The three men followed at a leisurely pace, keeping a distance of several dozen meters; they were clearly repeat offenders.

Lin Yun walked to the gate at the entrance to the wilderness area. The guards were two soldiers wearing standard armor, with swords at their waists, and their demeanor was calm and composed.

He handed over his hunter's license, which the guard glanced at, his gaze landing on the letter A in the level column. He looked up at Lin Yun again, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

There are many talented individuals in the capital, and there are even eighteen-year-old A-level hunters, but very few dare to venture into the wilderness.

The guard handed the license back to Lin Yun and solemnly warned, "Your cultivation level is too low; try not to go too deep."

"Thank you for the reminder." Lin Yun took the license, put it away, and stepped through the alloy gate.

The moment you step into the wilderness, a rich scent of vegetation hits you, mixed with a faint smell of blood and the pungent odor of strange beasts.

The towering trees blocked out the sun, their trunks so thick that it took several people to encircle them, their branches and leaves layered upon layered, allowing only dappled sunlight to filter through.

The ground was covered with a thick layer of decaying leaves, which was soft and silent underfoot. Apart from a few small paths worn into the ground near the entrance, there were no paths to be seen as one ventured deeper into the area.

After a century of spiritual revival, these plants have grown wildly, completely swallowing up any traces of humanity that once existed.

Lin Yun took out a map, checked the direction, and headed towards the Five Dragons Mountain area where first-tier exotic beasts lived.

He moved very lightly, using his Wind Step technique to its fullest extent, weaving through the trees with almost no sound.

After walking for about five minutes, Lin Yun's ears twitched slightly.

From a great distance behind him, he heard the faint sound of a dry branch snapping underfoot; he wouldn't have noticed it if he hadn't been paying special attention.

A cold glint flashed in Lin Yun's eyes.

They've been targeted.

Ever since he survived an assassination attempt in the occupied Qingcheng area, he has become extremely vigilant about his surroundings.

After entering the Imperial Martial Arts Academy, he even sought advice from his homeroom teacher on counter-tracking techniques, becoming particularly sensitive to such tailing situations.

Is it murder and robbery?

Lin Yun's lips curled into a faint, cold smile.

He continued walking forward at the same pace, as if he hadn't noticed anything amiss.

After walking another hundred meters or so, a slightly open clearing appeared ahead, with several large rocks scattered on the ground, suitable for a fight.

Lin Yun stopped, put the supply bag in his hand on the ground, and took the Bloodfang Knife off his back and placed it on the rock next to him.

He stood against a thick, ancient tree, and spoke without turning his head, his voice carrying clearly to the rear.

"You've been following me for so long, come out now."

After he finished speaking, there was a few seconds of silence.

Immediately afterwards, three footsteps slowly sounded from different directions.

The rotten rat emerged from behind the bushes on the west side, holding a narrow-bladed dagger with a dark bluish-green blade.

Behind the boulder on the east side, Liu Si appeared, carrying a thick-backed machete, his muscular arms covered with old scars.

He Ping then circled around from behind, two short daggers already in his hands at his waist, his eyes sinister.

The three people stood in a triangle, blocking all of Lin Yun's escape routes, their coordination so perfect it was as if they had rehearsed it hundreds of times.

The rotten rat tilted its head and glanced at Lin Yun, its scars contorting into a sinister smile.

"Young man, you're quite alert. I thought I could follow you a little longer and find a more suitable place to make my move."

Lin Yun glanced at the three of them and said calmly, "If I didn't have some skills, I wouldn't dare to enter the wilderness area."

The rotten rat crossed his arms, not in a hurry to make a move, and slowly spoke like a cat catching a mouse: "Young man, I won't beat around the bush with you. Hand over your sword, boots, and all your valuables, and the three of us brothers will let you leave alive. We're all just trying to make a living, there's no need to fight to the death."

Upon hearing this, Lin Yun chuckled softly: "Do you even believe what you're saying?"

