dinner.

Sigh, I still have other things to do this afternoon, so I need to prepare early.

Just as Chen Yang returned to the kitchen and was about to start a fire again, a sound rang out from inside the temple. This time, however, it wasn't a piece of tile falling; it seemed to be coming from the temple gate.

Chen Yang asked, somewhat puzzled, "Oh? What fell down this time?"
