Becoming a god starting from the weasel

Chapter 48: Red Ganoderma Pill

As the full moon shone, Chen Yang returned to the temple, while the owl flew away with a cooing sound.

Looking at the moon, which had already begun to wane, Chen Yang could only sigh helplessly.

"But I can't cultivate today."

Chen Yang didn't mind. He put away the spirit wine given to him by Old Master Fox, took a bath in the dark by the mountain stream, and then lay down on the bed in the Taoist temple to sleep.

When Chen Yang dreamt, he couldn't help but recall what the little red fox had said about the cave master.

He didn't know what the title was, but he could say it was similar to a title from his previous life's "Journey to the West".

"It should be something like that."

Chen Yang only left an impression in his mind before going to sleep, as thinking about it so much was pointless.

The next morning, Chen Yang slept until noon before waking up. He was only awakened when something fell to the ground in the yard.

Chen Yang changed into his Taoist robe and got up to take a look, only to find that another tile had fallen off the Sanqing Hall.

I don't know if the Three Pure Ones are unhappy or urging me to get up.

Chen Yang didn't think so; he believed that he should renovate the Taoist temple as soon as possible.

However, although Chen Yang has recently been studying the Civil Engineering section of the Miscellaneous Books and Catalogues, that stuff does take some time.

After finishing his morning lessons, Chen Yang went to the kitchen to fry two eggs before thinking about the repairs:

"Right now, we need to get the tiles done and the paint applied, but we can take our time with the rest. We can ask Niu Shan for help."

After finishing the last bite of the egg, Chen Yang thought to himself:

"However, next month will be the busy farming season, so this matter cannot be rushed. We'll discuss it after he goes up the mountain."

Then Chen Yang went to cut bamboo to make a small bamboo chair and practice his woodworking skills.

A month passed quickly, and the weather grew hotter and hotter.

However, there was no severe drought this year. Chen Yang put down his miscellaneous books and catalogs and covered his face with them.

"Civil engineering is indeed difficult to learn. Learning it isn't enough; you also have to do it yourself. I wonder how sturdy the civil engineering in my previous life was."

Chen Yang studied it for a month and only managed to grasp a small part of it; practical application was still a long way off.

Chen Yang lay sprawled on a simple bamboo recliner.

A few peaches, having shed most of their fuzz, hung among the branches and leaves of the peach tree above.

Chen Yang wanted to do something else to lift his spirits, but apart from cooking, reading, and farming, there wasn't much else to do.

The only pill-making technique I learned was also impossible to perform because the spiritual honey and dendrobium were delayed.

Just as Chen Yang was thinking, on the path leading down the mountain to the outer mountain, a small black bear was walking upright, carrying a small basket on its back and holding a book sewn from leaves in its hands:

"When heaven and earth were first separated... um, um, then sound was formed, and flying, swimming, moving, and planting plants each had their own language. There is an ancient book called 'The Bird Classic'... um, it can distinguish the cries of birds, and the Zhou dynasty established Yi people who could understand the language of birds... but ordinary people's eyes are closed by worldly dust, and they cannot discern the harmony of sounds."

Just as Chen Yang was about to take a nap, a soft reading voice came from outside the fence, though he didn't seem to recognize some of the characters.

Just as Chen Yang was wondering what was going on, there was a knock at the fence, followed by a deep, honest voice calling out:

"Is anyone there? Is anyone there? My dad sent me to deliver some honey."

Upon hearing this, Chen Yang stood up as well: "Spirit Honey, you've finally arrived."

But when Chen Yang got up and went to the fence, he was dumbfounded.

He saw a small black bear, half a head smaller than him, taking bamboo tubes out of a basket and putting two packets of leaves on the ground.

Whether it was because the little black bear used too much force or something else, the leaves actually scattered, revealing a plant inside that looked like moss, just like the Dendrobium described in the Miscellaneous Books and Catalogues.

"Finally, I can refine pills."

Chen Yang looked at the two items and couldn't help but show a happy expression. After all, studying civil engineering every day made him feel like he had aged ten years.

Chen Yang opened the fence gate, and the little black bear noticed him, then said:

"I can give you this spirit honey, but this stone... well, you have to trade it for two barrels of monkey wine."

The little black bear held up a bamboo tube filled with honey, its expression extremely serious.

Chen Yang opened the leaf package and saw that it contained two tubes of golden honey that looked like maltose.

If it weren't for the few unfortunate bees that had been swatted dead inside, Chen Yang would have thought someone had poured maltose in there.

Furthermore, upon closer inspection, it reveals a subtle honey fragrance, seemingly containing the scent of a hundred flowers, while also emanating a hint of spiritual energy—it is indeed spiritual honey.

Afterwards, Chen Yang went to the Taoist temple and gave the little black bear two barrels of monkey wine that he had obtained from Black Hair.

The little black bear opened the bucket, licked its finger, and then nodded.

"That's the taste."

Just after he finished speaking, the little black bear was about to leave, but Chen Yang called him back:

"There's something I'm quite curious about: why are you, little bear, delivering the honey? Where's your father?"

Chen Yang still had a deep impression of that big bear, not only because it bowed to him, but also because of its relationship with Old Master Fox.

Upon hearing this, the little black bear, who was about to continue delivering honey to other families, closed the book and stopped, then said:

"My father and Old Master Fox have gone up to the plains; the cave master summoned them..."

Then the little black bear quickly left, clearly a bit shy.

Then, the little black bear's intermittent reading voice came from the path again.

"The cave master?"

This was the second time Chen Yang had heard this title, but this time there was definitely more information.

Is it possible to summon someone like Old Master Fox?

Even the bears went along. Could it be that the area down the mountain is actually the territory of the so-called cave master?

After thinking about it, Chen Yang decided to give up. After all, it had nothing to do with him at the moment, so he stopped thinking about it.

After carefully storing the dendrobium and honey, Chen Yang returned to the courtyard.

This time, however, he didn't lie on the chair; instead, he started working.

Chen Yang used up the spiritual liquid in the morning, mainly on Huang Jing.

The remaining residue of the spiritual liquid was scattered in the vegetable field.

Chen Yang originally intended to use it on the Red Ganoderma, but there weren't many promising ones in this batch, so Chen Yang ultimately decided to give up.

New red buds have sprouted again inside the shed, while the previous batch of red Ganoderma lucidum had already been taken down by Chen Yang.

However, only the spore powder was left; the rest was crushed into pieces by Chen Yang using a newly made stone mortar and dumped into the rice paddy.

Chen Yang pulled off some of the less desirable shoots and then went to the spirit rice field.

The spirit rice had already grown extremely sturdy, and a scarecrow stood in the field.

Chen Yang would come here from time to time to check if anything else was trying to do anything to his spirit rice.

Fortunately, the area around the Taoist temple was indeed safe, and nothing like that happened.

After confirming that everything was alright, Chen Yang got busy and started preparing to refine the Crimson Ganoderma Pill.

After all, Chen Yang had completely used up the Monkey Spirit Wine this month, which was why he was so troubled. Now, it just so happens that he can get a fresh supply.

I had already gone through the prescription and the technique dozens of times in my mind, and today was the perfect day to give it a try!

Just as Chen Yang was full of fighting spirit, almost half of the village of Huangni'ao was gathered around a few acres of extremely strange fields, watching something.

Although much of the area around the field had been demolished, it was still clear that it had been surrounded by things before.

Niu Shan stood on the edge of the field, while below, Big Dog, Sanwa, and a group of others were harvesting rice, including Wu Datian.
