Law America, the Devil's Agent

Chapter 60 Ladies, Don't Take Off Your Clothes While Men Are Driving

Link stuffed Omir's business card into his coat pocket, turned out of the smoking area in the side corridor of the courthouse, and walked along the empty corridor toward the parking lot.

The courtrooms on both sides of the corridor had closed, and the lively and bustling scene from before was gone forever.

But Link enjoyed the quiet.

When he pushed open the heavy fire door of the parking lot, his car was parked there quietly.

He took the car keys out of his pocket, pressed the unlock button, and the indicator light on the door handle flashed twice.

"Hey, lawyer, are you in such a hurry to leave?"

Link turned around.

Elena White was standing on the steps at the entrance to the parking lot, the hem of her dark prosecutor's suit fluttering slightly in the wind, and she was carrying a small black handbag.

She loosened her hair from her ponytail, letting the golden-brown strands fall over her shoulders.

The capable and assertive demeanor she displayed in court has faded, replaced by a relaxed and languid air that accompanies the end of the trial.

"Miss White, you are the star of the show today."

After seeing the results, I naturally chose to leave.

Link twirled the car key on his finger and responded with a smile.

Elena waved her hand and walked over slowly in her high heels.

"Stop fooling around."

You and my brother had already laid the groundwork for this prosecution case.

I?

He's just someone who carries out orders.

You fabricated the evidence, you have the witnesses, and you even got the opposing lawyer on your side of the law.

What I did in court today was nothing more than reading out what you had prepared.

Even the most meticulous plan needs people who can execute it.

Miss White is just that kind of person.

"alright!"

Elena interrupted him, but the smile on her face and the appreciation in her eyes became even more obvious.

She then gracefully walked to the passenger side door, opened it without hesitation, and got in.

"Honestly, you've done me a huge favor."

Not only did it help me take a hit on that hypocritical guy Mings—

I still laugh when I think about the look on his face in the office a few days ago.

They even helped me take on such a high-profile case. I really should thank you properly.

She placed her handbag on her lap, leaned back in her seat, and turned her head to look at Link, who was still standing outside the car door:

"Let's go, it's my treat today."

Let's grab a meal first, then we'll go get a drink together.

How was it?

Link took out his phone and glanced at today's schedule:

I was supposed to go to the law firm this afternoon to handle a few documents, but they weren't urgent, so I could leave them to Benny to do later.

So he put his phone back in his pocket, went around to the driver's side, and opened the car door.

"Then I shall respectfully comply."

"Fine, don't just stand there like an idiot, step on the gas!"

Come on.

A beautiful night awaits us.

The Aston Martin's engine growled as it drove out of the courthouse parking lot.

……

The carriage was not spacious, and the two sat side by side. The faint scent of Elena's perfume wafted through the enclosed space.

As the car turned onto the main road, she suddenly broke the silence:

"I think I saw some members of the Viper gang near the courthouse today. Were they here to see you?"

"A poisonous viper?"

"Omir Sadich of Vansk".

"Viper" is a nickname in Philadelphia's legal circles. This guy is a notorious litigator, and those who get entangled with him will suffer greatly.

My brother had dealt with him once before, and he came back and cursed at him for days.

"It's him. He came to see me."

"He came to see you?"

Elena turned to look at him, her eyes filled with a hint of inquiry:

"Could it be... the Philadelphia General Hospital serial murder case?"

Oh right, he's the one who collaborated with Mings.

You are rivals.

What does he want with you? Is he threatening you?

Link smiled and shook his head, his tone so casual that it seemed he was simply stating a trivial matter.

"He has withdrawn the charges. It was all a small misunderstanding. He came to apologize to me."

Elena leaned back in her chair and clicked her tongue slightly.

"You're not simple to make him bow down."

I know Omir too well. He never backs down in court. Even with evidence plastered on his face, he can continue to argue without batting an eye.

He was able to come and apologize outside the courtroom—

Link, what exactly did you get on his nerves?

"where.

I'm just an honest, hardworking nerd.

Link blinked innocently, "Faced with a defense that admits its mistakes and is willing to correct them, I had no choice but to soften my heart and let it go."

"Are you kidding me, Link!"

