I made up magic and taught a world-destroying witch?

Chapter 53: The Purple Thread, Starting with the Accidental Tying of the Wrist

Mia raised her hand and asked:

"Grace! Did you release this?"

"I'm sorry!" Grace said immediately. "I didn't mean to."

She was just trying to turn on the white light, so how did a string suddenly fly out and tie up Mia?

What is this?

Grace became increasingly panicked and quickly turned to run downstairs.

When she ran to the steps outside the experimental tower, Mia was still standing there, intently studying the pale purple thread.

"I'm sorry, Mia, I'll figure out how to untie it right away."

Grace wanted to quickly withdraw the strange light, but the more she thought about it, the tighter the purple thread became.

Congratulations, Grace!

Unexpectedly, Mia was completely unaware of Grace's troubles, and she happily said to Grace, "You did it!"

"success?"

"Yes!" Mia held up her hand to show her. "Look, it really does bind me."

Grace: "..."

What kind of success is this? What she wanted was white light.

The man said she could shine for herself first, and she really tried to imagine that light that belonged to her, but what appeared in the end was a purple thread that flew out of the window and tied Mia's wrist.

She looked down at the purple line on Mia's wrist, and a strange thought popped into her head.

Mia's furnace light can soften the crystal, but what about her purple thread? It bound Mia.

Is her light a constraint?

The thought made Grace frown; she didn't want that kind of light.

If what she ends up with is something that binds others, then what is it?

Seeing that Grace's expression was off, Mia quickly said:

"Um, I think this is pretty good magic."

I can't really explain it, it just... didn't hurt me.

Mia shook her wrist again.

"This is much better than my old, wildly sparking sparks. My old sparks would burn things as soon as they came out, but yours only wrapped around my hand. This is already very gentle!"

Grace: "..."

For a moment, she didn't know whether she should be comforted by those words.

Mia looked down again and took a closer look at the purple line that was slowly fading.

"Besides, didn't the master say not to rush?"

After Mia finished speaking, she felt a little embarrassed.

"Of course, I'm not as eloquent as you are, but I just feel that what you're saying is definitely not useless."

The purple thread dissolved like mist on Mia's wrist. She moved her wrist, looked at Grace, and suddenly became excited, saying:

"Let's go ask the doctor!"

"The master just went out," Grace said instinctively.

“I know,” Mia said immediately. “I just heard that the gentleman and Professor Brewster went to Grey Pigeon Town together.”

"Grey Pigeon Town?"

Grace had already vaguely guessed it when she saw the carriage leave the north gate from the window, and she didn't expect it to be true.

Mia continued:

"I heard something happened at the abandoned portal. I originally came to the Experiment Tower to ask you how to write my records, but I got tied up by you."

As she spoke, she suddenly realized that this made perfect sense.

"Wait! Look, isn't this the new observation?"

Grace: "The results of your observations?"

"That's right!" Mia thought, finding the argument increasingly convincing.

"The purple line you just released is the result of our observation. Let's go find the doctor now and tell him about it, okay?"

Grace hesitated for a moment, about to refuse, when Mia suddenly grabbed her hand:

"Alright, let's not hesitate any longer, let's set off now!"

If we don't run into you, sir, I'll take you to Grey Pigeon Town!

The atmosphere outside the abandoned portal in Grey Pigeon Town is completely different from before.

When Joseph stepped off the college carriage, the first thing he saw was a whole circle of makeshift ropes and wooden stakes, with all the merchants driven far away.

Of course, Joseph was very skeptical that this primitive method could actually stop people.

After all, the merchants in Grey Pigeon Town can sell out the same lamp as the one used in the God's Resurrection overnight. Expecting them to be scared off by a rope is a bit of an underestimation of their professionalism.

Several patrolmen stood guard near the entrance, and the knights of the White Dove Church also stood beside the old stone platform. Half of the cracked circular stone platform was buried in the grass, and the stone pillars looked somewhat ominous than the day before.

Of course, it's also possible that Joseph is in a bad mood right now, so everything he sees looks ominous.

As he and Brewster approached, a young knight strode toward them.

The knight looked very young, with short brown hair and a sunny smile on his face. If it weren't for the abandoned portal in the background, Joseph would have thought he had stepped out of the cover of some hot-blooded knight novel.

Upon seeing them, the young knight immediately raised his hand in salute.

"Hahaha! You two must be professors from the Royal Academy? I'm Alan Bright from the White Dove Chapel, in charge of the perimeter security here."

Brewster nodded slightly.

"Brewster, Professor of Practical Courses at the Royal Academy."

Joseph could only repeat, "Joseph Grantham."

"I know, I know." Allen's eyes lit up.

"You must be Professor Grantham from the New Magic Revival Project? Haha, we've all heard a lot about you."

Joseph: "..."

Let's not talk about him anymore. Why does this guy always start laughing? Is he a church knight or is laughter some kind of spell?

Joseph remained polite and said:

Most rumors are unreliable.

"Of course, of course," Allen nodded.

Sister Evelyn also said that everything should be judged based on facts first, and then under God's guidance, and not led astray by rumors.

After hearing this, Joseph felt a little more favorably disposed towards Sister Evelyn. At least she didn't seem like the type to immediately kneel down and cry for a miracle upon seeing a ball of light.

"Where is Sister Evelyn?" Brewster asked.

"Sister Evelyn was just stopped by a dockworker's wife," Allen said.

"The lady said her husband has been trembling ever since he was rescued last night, and he keeps saying he sees black lines moving. The children are also frightened. Lady Evelyn is comforting them and should be here soon."

Being a candidate for sainthood isn't easy either; while others investigate blasphemous spells, she also has to be responsible for providing psychological support after the disaster.

This job sounds glamorous, but in reality it's like a church version of a general laborer.

Allen then said:

"The entrance to the old diversion well has been resealed, and no one is going down there for the time being. We need to wait for the special affairs officer sent by the royal court."

"The royal court?" Brewster frowned.

Allen nodded.

"The abandoned portal is close to the Royal Academy and involves Grey Dove Town and White Dove Wharf, so the royal family also needs to send someone to confirm it."

Joseph: "..."

There are already members of the academy, church, and Grey Pigeon Town patrol on site, and a royal court member is coming soon.

If another adventurers' guild joins, this place could just announce a massive joint party for Grey Pigeon Town right here and now.

The theme is "Nobody wants to take responsibility, but everyone has to be there."

As Joseph was thinking, the sound of a carriage came from the street corner in the distance, and a man in a dark long coat got off the carriage.

He was probably in his thirties, with neatly combed hair, wearing gloves, and dressed impeccably.

Allen said in a low voice:

"That must be Lord Lance, the Special Affairs Officer of the Inner Court."

As Lance approached, he first glanced at the abandoned portal, then looked at Joseph, Brewster, and Allen standing there.

Lance nodded slightly, as if to say hello.

"Young professors from the Royal Academy, young knights and nuns from the Church."

It seems the unusual state of the abandoned gate in Grey Pigeon Town isn't considered too serious by you all.
