A lowly soldier becomes king, I slaughter my way through the late Tang Dynasty!

The Divine Sword Army, like an iron mountain pressing down on the ground, surged forth with a thunderous roar.

Zhang Yanzhe's troops, however, were only wearing thin iron light armor.

Their characteristics are agility and speed, and they are good at flanking maneuvers, charging in and harassing enemies with rapid fire.

In past field battles, light cavalry could raid, maneuver, and intercept infantry.

But today.

What they faced head-on was a thousand-strong heavy cavalry force charging at full speed!

Between heaven and earth, the thunderous sound of hooves clashing resounded.

The rebels sped up first, instinctively trying to break through the enemy lines using their usual tactics.

The soldiers drew their swords and spears, and their warhorses charged forward at full speed.

Their eyes were filled with longing for Bianliang, where countless riches and beautiful women were beckoning to them.

At this moment, no one could stop them from heading to Bianliang!

But as soon as the two sides made contact, Zhang Yanzhe's troops immediately realized that something was wrong!

Because of the gap between them and the other party.

It's like an abyss!

boom!!

The first impact determined life and death in an instant.

The soldiers and horses, armed with divine swords, were all in full armor, their combined force of a thousand pounds becoming one.

Zhang Yanzhe's army's frail horses crashed into the heavily armored iron formation, like eggs hitting rocks!

The light cavalry's sabers struck the heavy cavalry's breastplates and shoulder armor, only producing a few sparks!

Forget about cutting down the opponent, it could only leave a faint white mark.

Their spears pierced the horses' bodies, but they didn't expect that the Divine Sword Army's warhorses were also clad in full armor!

The spearhead was instantly deflected and bent by the armored personnel.

The Divine Sword Army merely followed the momentum and crashed into the enemy.

The light cavalry horse's ribs broke on the spot!

The horse flew sideways and crashed out, and the rider, armor and all, was thrown into the air by the enormous inertia!

Before it even hit the ground, it was crushed by the iron hooves that followed closely behind!

puff!

The sounds of flesh and blood tearing apart rose and fell.

The soldiers who were knocked away made a popping sound as they were crushed like fish bubbles.

The Divine Sword Army raised their long spears horizontally, taking advantage of the momentum of the charge.

He can take down two or three light cavalrymen in one go!

The armor was as thin as paper, easily penetrated by touch.

The spear pierced through his chest and back, bringing with it a shower of blood.

The speed, agility, and mobility that light cavalry relied on for survival were completely rendered useless against heavily cavalry in formation.

The entire battlefield instantly turned into a one-sided crushing defeat!

The Divine Sword Army thundered past.

After colliding with the overconfident Zhang Yanzhe, it didn't even slow down for a moment.

In just one engagement, the light cavalry formation completely collapsed.

The formation that was originally charging forward was reduced to more than half dead or wounded in an instant.

The warhorses neighed and fled in terror, the soldiers were filled with fear, shouting and dodging, and had lost all will to fight.

The Divine Sword Army cuts through tofu like a hot knife.

With just one charge, they crushed a bloody path through the two thousand men Zhang Yanzhe had sent to delay them!

The horrific scene ahead terrified the light cavalry behind them!

Their longing for Bianliang, their desire for gold, silver and beautiful women.

Under the crushing force of the Divine Sword Army's heavy cavalry, they were wiped out in an instant!

Wealth and beauty are desirable, but what is more important than life?

Almost instantly, those light cavalry who had not yet encountered the Divine Sword Army had only one thought left.

escape!

It's unclear who turned their horse around first.

In the blink of an eye, the entire light cavalry force collapsed!

The scattered cavalry, like withered leaves torn apart by a gale, fled in all directions.

The men and horses were in complete disarray, their formation utterly collapsed, leaving only a scene of panicked flight.

However, Zhao Kuangyin had promised Li Rui that he would at least annihilate two thousand enemy soldiers.

That's only one charge, how could that be enough?

"Change formation!!"

At Zhao Kuangyin's command, the Divine Sword Army instantly changed formation.

The orderly, charging formation instantly transformed into dozens of cone-shaped squads, which split up to pursue and eliminate the enemy.

Zhang Yanzhe's light cavalry, only seeking to escape, urged their warhorses forward with all their might.

However, they had traveled hundreds of miles from Zhenzhou over several days and finally arrived at Baimajin with great difficulty.

They were already exhausted.

The warhorse beneath him had already exhausted all its strength just from traveling.