Elena burst out laughing and patted his shoulder with the back of her hand:

"If I hadn't seen you walk out of the Blood Hands' headquarters right there in front of the gang, which had just been wiped out, I would have actually believed your nerdy story!"

You do have a rather unique sense of humor.

Link chuckled and shrugged, casually adding a few witty remarks.

Elena leaned back in the passenger seat and giggled, the last bit of tension from the court hearing dissipating with her laughter.

After driving for a while, Elena glanced at the street scenes rushing past the car window and suddenly realized that this was not the direction to the city center.

"This is not the way to the hotel, nor is it the direction to the restaurant."

You're not going to kidnap me, are you?

Where are we going?

Link glanced down at his outfit for the day:

To avoid drawing attention, he wore only a simple dark gray jacket today, a stark contrast to his usual bespoke suit.

"Wear this to dinner and drinks?"

That's way too much of a stereotype about Chinese people.

Come to my place and change your clothes first.

He glanced at Elena sideways:

"And you? Still wearing your prosecutor's uniform?"

"I was prepared."

Elena patted the small handbag on her lap, unzipped it, and inside was a brownish-red dress.

She pulled her skirt out and shook it, then began to unbutton her suit jacket.

Link caught the movement out of the corner of his eye and froze for a moment.

"Wait—Elena, what are you doing?"

"Don't be nervous. It's just changing clothes."

Elena took off her suit jacket, revealing a close-fitting white yoga vest underneath. The lines of her shoulders and collarbone were clearly visible in the light streaming in from the car window.

She continued to reach for the buttons on her shirt, her movements unhurried and unhurried, showing no intention of avoiding it.

Link kept his eyes fixed on the road ahead, his hands firmly on the steering wheel, his facial muscles slightly tense.

"Ms. Elena, you could have let me know in advance if you needed to change clothes. This was a bit unexpected."

"What's wrong, dear Mr. Link?"

Are you afraid to look? Are you nervous?

Elena slipped the brown-red dress over her shoulders, put her hands inside the sleeves, and after changing, turned her head to look at Link's wooden face, and couldn't help but chuckle:

"Big lawyer, you're not a virgin, are you?"

Link slowly turned his head and carefully looked her up and down:

The brown-red dress was already wrapped snugly around her body, but the zipper at the back hadn't been zipped up yet.

His gaze lingered on her face for a moment, then he spoke in a serious, almost deliberate tone:

"Madam, under normal circumstances, I would never let this opportunity pass."

But I'm driving now, and we all need a safe driving environment, don't we?

That's what he said, but his gaze didn't immediately look away.

Elena felt her ears burning under his undisguised gaze and instinctively looked away from the windshield—

Then her expression changed.

"FUCK! Look ahead!"

Link quickly turned his head and swerved the steering wheel back to center, the car barely grazing the edge of a construction barrier ahead.

The tires rolled over the gravel belt, making a few dull thuds before settling down again.

"See..."

Link reduced the car's speed to below the speed limit, gripped the steering wheel firmly with both hands, and spoke in a more serious tone than before:

"Never take off your clothes while a man is driving, or the consequences will be severe."

"Pfft—"

Elena leaned back in her chair, covered her mouth with the back of her hand, and shook her shoulders several times before she managed to suppress her laughter.

Aston Martin turned onto Kensington Street, passed the familiar row of convenience stores and abandoned shops, and finally stopped in front of an old apartment building with mottled exterior walls.

Link's "home" has arrived

He turned off the engine, engaged the handbrake, and unbuckled his seatbelt.

"I'll be right back down after I go upstairs to change my clothes."

"Hurry up, our restaurant reservation is almost booked."

Elena leaned back in the passenger seat and waved at him.

Link pushed open the security door of the apartment building that could never be closed properly and walked up the stairs.

One of the motion-activated lights in the hallway was broken, and the remaining one emitted a pale white light amidst a weak buzzing sound.

He walked to the corner of his floor and suddenly stopped.

The door to his apartment appeared to be open.

Link's gaze sharpened.

I made sure to lock the door tightly before I left the house.

He slowed his pace, held his breath, and took a few more steps forward.

Only then did I notice that my old wooden apartment door, covered in sheet metal, was wide open, with several fresh pry marks on the door frame.

There were footsteps in the living room; it wasn't just one person.

My house was robbed?
