Chapter 365 A Difficult Battle, Broadcast Live on Television
It's another morning.
Jessica bent over and carefully escaped from Shen Jue's arms.
As she tried to straighten her back, a sharp pain in her lower back made Jessica hiss.
"Oh! Damn it!" Jessica muttered under her breath.
Jessica gasped at the thought of last night's madness.
"I'm a superhuman who can ignore bullets!"
"You're a monster!" Jessica whispered.
Last night, after Zi Ren underwent inhuman modifications by Shen Jue.
Jessica accepted Shen Jue's invitation to spar.
The two fought their battle from the bedroom to the bathroom, and then from the bathroom to the kitchen.
Finally, Jessica even took Shen Jue into the sky and started a series of sparring matches under the moonlight.
In this long and arduous battle, the superhuman Jessica was defeated and could no longer rise, so she could only fall into a deep sleep.
Shen Jue achieved a complete victory.
Jessica carefully jumped off the bed, grabbed her clothes, and without even putting on her shoes, scrambled out of Shen Jue's luxurious apartment, enduring the soreness.
She didn't know how to face Shen Jue, so running away became the only option.
After Jessica left the apartment, Shen Jue got up and stretched.
To be honest, he didn't have much fun yesterday.
Although Jessica's physique was strong enough to withstand small to medium-sized firearms, it was still too frail for him.
"Tsk."
"There are still too few worthy opponents in the Marvel Universe."
Shen Jue said to himself.
The next moment, he was already dressed in his priest's robes, looking refreshed, and with a flash, Shen Jue disappeared from the apartment.
When Shen Jue appeared, the lights in the entire hall seemed to dim for a moment.
Inside a luxurious manor, the white-robed cult members knelt down in unison, their movements as if guided by a single thread.
Kingpin knelt at the front, Bullseye knelt half a step behind him, and the others bowed down one after another like a wave.
Frank knelt between them, his knuckles white from gripping his fists, the veins on his neck throbbing, but he never looked up.
"Father!"
All the voices overlapped, like an echo rising from the bottom of a deep well.
"We yearn for your salvation!"
Shen Jue stood at the doorway, his gaze slowly sweeping over their heads.
Kingpin then raised his head, his voice deep and steady, and reported that he had bought the popular New York television station and that everything was ready.
After listening, Shen Jue smiled slightly but didn't say anything more.
He stepped forward, and the white-robed followers automatically parted to make way for him.
Many cars were already parked outside the estate.
Shen Jue led everyone into the car, the soft leather seat behind him slightly sagged.
Kingpin closed the car door himself and then got into the passenger seat.
Everyone else got into their cars, and the convoy slowly started moving.
Frank sat in the third car, the street scene outside the window rushing past.
He closed his eyes briefly, suppressing the murderous intent surging within him back into the deepest recesses of his chest.
He missed such a great opportunity to wipe out half of New York's mob bosses.
Frank was unwilling to accept this, but he didn't want to betray Shen Jue like that.
He convinced himself that knowing Shen Jue's full plan required necessary patience.
The convoy drove through the streets of New York, heading towards the television station.
The convoy stopped in front of the television station building.
When Shen Jue got out of the car, the TV station staff who had been waiting all took a step back in unison.
The female host stood at the entrance, her fingers twisting the microphone, her lips trembling slightly, but her eyes flashing with an almost fanatical light.
Of course she knew Shen Jue.
In previous live broadcasts, Shen Jue always wore a priest's robe, stood in front of the camera, and spoke words of blessing in a gentle tone. Occasionally, he would scold the disease, which would draw countless cheers.
But this time is different.
Shen Jue didn't stop to exchange pleasantries with anyone; she walked straight through the lobby and into the studio.
The white-robed followers filed in and stood on either side, like two rows of silent white statues.
The stands were packed with people.
In the front row were several veterans in wheelchairs. Some were missing a leg, some had half their face sunken in burn scars, and others had their hands trembling on their knees.
In the middle are terminally ill patients from all over the world; some are wrapped in thick blankets, and some have transparent oxygen tubes inserted under their noses.
There were several children in the back row. The youngest was being held in his mother's arms. His face was as pale as paper, but his eyes were unusually bright.
The female host jogged over to Shen Jue's side, took a deep breath, and turned to the camera.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today will be a historic moment."
Her voice trembled, but she spoke each word clearly.
"Father Shen Jue will show us one of his fundamental abilities as the father of all beings."
Shen Jue stood in the center of the stage, with a huge live broadcast screen behind her.
He didn't look at the camera, but slowly raised one hand.
The entire studio was so quiet that you could hear the patients' rapid, expectant breathing.
Shen Jue spoke slowly, her voice not loud, but clearly carried throughout the entire studio.
"Illness should not be the norm in human life."
He only said this one sentence, and some patients in the audience covered their faces and sobbed.
"From this day forward, all who believe in me will be free from illness."
Shen Jue lowered the hand she had raised and pointed to the audience seats.
"Let those who need redemption the most come up."
A slight commotion arose in the crowd.
A skinny little boy was carried up by his father.
The child could barely support his head; his cheeks were deeply sunken, and a hospital wristband was wrapped around his thin wrist.
The father walked very slowly, as if afraid that he might break the child if he exerted too much force.
He walked up to Shen Jue, his knees buckled, and he knelt down with a thud.
"Father Shen Jue... I beg you..."
The man's voice was hoarse, as if he hadn't had a good night's sleep in a long time.
Whispers arose from the audience, and a reporter instinctively raised his camera, then hesitated and put it down.
The live broadcast faithfully transmitted this scene to every lit screen throughout New York City.
There was no response from the audience to Shen Jue or the TV station's representative.
These patients were specifically recruited by Kingpin from hospitals, shelters, and veterans' centers.
Shen Jue looked down at the child.
The child's eyes were open, the pupils reflecting the pale lights of the studio, like two embers about to go out.
"What's your name?" Shen Jue asked.
The child opened his mouth and made a very soft breath.
Tim.
Shen Jue nodded.
"Tim, look me in the eyes."
