Mystery: When the Lost Homelanders Meet the Lost Homeland Call

Chapter 12 You may no longer have the Hidden Sage, but you still have me!

As he spoke, old Neil's voice trembled with emotion, and one by one, past events resurfaced before his eyes, piecing together a tragedy as he recounted them.

Lynn listened in silence.

He knew that if he didn't sever his connection with the Hidden Sage here, the evil god's corruption would gradually deepen, eventually completely eroding Old Neil's sanity and turning him into a monster.

Even after he became a monster, he still followed the Seeker's motto: "Do as you please, but do not harm."

"I made a mistake when I performed the ritual magic. I failed to cure her illness and save her. I know it's because my mastery of mysticism is not good enough. If I were a high-sequence powerhouse, things would be much easier."

"So I plan to use the method of 'life alchemy' to prepare a body for her that will not age. Sequence 4 of the Church of the Earth Mother Goddess is good at 'life alchemy', and the corresponding sequence of the 'Generalist' pathway can also barely do it. Well, I will use the grace of the gods to complete it."

"Then, I will summon her soul from the spirit world and pray for divine help to reunite the spirit and the body."

Seeing Lynn's silence, old Neil's narration became more passionate.

"I heard it, I tried the first part, it's really true! This is a gift from God, He keeps telling me, describing it, He is, He is..."

Old Neil's voice froze for a moment, and after a dozen seconds, he said, with a mixture of confusion and fear:

"He is the hidden sage..."

"What have I done?"

After Lynn erased the cognitive pollution, Old Neil finally connected the evil god he had seen in the materials with the "revelation" he had received.

"It's alright, that's how evil gods are," Lynn comforted her, his cold calm revealing an almost fanatical certainty.

"They lurk in the flesh and soul of the faithful, taking advantage of our moments of weakness."

"But you must know, old Neil, from the moment the first fire was lit in the darkness, humanity has been fighting against such a being. We are small, we are fleeting, our bodies can be twisted, our memories can be corrupted, our souls can be torn apart—but we have never yielded."

"'But do not harm'—you hold onto it, and even madness hasn't made you forget it. So don't be afraid. You've made mistakes, you've been deceived, but you've never betrayed yourself."

Lynn paused, his gaze settling calmly on old Neil's cloudy but now clear eyes, as if trying to nail those words into the depths of his soul.

"Evil gods? Let them come. Let them roar, let them corrupt, let them unleash their so-called 'divine pronouncements.' Our flames do not need the permission of the gods; they burn simply because we choose to burn."

Old Neil instinctively felt that the evil god Lynn was talking about was not the evil god he knew. The things Lynn was talking about seemed to have not yet happened, and the history he was talking about did not make much sense, but he still gained power from these words.

Indeed, Lynn wasn't referring to the evil god of the Mysterious World; his words just now stitched together the setting of Warhammer 40k and the plot of Dawnblade.

But this belief is real.

It's already quite impressive that the people of this world have been able to develop a potion system and an ordination system. Lynn wouldn't criticize anything; he just wanted to do even better.

He would feel pressured if he didn't do better with such abilities.

"However, resurrection is not entirely impossible," Lynn said, his tone becoming more relaxed.

"You may not have the Hidden Sage, but you still have me! I can totally guide your ritual, can't I? Just like when I saved you."

Old Neil felt a strange sense of irritation about what Lynn was saying, but this feeling vanished in an instant as Lynn began to explain his plan.

"So, so, and so... when you go back, introduce me like this..."

Old Neil's eyes grew brighter, revealing nothing, nothing tainted. Lynn's account was frank, well-reasoned, logically clear, and with well-defined steps.

"This... I really don't know how to repay you..."

While overjoyed, old Neil couldn't help but feel worried. He was quite old and had seen a lot in life, and he found it hard to believe that there really was someone who would help others unconditionally.

Lynn replied, "In my view, this is actually a collaboration. In the process of achieving our ultimate goal, we can gain a better understanding of the nature of the world, and I also need your help in my study of the occult."

Such a powerful being needs my help in research?

Old Neil chuckled inwardly and shook his head, thinking that such words could only fool children.

So it really was all out of pure good intentions?

How is that possible?

unless……

That is a god.

All church scriptures say that God loves the world, and as a senior believer, Old Neil naturally believed in this as well.

Old Neil's expression immediately turned serious. If the being before him was a god, then he would be the first person since the Fourth Age to meet a true god!

Since the end of the Fourth Age, the gods have not roamed the earth, and no one has seen the gods for a thousand years. Am I about to become the first?

Thinking of this, he immediately and cautiously began, "I have not yet asked your name, may I ask if..."

Lynn said helplessly, "I told you there's no need to be so polite. I'm just a man who lost his homeland, named Lynn."

"Okay, Mr. Lynn, this way please." Even though Lynn said that, Old Neil still didn't dare to be too negligent, nor did he dare to think too much about why the other party didn't mention his surname.

"Sigh." Lynn sighed, hoping to change this impression later, and then got into the carriage.

Meanwhile, at Moretti's home.

Klein, who had just finished washing potatoes in the public restroom, shivered and seemed to sense that something was wrong.

He'd experienced that feeling before—it meant someone was trying to freeload off him!

Oh no, my little bit of money is about to disappear!
