The entertainment empire began with Liu Yifei's premarital pregnancy.

The room fell silent for a moment.

Can I?

Scarlett couldn't help but question herself internally.

As it turns out, she couldn't be like Jessica, willing to give up her entire career for a man.

In the past, she had never been able to understand why Lin Bufan was unwilling to accept her.

What she meant by accepting herself was not the current relationship.

Because of Lin Bufan, she learned a lot about Chinese culture, things she didn't understand before, but now she does.

"Alright, stop thinking about those things. Living in the moment is the most important thing..." Lin Bufan said, patting Scarlett's bottom.

There are still almost two hours left, I can't just lie here like this, that would be too boring.

He did not discuss with the other party the so-called definitions of conservatism in Chinese and Western cultures.

In reality, those who truly understand the West know very well that people in the upper echelons of Western society are quite conservative, while only in the lower classes are they particularly open-minded.

Of course, conservatism is relative; it mainly depends on the strength and confidence of both the man and woman.

Extramarital affairs are also common in Western upper-class society. They usually happen because the man can't control the woman.

"No, this time it really won't work..."

More than an hour later, Scarlett begged for mercy again.

Seeing Scarlett already beyond endurance, Lin Bufan took pity on her and spared her: "By the way, how did you end up in Berlin?"

"You didn't come all this way just to wait for me, did you?"

"You really don't pay any attention to me at all..." Scarlett looked at Lin Bufan, somewhat speechless.

She came to Berlin because of the film she starred in, "The Other Boleyn Girl," which was screened out of competition at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Of course, it wouldn't be wrong to say that she waited specifically for Lin Bufan.

The film screenings had already ended yesterday, and she could have left then, but she stayed an extra day to see Lin Bufan.

"It's time, I'm leaving now!"

Lin Bufan glanced at the time; it was already 17:23 PM. At Potsdamer Platz, the fans and media on the red carpet were almost all in place.

Although his appearance in "Black Coal, Thin Ice" was later in the film, he couldn't arrive too late.

"Come see me tonight, okay?" Scarlett forced herself to stay awake, grabbed Lin Bufan's hand, and looked at him hopefully.

"All right!"

Seeing Scarlett's pleading look, Lin Bufan sighed inwardly and agreed.

"I'm still too soft-hearted..."

As he stepped out of the room and closed the door, Lin Bufan shook his head slightly.

However, since they were friends who had communicated deeply, I couldn't bear to be too cruel in rejecting them.

……

"Director Lin!"

When Lin Bufan arrived at the hotel lobby, Liang Jiahui and Gui Lunmei had already been waiting for him for a long time.

Let's go!

Lin Bufan nodded slightly to the two of them, then walked out of the hotel and got into the car that the organizing committee had prepared in advance.

Before we knew it, it was six o'clock in the afternoon. On the red carpet of the closing ceremony, jury president Costa Gavras and his seven-member jury were the first to appear.

The sound of cameras snapping photos echoed incessantly along both sides of the red carpet.

As per the procedure, after the jury walked the red carpet, the creative teams of each shortlisted film took the stage.

Following closely behind is the creative team behind "Carefree," including director Mike Lee and lead actors Eddie Marsan and Sally Hawkins.

The three walked onto the red carpet and waved to the reporters on both sides.

Besides the main creative team, some non-competitive celebrities also attended the awards ceremony. For example, Fan Bingbing, who was later known as the Queen of the Red Carpet.

Even if none of her films are nominated, she will still go to the event to walk the red carpet.

"Director Lin, I wonder when it will be our turn..."

Inside the car, Gui Lunmei seemed to be looking for a topic to talk about, deliberately trying to chat with Lin Bufan.

"We'll have to wait a while!"

The team that just walked past was the creative team of "There Will Be Blood". Now walking the red carpet is the creative team of the documentary "Standard Procedure". Actually, there is only one person, the director Errol Morris.

Since it is a documentary, there are naturally no male or female leads.

Before we knew it, it was seven o'clock, and the creative team behind "The Song of the Sparrow" walked onto the red carpet.

"Director Lin, the next group is the crew of 'Left Right'!"

As fellow Chinese and from a mainland Chinese production crew, Lin Bufan naturally paid attention to them as well.

The creative team behind "Left Right" includes director Wang Xiaoshuai, lead actors Cheng Taishen and Liu Weiwei, and even the second male and female leads Zhang Jiayi and She Nan.

Lin Bufan wasn't very familiar with the male lead, Cheng Taishen, and he only remembered the female lead, Liu Weiwei, who later played the female lead in "My Chief and My Regiment".

On the contrary, Zhang Jiayi and She Nan left the deepest impression on Lin Bufan.

Zhang Jiayi needs no introduction; he played the role of Lao Wang in Lin Bufan's first domestic commercial film, "Love is Not Blind".

At that time, Lin Bufan was unknown, while the other party was already a famous actor.

The two never collaborated again after that.

As for She Nan, although Lin Bufan had never worked with her, he was still quite familiar with her in later generations. He got to know her from the movie "No Man's Land".

What truly made She Nan a national sensation and made her memorable was the movie "Wolf Warrior".

"By the way, Director Lin!"

Suddenly remembering something, Gui Lunmei looked at Lin Bufan and said, "This afternoon, Director Wang Xiaoshuai brought the main cast and crew of 'Left Right' to see you, but you weren't here..."

"Okay, I got it!"

Lin Bufan nodded slightly.

He wasn't there, naturally because he was in Scarlett's room.

"Director Lin, it's our turn!"

Ten minutes later, someone from the organizing committee came to inform us.

The car drove directly to the outside of the red carpet. After opening the car door, Lin Bufan got out of the car, and Gui Lunmei, who was standing next to him, walked a few steps quickly to his side, took his arm and walked onto the red carpet.

Of the three main creators of "Black Coal, Thin Ice," only Gwei Lun-mei was a woman, so she certainly knew who she wanted to be with.

The flashes of cameras on both sides kept going off.

Lin Bufan frowned slightly, clearly not fond of the flash photography.

This is why he doesn't pursue a career as a director and actor; he genuinely dislikes being a celebrity and being chased and photographed by the media every day.

Even the longest red carpet eventually comes to an end.

Just as Lin Bufan and his entourage reached the latter half of the red carpet, they heard a series of rapid camera shutter clicks behind them.

The people behind are the creative team behind "Elite Force".

Lin Bufan glanced back. Others might not know, but he knew very well that the Golden Bear for Best Film this year had been won by "Elite Force".

It can be said that among the 26 shortlisted films, Lin Bufan's biggest rival is "Elite Force".

After the three entered the venue, they sat in the third row as arranged by the organizing committee.

As the time slowly approached 19:45 PM, the jury took their seats, marking the official start of the 58th Berlin International Film Festival awards ceremony.
