"It's too bitter. I'll go for milk tea next time."

Xia Mi pushed her cup to the side of the table, rested her chin on her hand, and watched Chen Chen drink his iced Americano.

Chen Chen picked up the cup and took a sip, then frowned, realizing it was indeed bitter.

"You can really drink that much."

"You ordered it."

"You're going to drink it just because I order it? How come you have no opinions of your own?"

Xia Mi laughed as she spoke, poking the ice cubes in her cup with a straw, making a cracking sound.

"But it's alright, once I go to Beijing, there won't be anyone to help you order coffee randomly anymore, and you'll have to look at the menu yourself. It's kind of pitiful when you think about it."

It sounds like a joke.

Chen Chen didn't respond to that, but pushed his sunglasses up his nose and looked at her.

"You just said you were going to Beijing."

"Um."

Xia Mi raised her head, and a smile returned to her face.

"What, you can't bear to part with me?"

Chen Chen held the cup to his mouth, ignoring the joke.

"You didn't just call me today for coffee."

Xia Mi's smile froze instantly.

"I just wanted to have a chat with you. We're graduating now, and we won't have many chances to see each other anymore, so we had to see each other before I left."

Chen Chen put the cup back on the table.

"Xia Mi... I want to hear the truth."

Xia Mi's smile gradually turned cold.

"You're planning to say goodbye to me today, and then use your Word of Power to erase all memories of you from this past year. Do you think that's a good thing for both of us?"

Xia Mi fell silent, the lively mask of a high school girl was removed, and her eyes turned cold.

"You're not a half-blood, so why...?"

Chen Chen took off his sunglasses and placed them on the table; his pupils were still the normal color.

"If I wasn't prepared, I wouldn't have come today."

Xia Mi stared at him for a moment, her golden eyes lighting up. Now… the person sitting opposite her was…

Jormungandr, the Dragon King.

"Who are you!"

Chen Chen did not answer directly, but silently raised his right hand.

Blue and white scales slowly emerged from under the skin of the wrist, gradually covering the entire back of the hand.

Under the warm yellow light, the scales gleamed with a cold and heavy metallic luster, and the blood vessels beneath the skin bulged slightly beside the scales, vying for space with the dragon-transformed tissue.

After confirming that Xia Mi had indeed seen it, he withdrew his hand.

"What are your thoughts?"

Xia Mi frowned slightly, her golden eyes fixed on the spot where the scales had disappeared.

"These scales don't appear in any known family tree. Which monarch's bloodline are you from?"

Seemingly understanding the implication behind Chen Chen's actions, her tone softened.

"The design isn't very appealing either. The colors are too cool and don't suit your skin tone."

He was criticizing her verbally, but his gaze never left her.

"You're not mixed race." She pulled the cushion back behind her and tilted her head back, raising her chin slightly.

"You are not the Dragon King. If you were, I could sense it. But you are not human either."

"This is what I wanted to talk to you about today."

"continue."

"Are you loyal to the Black King? Or have you always been loyal to yourself and Fenrir?"

The moment the word Fenrir was uttered, Xia Mi's golden eyes narrowed slightly.

She was prepared for her identity to be exposed before she came in.

But knowing Fenrir... is not that simple.

There's no need to answer this question.

If Jormungandr were truly loyal to the Black King, she wouldn't have hidden in human society for so long with her mentally challenged brother, and she herself would have been bound by the prophecy that the Black King would eventually be resurrected.

"Answer my question first."

"I am not one of the Four Sovereigns. My dragon blood does not belong to Nidhogg."

"But you still have a pair..."

She pointed to the sunglasses Chen Chen had placed on the table.

"The golden eyes hidden behind those two pieces of black glass?"

"You can see for yourself."

Xia Mi did not hesitate.

Her hand reached across the table and gripped the bridge of the sunglasses frame with a swift and decisive motion, all the while she was taking off the sunglasses.

The pupils are still the normal color.

Dark brown, similar to her own eyes when she was in disguise.

The scarlet color gradually expands into a uniform red halo on the surface of the iris, and the pupil is elongated vertically in the center of the iris with sharp edges.

The two looked at each other across a coffee table.

Golden eyes meet red eyes.

The lights in the shop flickered, and the proprietress muttered that the voltage was unstable. She stood on a stool, took out a hammer, and tapped the circuit breaker twice. The cat quickly moved from Chen Chen's feet to a more distant corner.

Xia Mi withdrew her hand, and the brightness of her golden eyes increased slightly without her even realizing it, instinctively responding to the oppressive force emanating from the pair of scarlet pupils opposite her.

She narrowed her eyes.

"Scarlet-red."

She reached for another half-finished iced Americano on the table, intending to take a sip, but found the glass was empty, so she put it back.

Chen Chen suppressed the gleam of his scarlet vertical pupils back into his normal pupils and put his sunglasses back on his nose.

"My dragon blood doesn't originate from Nighold... I am the source."

Xia Mi remained silent for a moment.

Most of the ice in the iced Americano had melted, and her golden eyes darkened, turning into a layer of light golden luster floating on the surface of her irises.

"Then why are you still looking for me? You yourself said you're on the other side."

Chen Chen stared straight into Xia Mi's eyes, a hint of a smile appearing in his gaze.

"Yeah, so why do you think I'd contact you?"

Xia Mi did not avoid his gaze.

"You want me to go with you."

"Yes, you will be my Dragon King, how about it, Lao Xia?"

Xia Mi picked up the cup and gently shook the ice cubes.

"Your Dragon King. You say that quite smoothly."

"After thinking about it for a year, of course it went smoothly."

Xia Mi's golden eyes slowly narrowed.

She remained silent for a while.

"What about Fenrir?"

"Together. He doesn't need to do anything; you've protected him well enough. As for his mental health, I'll try to address that later."

Xia Mi smiled after hearing this, but it looked rather creepy.

"Wow, that's a huge pancake!"

"You can verify it now."

Chen Chen placed his right hand back on the table, palm facing up.

Facts speak louder than words.

Xia Mi stared at his outstretched palm, her tone turning cold again, and she didn't place her hand on it.

"First, you expose my identity, then you gradually lead me through your schemes. Chen Chen, you're very cunning. More so than most humans."

Chen Chen did not retract his hand, and slowly revealed a smug smile.

"You've never shown your golden eyes to me this past year; today is the first time."

Xia Mi crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes scrutinizing, yet filled with a soft, watery light.

The gleam of the golden eyes flickered in the dimly lit booth.

"So I'm thinking about something." Chen Chen put his hand back on the table, his fingertips resting on the rim of the cup.

"You and Fenrir have been hiding in the human world for so long, trusting no one. You won't trust the Secret Society, you won't trust the Black King, and you wouldn't even trust your own kind."

"You can't trust anyone, not even a little bit, not even enough to keep you sitting here for a few more minutes."

Xia Mi's eyelashes twitched.

"Trust me this once, Lao Xia."
