Chapter 162 Yuan's Arrest, "Love Until Death"
Aberration Type I lifted the abyss, ran at supersonic speed, creating a shockwave, and turned to disappear into the forest.
Shen Jue patted non-existent dust off his hands, turned to look at Tong Hui, and a helpless expression appeared on his face.
The forest behind Shen Jue was in a state of chaos.
Trees were snapped in half, the ground collapsed into deep pits, and black liquid was spilled everywhere.
The crew members slumped to the ground, some sobbing quietly, some vomiting violently, some staring blankly into the void, their mouths opening and closing but no sound coming out.
Only the camera was still mechanically running.
The camera had been knocked over at some point and was now leaning precariously on a pile of rubble, its lens pointed at Shen Jue.
The indicator light was still on, and it was bright red.
With a troubled heart, Tong Hui seemed to have come to know Shen Jue and also saw the battlefield where Shen Jue was.
Against the backdrop of gray-white clouds and twisted tree branches, Shen Jue stood with his hands behind his back, his spine straight, and his posture relaxed.
Around him were the fallen limbs of the man, splattered black liquid, uprooted trees, and sunken ground.
Just then, two more Aberration Type I creatures appeared at supersonic speed, picked up Yuan's limbs from the ground, and sped away from the scene.
Shen Jue wasn't covered in dust.
The face appeared paler and its features sharper in the overcast light.
Those eyes were calm and deep, like two ancient wells that would never be disturbed.
A breeze blew by, gently lifting a corner of Shen Jue's clothes to reveal the well-proportioned and muscular body beneath the fabric—a body structure so perfect it seemed unreal, surpassing the limits of human aesthetics.
Filming for the horror movie on location has wrapped.
It wasn't the director who yelled "cut," but rather that the film itself could no longer be made.
When the photographer was finally carried away from the camera, his hands were still shaking, his lips were trembling, and he kept repeating a sentence that sent chills down everyone's spine.
"It's him...it's him..." The photographer's voice was hoarse and shrill, as if his vocal cords were being squeezed by something, a broken voice squeezed from the deepest part of his chest, with a sobbing tone.
The stretcher bearers dared not look at him or Shen Jue, but simply kept their heads down and hurried away, disappearing at the end of the dirt road leading down the mountain.
Tong Hui took one last look at the marks on the ground, the claw marks left by the abyss and the remnants of black liquid, and then glanced at Shen Jue, who was standing in the center of the open space, talking to the director.
He stood casually, hands in his pockets, a perfectly polite yet aloof smile on his face.
Tong Hui couldn't hear what Shen Jue was saying, but she could see the director's expression changing constantly.
From fear to surprise, from surprise to confusion, from confusion to a blank, bewildered void.
The director retreated with a mixture of fear and admiration, not daring to disturb Shen Jue any further.
Shen Jue's pace remained unhurried, as if he were walking in an ordinary mountain forest without any monsters or curses.
"Let's go," Shen Jue said.
Kirie followed.
As she was leaving, she glanced back at the battlefield and suddenly realized that it was the right thing for Goro to stay in Black Vortex Town.
Leaving Black Vortex Town with Shen Jue is not a good choice.
Kirie realized something.
Shen Jue is getting bigger.
It is not an increase in size in a physical sense.
Rather, in Tong Hui's perception of this world, Shen Jue's share is expanding at an unstoppable pace.
From Black Vortex Town, to the human head balloon, to the strange fish, and now to the Abyss.
She seemed to be witnessing Shen Jue writing something on the surface of this planet through a series of purposeful actions and behaviors.
Tong Hui didn't know what Shen Jue's ultimate goal was. She just shivered and hugged her arm.
The wind blew through the valley, and the swirling spots of light continued to rotate among the leaves.
It's as if the world is using the only way it can to remind everyone who is still alive.
Shen Jue walked out of Black Vortex Town.
The car drove north along the mountain road, passing through several deserted villages, and finally onto a coastal winding mountain road.
Kirie sat in the passenger seat, looking at the back seat through the rearview mirror.
The disguised mutant type 1 had returned sometime earlier, now wearing a beige trench coat and a plaid scarf, sitting quietly in the back row.
Her face was expressionless, her eyes fixed straight ahead, like a carefully arranged doll.
During her three-day drive, Kirie witnessed more bizarre events than in the previous ten years combined.
But wherever Shen Jue went, his approach to handling the situation was so simple it was almost brutal.
Crushing, crushing, and more crushing. No matter what special curse or strange non-human creature it was, in Shen Jue's hands, it was just like a life-size adult doll that could be manipulated at will.
Until the three of them, who were on a road trip, arrived at a misty town called Kiri no Machi in the island of Japan.
The fog grew thicker as they arrived in the town of Fog.
Tong Hui remembers clearly that when they drove past the town boundary sign in the afternoon, the sky was still clear, and although the clouds were thick, at least some light could pass through.
Shen Jue parked his car in front of a convenience store that had already closed down at the entrance of town. After getting out of the car, he looked up at the sky and said something that terrified Tong Hui.
There's something inside the fog here.
Shen Jue said this in the exact same tone as when he said "you are very useful" before, as calm as if he were stating an objective fact. His voice was neither loud nor soft, and even had a slightly nonchalant tone at the end, as if he was just lamenting that the weather was not very good today.
But when Kirie heard those words, the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end.
It wasn't because she was afraid of the fog, but because she noticed that when Shen Jue said "there's something," the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.
That was the look on a hunter's face when he saw fresh footprints on a forest path.
They stayed at the only guesthouse still operating in town.
The owner was an elderly woman in her sixties, with a hunched back and deep bags under her eyes.
As she registered the names of Shen Jue and the other two, she said in a hoarse voice, "You out-of-towners shouldn't go out at night."
"Don't go near intersections."
"Recently, someone saw the black one again, standing in the fog, waiting motionless."
After saying that, the old woman didn't say anything more. She simply pushed the key onto the counter, turned around, and went into the back room, closing the door very quietly.
Kirie heard the sound that very night.
It didn't come from outside the window.
It seeped in slowly from the depths of her consciousness, from a place she herself had never been.
The feeling was hard to describe. It wasn't like tinnitus, nor was it like a hallucination. It was more like a thought that didn't belong to me had been implanted in my brain.
It was a voice, very low, very soft, even pleasant to the ear. It was the voice of a handsome young man, with the unique clarity and gentleness of youth, as if he were talking to a stranger he had just met on the street.
But what the voice said sent a chill down Tong Hui's spine: "Do you like Shen Jue? Do you think he... really cares about you?"
Kirie suddenly opened her eyes, but there was nothing in the room.
"What is that?" Kirie unleashed a powerful mental storm.
Although Lord Shen Jue is so handsome that it's frightening, Tong Hui doesn't even know if Shen Jue is human or an alien.
In addition, given Shen Jue's extremely perverse hobby of only being interested in curses and non-human creatures, Tong Hui felt no romantic love for Shen Jue.
Tong Hui's feelings for Lord Shen Jue are a mixture of fear, admiration, and humanity's most sincere hope and reliance.
She, Tong Hui, never had the urge to pin Lord Shen Jue down!
