The entertainment empire began with Liu Yifei's premarital pregnancy.

"Night at the Museum" has finished filming, and only "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "Insidious 2" are currently in production.

According to Carter's report, the film "Fifty Shades of Grey" is now in the final stages of filming and is expected to be completed in three more days, with a release date around the end of December.

After Fifty Shades of Grey was finished, Extraordinary Pictures only had one movie left: Insidious 2.

In addition, filming for Final Destination 2 is scheduled to begin next month, January 07, and filming for Taken 1 is scheduled to begin next February.

Lin Bufan had already planned out the next phase of film production for Extraordinary Pictures.

The five films that Extraordinary Pictures will be producing in the next phase are "Home Alone," "I Am Legend," "World War Z," "The Conjuring," and "Twilight."

The movie "Home Alone" is a series of movies. The production cost of the first movie was less than 20 million US dollars, but it eventually grossed more than 400 million US dollars at the box office, with a final box office profit of about 200 million US dollars.

The original version of "I Am Legend" had a relatively high production cost, and overall, it only earned about 20 to 30 million US dollars at the box office.

The same applies to the movie "World War Z". It is a large-scale movie, and although the box office was not low, the production cost was also very high.

The Conjuring and Twilight are both money-making machines.

The five films mentioned above, plus the upcoming Final Destination 2 and Taken 2, are expected to gross over $8 million at the box office.

With this money, the shares of AMC Theatres that were pledged to Morgan can be redeemed.

Lin Bufan talked with Carter for several hours and arranged these projects.

As for the rest, he didn't need to worry about it.

He is well aware that his core audience is in mainland China, not Hollywood, and that in a few years, with the rise of various political forces, Hollywood's global influence will gradually decline.

……

For the next period of time, besides handling some company matters, Lin Bufan personally went to the filming location to inspect the production.

"President Lin!"

Wang Mingliang followed Lin Bufan, walking along the retro streets of Shanghai, explaining things to him.

How big is this filming location?

Lin Bufan took a stroll around and nodded in satisfaction.

"There are two streets in total, one in front and one in back..."

Wang Mingliang reported the details to Lin Bufan.

The filming location only has two streets, since some scenes don't require that many. Two streets are enough. They are all retro-style buildings from Shanghai during the Republic of China era. All of them together cover an area of about 2.5 square meters.

Lin Bufan acquired 1.2 square kilometers, equivalent to 120 million square meters, and spent nearly 4 million US dollars to acquire this land.

Fortunately, this is outside the Sixth Ring Road in the suburbs of Beijing; otherwise, the land price would have at least doubled.

Lin Bufan already had a plan in mind regarding this piece of land.

In the future, he will build a filming base here for every movie he makes. In the future, he can completely follow the example of Universal Studios and build a Kyoto Studios.

Compared to the box office revenue of each film, Lin Bufan felt that this Kyoto Cinema project would definitely bring him surprises in the future.

In later years, Universal Studios would have attracted nearly ten million visitors annually and generated billions in revenue, far exceeding the income of many entertainment companies.

Compared to Universal Studios in later years, Kyoto Studios in the future has a major advantage because every attraction here has been actually filmed.

[Ding! Congratulations, host! Daily check-in successful. You have received the following rewards: one bottle of Liuwei Emperor Pills (10 pills) + one bottle of Beauty and Nourishing Pills (10 pills) + 100 million US dollars.]

[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have successfully checked in for the festival and received a reward: a Snow Festival gift pack]

[Host, would you like to open the holiday gift pack?]

"Open!"

Lin Bufan did not hesitate at all.

[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have opened the Great Snow Festival Gift Pack and received the following rewards: a script for the movie "Despicable Me", 10% of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and an Audi A4.]

As the system notification faded, the reward landed in front of Lin Bufan.

Lin Bufan first picked up the car keys, not even bothering to look at them, and threw them directly into the dimensional space. This car was undoubtedly a grocery-getter.

Lin Bufan was very familiar with the movie "Despicable Me". It was another animated film series. The production cost was only over 60 million US dollars, but it eventually grossed more than 500 million US dollars at the box office.

After deducting costs, the profit will be at least US$1.7 million, a return of more than 2 times.

That was secondary; what shocked Lin Bufan the most was the 10% stake in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was the top hospital in California. 24 years later, its total assets alone exceeded $120 billion and its annual revenue reached $70 billion.

Of course, the total assets are only six or seven billion US dollars now, and the annual income is only two or three billion US dollars.

However, this 10% stake alone is currently worth more than $10 billion.

Those in the American healthcare industry know that Lin Bufan would never sell it; it's a golden goose.

……

"Kobayashi, let me toast you!"

In the same private room as the Cheng family banquet, Chen Kaige raised his glass and looked at Lin Bufan with gratitude.

"Old Chen, drink slowly!"

Lin Bufan looked at Chen Kaige helplessly.

Chen Hong, who was standing to the side, didn't say anything to persuade him. Thinking of this, Lin Bufan turned his head and glanced at Chen Hong. As a result, the latter's eyes were full of expectation, as if she was hoping that Chen Kaige would drink too much.

"Alright, this meal today is just to welcome you back. We can have another drink another time!"

Seeing that Chen Kaige was about to drink more, Lin Bufan quickly stepped in to stop him.

As he spoke, he gave Chen Hong a subtle glare.

He knew that Chen Hong was probably really bored lately, but it wasn't safe here. If something happened and got discovered, how could he face anyone?

The first two times were accidents, but this must never happen again.

With Lin Bufan stopping him, Chen Hong, who was standing to the side, could only begin to disapprovingly advise Chen Kaige to drink less.

A few hours later, Lin Bufan watched Chen Hong and Chen Kaige leave.

……

Before they knew it, it was December 15th. All the actors in the "Lust, Caution" crew were still in intensive training. Lin Bufan would check on their training progress every day.

"Director Lin!"

Upon seeing Lin Bufan approach, Liang Jiahui, Pan Yueming, Wang Zhiwen, Sun Yiyi, Dong Jie, Chen Shu, and Xue Kaiqi all came over.
