Chapter 367 Nick's Decision and Reactions

There was a moment of silence on the communicator, followed by a crisp female voice.

"Sir."

"Put everything down and go back to headquarters."

"I'm on vacation."

"Cancel the vacation."

Fury's voice left no room for negotiation.

"Now, go back to headquarters immediately. There's someone I need you to investigate."

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the communicator.

"Who are you investigating?"

"Turn on the TV."

Fury's voice was deep and muffled.

You'll see.

"The target's name is Shen Jue. I need his birth record, activity history, the people he has been in contact with, everything I can find out."

Natasha did not answer immediately.

Fury could hear the sound of the television being turned on from her side.

Then came a long silence.

"I saw it." Natasha's voice finally rang out, unusually serious.

"Natasha."

Fry paused, as if choosing his words.

"I want you to go in person, change all obvious identities, approach them as an ordinary person, don't lay a hand on them, and don't expose yourself."

"If any mind control abilities are discovered, evacuate immediately."

"You suspect he controls those people?"

"I have no doubt."

Fury looked at the white-robed cult members on the screen.

"I'm sure, otherwise Kingpin and Bullseye wouldn't be standing behind him like two neutered dogs."

"Also, I saw Frank."

"clear."

Natasha said.

"I will deliver the preliminary report to you within 24 hours."

Parker's house in Queens.

Peter and Aunt May were sitting on the sofa when the TV news cut to footage of Shen Jue's rally, with Kingpin and Bullseye standing behind them.

Peter dropped the potato chips in his hand and froze.

Aunt Mei frowned: "This child named Shen Jue, is he a mutant?"

Peter couldn't sit still any longer. He immediately stood up and thought to himself, "I have to investigate this Father Shen Jue. His identity might not be as simple as it seems."

Aunt May then reached out and pressed down on his arm: "Peter, what's the rush?"

"This Father Shen Jue can actually cure disabilities and terminal illnesses in an instant."

You need to take a good look.

Peter stared at Shen Jue's calm eyes on the screen, a chill running down his spine.

His spider senses didn't register, but the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.

"Aunt Mei, this matter is not so simple."

Peter stood up, walked to the window, and his fingertips were almost touching the spider silk projectiles on his wrist.

"If even Kingpin and Bullseye are standing behind Father Shen Jue, then the situation is worse than we thought."

Spider-Man, Peter Parker, is one of the most famous superheroes in the Marvel Universe. After being bitten by a radioactive spider, he gained spider-sense, superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to climb walls, and he also created his own web-shooting device.

He learned the lesson that with great power comes great responsibility after his uncle was killed by robbers, and as a high school student, he became a vigilante on the streets of New York.

Peter joined the Avengers and fought against villains such as Vulture and Mysterio, and also clashed with Kingpin and Bullseye multiple times.

Therefore, when Peter saw Shen Jue on television, recalling his encounter with her a few nights earlier and the mysterious gunshot, he had a bad feeling.

Xavier's Academy, inside the main computer room.

Charles Xavier sat alone in his wheelchair, the screen in front of him playing a loop of images of Shen Jue standing on the high platform.

He shut down the main brain amplification system and used only the most primitive mental tendrils to reach out to the figure on the screen.

The moment he made contact, an unreal warmth enveloped his consciousness, like returning to the womb, like being embraced by the kindness of the whole world at once.

He abruptly severed the connection, gripped the wheelchair armrests with both hands, his knuckles turning white, and his forehead covered in cold sweat.

The young man on the screen seemed to be looking at him through the broadcast signal.

"What a terrifying will, but you are definitely not a mutant."

"Father Shen Jue, who exactly are you?"

Professor X muttered to himself as he tried again to probe the boundaries of Shen Jue's consciousness. This time, he only made a brief attempt before a melody of no apparent origin echoed in his mind.

The melody was not aggressive at all, yet it began to cloud his mind. He bit his tongue to force himself to quit.

He slumped in his wheelchair, panting heavily, his blue eyes staring at the screen, filled with confusion and a rare fear.

"If he had been facing a piano just now, or one of those children whose minds are not yet mature..."

He dared not think about it anymore.

Professor X reached out and pressed the communicator, dialing Beast Hank.

"Hank, I need you to strengthen the academy's mental defenses, right now."

Professor X, Charles Xavier, possesses the most powerful telepathic abilities on Earth, enabling him to read, control, and modify the minds of others, and to conduct wide-area mental connections and attacks.

He awakened his mutant abilities at a young age, founded Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, took in and taught mutants how to control their abilities, and dedicated his life to the peaceful coexistence of humans and mutants.

But now, this most powerful mutant, a strong man in both mind and will, is terrified of Shen Jue's spirit.

Shen Jue, who was still broadcasting live from the TV station, glanced up at the direction where Charles was with a smile, and then ignored him.

Kenosha Island, a mutant-populated area.

Magneto, Erik Lansher, sat on a high platform with a dozen metal fragments floating in front of him.

The news feed below, which had just switched to New York, showed the white-robed cult members in complete silence, with Shen Jue standing in the very center.

Eric stared at the screen, flicked his finger, and a piece of metal flew around him three times in an instant.

"Playing tricks."

He stood up, his cloak clinging tightly to his body.

But when he saw Kingpin and Bullseye standing behind Shen Jue like servants, the contempt on his face disappeared.

He had seen Bullseye, a money-grubbing madman with no loyalty whatsoever, and Kingpin was even less likely to bow down to any mutant.

"The ability to keep both of them under control isn't about money or threats."

Eric's eyes were as cold as iron.

"Interesting, yet another mutant compatriot with mind control abilities?"

Eric thought of Charles, and of his old friend who always wanted to negotiate with humans, and his mood darkened further.

"If you meet this boy, Charles, you'll find he's more suited to my side."

Eric turned and walked down the platform, each step echoing dully on the metal floor.

Shen Jue's influence will spread widely throughout the world, and he will try to recruit Shen Jue into his camp.

Magneto, Erik Lansher, can manipulate magnetic fields and all metals, including lifting bridges, twisting bullets, creating electromagnetic pulses, and flying.

He lost his parents in a Nazi concentration camp and developed his powers. He firmly believed that mutants were superior to humans. He founded the Brotherhood of Mutants and had opposing yet respectful ideologies to Professor X.

This mutant version of the Nazi believes that mutants are superior to humans and is always trying to use extreme means to improve the status of mutants in human society.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe version, Eric's ability to control magnetic fields is only average.

However, in the main Marvel Comics universe, Magneto's "magnetic control" is just a layman's term; his true ability is to manipulate electromagnetism, one of the four fundamental forces of the universe.
