Chapter 99 The Church of Henry

A massive crowd continued to gather, and the eyes of the elderly, women, and children, who had endured so much suffering, were red.

Some people in the front row even lost control of their emotions and tried to rush over.

Some people had already knelt down on both knees.

"My sage, please grant us another miracle!"

"Save my child!"

The soldiers responsible for maintaining order were startled and quickly spread their arms to block the surging crowd with their bodies.

"Step back! Maintain order!"

The scene suddenly became lively.

Henry himself stood there, oblivious to what was happening.

"Do they...know me?"

Henry was aware that many people had witnessed him killing the rotting flies in the camp.

Henry understood that a hero could become a source of solace for desperate people, but he also harbored a hint of demonic nature. How could he possibly attract so many worshippers just from a single trip?

One's own people?

They even called him a saint.

Accompanied by a series of gibberish, Anastasius somehow managed to pop half his head out of the armored wall again.

Upon hearing these words, that indescribable organ felt as if it had suffered a tremendous injustice.

"You're more than just an acquaintance; you're a big star in the community now."

"star?"

"Um."

The strange noises emanating from Anastasius grew increasingly vexed.

"During this time, they ate the flesh that grew from me and drank the blood that I purified."

"They live in the house I built, and I even keep out any filthy creatures that try to get in."

As it spoke, it pointed at Henry with its tentacles, looking like it wanted to cry but couldn't.

"I'm the one who supports them, but they're the ones who thank you."

Henry was even more puzzled.

Why?

"Because you walk with me, and you're more human."

"Everyone thinks you must be a saint sent by the emperor."

"You not only killed the invading demons, but also, while you were out slaying demons, you reformed a lost demon, leading it to abandon darkness and embrace the light."

At this point, its tone became increasingly resentful.

"The Church of Henry has now grown incredibly powerful."

"After all, when Chaos invaded before, most of the churches that were founded among the refugees died because they had been associated with Chaos."

"Although many people died in the Henry Church, it was revived because of me."

"I heard that about a third of the people in the entire camp now believe in this, which is probably why the Grand Commander wants to get on your good side."

Henry's lips twitched.

"Worship—the Henry Cult?"

"yes."

Anastasius, bored out of his mind, started counting his tentacles.

"There are quite a few versions as well."

"The most widely circulated rumor is that you are actually a living saint under the emperor's throne, and that you wear knight's armor only to conceal your identity as a woman."

(PS: Most of the saints recognized by emperors were women, while male saints were mostly appointed by the state religion.)

"The Emperor brought you here to save this ship from disaster, while I am a demonic mount who, after being moved, submitted to the saint—"

Faced with this absurd wave of religious fervor, Henry finally couldn't help but rub his forehead.

"What on earth are they thinking about every day?!"

Anastasius felt even more aggrieved.

"They are clearly provided for by me."

It lowered its enormous eyeballs, scrutinizing its body, which was covered in eyeballs and tentacles.

In the end, he could only sigh in resignation.

"Just because I look like a demon?"
