Ji Peiyong examined a very seriously ill patient whose vital signs were extremely weak, the kind of person who could die at any moment.

"To treat patients."

"Who gave you permission to treat the patient? Did you report this to our hospital leadership?"

"no."

"This is the ICU. You entered this critical medical area without the hospital's permission and started treating patients on your own initiative. Can you take responsibility if anything goes wrong?"

Ji Peiyong gave Ye Kai a severe dressing-down, and then said to Bai Jing,

"Dr. Bai, you allowed this person into our hospital's most important department to treat patients without authorization, which is a serious violation of hospital regulations. You must write a self-criticism and be suspended from your duties pending investigation!"

Security guards came up to arrest Ye Kai, but Bai Jing stood in front of him and shouted.

Just as Ye Kai was about to interrogate the bearded man, he suddenly heard a gust of wind behind him.

He bent over and looked down, a baseball bat brushing past his hair.

Five or six men, wielding baseball bats and batons, charged toward Ye Kai.

Ye Kai leaped up and landed behind the men, then unleashed a series of kicks, and the men fell to the ground one after another.

Ye Kai grabbed the bearded man and shouted, "Tell me, who sent you?"

A police car pulled up to the side of the road, and several policemen got out, drew their pistols, and pointed them at Ye Kai.

"Don't move! Hands up!"

Ye Kai slowly raised his hand, and Bai Jing quickly explained, "Officer, we were taking a walk here when these people attacked us with knives and baseball bats. We acted in self-defense."

A middle-aged, square-faced policeman said, "Whether it was self-defense or not is not up to you to decide; you need to go to the police station to make a statement."

He waved to his men, "Take them all to the police station!"

Ye Kai and Bai Jing were taken to a car, while the men who attacked Ye Kai were taken to a van.

The two cars sped to a police station called the Moat Police Station.

Ye Kai was taken to an interrogation room and handcuffed to a chair.

The middle-aged, square-faced police officer personally interrogated Ye Kai. He looked Ye Kai up and down before starting to ask questions.