At this point, no matter how tightly the rider squeezed the horse's belly, the horse could no longer generate any speed.

On the contrary, the rider's anxiety would cause the horse to become restless as well.

The faster you rush, the more flaws you reveal.

The Divine Sword Army followed closely behind, attacking from behind.

The lance doesn't require precise aiming; it relies solely on the speed of the warhorse to thrust and parry.

The fleeing light cavalry could only hear the heavy hoofbeats like drums behind them.

The next second, the spearhead pierced through his back and waist!

Both man and horse were thrown violently to the ground.

Some soldiers, resorting to clever tricks, abandoned their horses and ran, attempting to hide using the terrain.

But he was trampled over by the iron hooves of the galloping heavy cavalry, his bones and flesh smashed to pieces on the ground.

Across the wilderness, the sounds of screams, cries of agony, and the muffled thuds of horses collapsing and people falling were everywhere.

Before long, only one in ten of the fleeing light cavalry remained.

Of course, some light cavalry managed to escape by sheer luck.

But each of them was also covered in broken armor and blood.

They didn't dare look back, and fled for their lives, never daring to come any closer!

While Zhao Kuangyin was engrossed in the killing, he did not forget to search for Zhang Yanzhe in the crowd.

Although he had never met Zhang Yanzhe, he could still determine the location of the commander-in-chief by observing the enemy's formation.

however.

What Zhao Kuangyin did not expect was...

From the very beginning, once Zhang Yanzhe realized that he was facing heavily armored cavalry, he had no intention of going into battle to fight!

He ordered two thousand of his men to charge, just to buy time.

He himself abandoned his command flag and all his soldiers.

He only took two hundred personal guards with him and escaped in the chaos!

When Zhao Kuangyin looked around but still couldn't see the enemy's banners or command system, he realized that...

He also realized that he probably wouldn't be able to find Zhang Yanzhe.

During the day, one can also distinguish the enemy's status by the quality of their armor and warhorses.

At night, it becomes completely invisible from just a few dozen steps away.

Zhao Kuangyin immediately cursed.

"That cowardly Zhang Yanzhe! He's got a damn fast run!"

Left with no other choice, Zhao Kuangyin could only order the Divine Sword Army to annihilate the remaining remnants of the army!

Meanwhile.

Zhang Yanzhe, who was fleeing in panic, was still heading towards Bianliang!

The lieutenant generals all thought he had gone mad.

"General! The ambush at Baima Ferry shows that Bianliang was prepared. Why should we go?"

Zhang Yanzhe gritted his teeth and said.

"I don't know where these armored cavalry came from, but they could never be the army of Bianliang!"

I lost this battle, but I still have several thousand troops who have not yet crossed the river. I only need to order them to cross the river separately and regroup under the walls of Bianliang.

Even then, I will still be able to conquer Bianliang!

The lieutenant was about to speak.

Can be sudden.

Ahead, you can vaguely see dozens of people standing on their horses, right in the middle of the road!

Zhang Yanze slowed his pace slightly and stared at the scene with a wary gaze.

Among those dozens of people stood a large flag with two large characters written on it.

Jade Dragon

Almost instantly, Zhang Yanzhe shouted in horror.

"Li Rui!? Damn it! So this armored cavalry was brought by Li Rui! But how did he end up here?"

The deputy general was even more astonished upon hearing this.

"Is that Li Rui up ahead? Wasn't he supposed to be staying in Dingzhou? Why is he at Baimajin?"

Zhang Yanzhe's face darkened, and he quickly made a decision.

He suddenly shouted.

"Never mind all that! Li Rui only has fifty men at most. All generals, listen to my command, follow me and behead him!"

In Zhang Yanzhe's view, this was a golden opportunity!

Li Rui didn't have many people around him.

Although they were wearing heavy armor, the distance between the two sides was no longer enough for the warhorses to accelerate and start charging.

At this point, the momentum of the charge was gone.

These heavily armored cavalrymen would instead become cumbersome and clumsy.

What else could this be but a golden opportunity?

If Li Rui is killed, there might still be a chance to turn the tide on the main battlefield.

Even those armored cavalry could be subdued!

Zhang Yanzhe's eyes burned with renewed fervor as he led his personal guards in a fierce charge forward, roaring with excitement!

But we can wait until closer to the end.

Zhang Yanzhe and the others were bewildered.

The guards in front of Li Rui neither carried spears nor drew their swords.

Instead, he held a strangely shaped short gun and waited silently for them.