The smile on the rotten rat's face faded, and its eyes turned cold.

"In that case, I'll just have to kill you and then slowly search your belongings."

Lin Yun gently pushed the blade with his thumb, and a section of dark red edge popped out of the Blood Fang Blade, its cold light reflecting in his eyes.

"I never imagined I would have to use the blood of my own kind to sharpen my new blade."

The smile on the rotten rat's face remained unchanged, but the hand gripping the knife tightened.

He sensed the murderous intent in Lin Yun's tone, and a strange unease rose in his heart.

But when he looked at Lin Yun's qi and blood fluctuations, he clearly saw that he was only at the seventh level of Martial Apprentice, so he suppressed his unease.

He gave a wink to those around him and then shouted in a low voice, "Go!"

Liu Si was the first to move.

He stomped his feet hard on the ground, scattering the decaying leaves, and charged forward like a bull.

The thick-backed machete was raised high and brought down with a whistling sound, its force incredibly powerful.

If this strike lands squarely, even a martial artist at the peak of the Martial Apprentice realm would be knocked down along with their weapon.

Lin Yun did not take the hit head-on.

He turned lightly with his feet, his body sliding half a step to the side, barely avoiding the blade.

The blade grazed his shoulder, striking the stones on the ground and sending sparks and pebbles flying.

Almost at the same time, Lin Yun drew his sword.

"The Nine Forms of Startling Strings, the Strings Resound."

With a clear, resonant clang, the dark red blade flashed like a startled rainbow, slashing horizontally.

In a panic, Liu Si parried with his sword.

A deafening clang of metal rang out, making people's eardrums ache.

Liu Si felt a tremendous force travel along the blade, instantly splitting his tiger's mouth open and bleeding profusely. He was jolted back half a step, his face filled with disbelief.

He was at the peak of the Martial Apprentice level, and he cultivated a basic power-type cultivation method. How could he be repelled by a young man at the seventh level of the Martial Apprentice level with a single strike?

He Ping made his move at almost the same time as Liu Si.

He moved with incredible speed, skimming the ground to the left, his two daggers aimed at Lin Yun's waist and ribs from above and below, respectively. The angles were cunning and vicious, his aim was to kill.

Using the force of the recoil, Lin Yun turned around and flicked his wrist, slashing the edge of the Blood Fang Blade.

A flash of cold light, and He Ping felt a chill on his left arm, followed by excruciating pain.

He looked down and saw that the sleeve of his left arm had been ripped open, the flesh torn open, and blood gushed out instantly, so deep that the bone was visible.

"Well!"

He Ping grunted and took three steps back, almost dropping the dagger from his hand.

A hint of fear finally crept into his eyes as he looked at Lin Yun.

This kid is no fool at all.

That's a tough idea!

The rotten rat's face darkened completely.

He hadn't expected this young man to be so troublesome. In just one exchange, Liu Si was forced back, and He Ping was injured.

Without further hesitation, he pushed off with his feet, his figure darting out like a shadow, his narrow-bladed dagger stabbing straight at Lin Yun's back.

This strike was swift and ruthless, and the timing was impeccable, occurring precisely at the moment Lin Yun had forced He Ping back.

Lin Yun, however, seemed to have eyes in the back of his head.

He twisted his body sharply with a swift, wind-like movement, turning to the side in the blink of an eye.

The tip of the short knife grazed his ribs, tearing through his outer training uniform. The blade barely grazed his flesh, bringing a chill.

That was close.

Lin Yun's eyes turned cold, and he swung his sword back in a swift motion.

The rotting rat swerved to the side, but it was still a fraction of a second too late.

The blade of the Bloodfang Blade grazed his chest, tearing his clothes open instantly, leaving a gaping gash from which blood immediately seeped out.

The rotten rat stepped back a few paces, glanced down at the wound on its chest, and its eyes turned completely cold.

He originally thought it was just a fat sheep, but he didn't expect to kick a hornet's nest.

That's more than just a brilliant idea; it's downright insane.
