Ke Miantang remembered her; she was the girl who had just teamed up with Ke Ji.

She glanced down at the thermos, her fingers hesitatingly squeezing the lid.

"This cup was won by you two together." After saying that, he handed the cup to Yan Shiyu.

Yan Shiyu waved her hand: "We teamed up so that you could win, so you can keep it."

"That's great, thank you." Ke Miantang immediately beamed, holding up her thermos to Rong She's face: "Isn't it cute?"

Rong She nodded in agreement: "So cute."

Yan Shiyu stood to the side watching this scene and nudged Ke Ji with her elbow: "Hey, your sister is so cute."

Ke Ji rolled her eyes: "Do you need to tell me?"

Yan Shiyu ignored him and continued to stare at Ke Miantang.

Bao Min ran over from the rest area, panting, "How are you?"

After speaking, he looked up, saw Zhang Xin's expression, and then looked at the thermos in Ke Miantang's hand on the podium. He understood everything.

"It's just a cup," she said, taking Zhang Xin's arm. "I'll give you a better one, a limited edition, a hundred times cuter than this one."

Zhang Xin forced a smile: "Thank you, Minmin."

"We're like family," Bao Min said, patting the back of her hand.

Zhang Xin put away her ski poles, lowered her head, and covered her eyes with her ski goggles.

She was grateful to have a true friend, Bao Min, who always saw her when no one else could.

Another half month has passed, and the end of December is slipping away from the calendar day by day. The coldest week since the beginning of winter has begun in Lingzhou City.

The final exams had just ended, and students were packing up to go home.

Ke Miantang hasn't left yet because Hehe has been acting strangely lately.

This rabbit usually eats, sleeps, and poops a lot. It's round and plump like a snowball. Every morning, while Ke Miantang is still sleeping, it jumps around in its cage, making a loud banging noise as it pushes against the food bowl.

But these past few days it hasn't been moving much, lying in the corner of the cage. When I feed it its favorite dried vegetables, it sniffs them and turns its face away.

With its belly bulging, Ke Miantang squatted in front of the cage and gently touched Hehe's back with her fingers.

The usual soft, fluffy feel is gone, and it no longer nestles in her palm like it used to.

She took a picture and sent it to Rong She: "Hehe, my belly is bulging, but I'm not eating anything."

The message had barely been sent when the phone rang.

The background noise was a bit chaotic; several people were talking in English, interspersed with some technical terms she couldn't understand.

"Is your belly bulging? Is it hard?" His voice came through clearly.

"It's hard." Ke Miantang's voice sounded a little flustered. "I don't know what I ate."

"I'm coming right away." He hung up the phone after saying that.

In the lab, Rong She put his phone in his pocket, picked up his coat draped over the back of his chair, and nodded to Fang Xu.

Fang Xu stared at the data flashing on the screen and raised his hand to give an "OK" sign.

The progress in the last two days has been faster than expected. The first encryption lock has been cracked, and the second one is coming soon.

The car stopped in front of the dormitory building in less than twenty minutes. Ke Miantang, wrapped in a down jacket, climbed into the passenger seat, holding Hehe in her arms. Hehe was wrapped in a blanket, with only her fluffy head showing.

Rong She reached out and touched Hehe's belly; it was indeed swollen and had hard lumps.

With a slight frown, he gently pressed his fingers on the rabbit's abdomen, causing the rabbit to kick its leg uncomfortably.

Rong She withdrew his hand and started the car: "How come you've gained so much weight recently?"

Ke Miantang thought about it and realized that she had indeed gained a lot of weight. Hehe, when she first came, she was so small that she could squat in the palm of her hand, but now she had to hold her with both hands.

Half an hour later, in the consultation room of the exotic pet hospital.

The doctor touched Hehe's belly, frowned slightly, put on a stethoscope and listened for a moment, then asked the nurse to take Hehe to get an X-ray.

The door to the X-ray room was open, and Ke Miantang stood at the doorway, seeing Hehe tied up on the equipment table.

Four slender legs were fixed in place, with the belly facing upwards, round and exposed to the camera.

Its eyes were wide open, its ears drooped to the sides, its nostrils flared, and its breathing was somewhat rapid, making it look pitiful.

She was usually so lively and energetic, but now she looked so listless; it broke her heart.

Ke Miantang gripped Rong She's coat with both hands, buried her face in his chest, and said in a soft, hoarse voice, "Will everything be alright?"

Rong She placed his palm on the back of her head and gently pressed it. His voice was deep and steady: "No, she just ate something wrong. It'll be fine once it's found out."

She nestled in his arms for a while, her fingers gripping his shirt tightly.

Rong She lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on her bare ring finger, where the ring he had given her was gone.

He remembered that she would wear it normally, and would take it off and put it in her jewelry box when she went out during the day.

Then he recalled that she hadn't worn it for the past two days, and her hands were empty when they met yesterday.

"Where's the ring?" He frowned.

Ke Miantang lifted her head from his embrace, her eyes still glistening with tears. She was stunned for a moment before she realized, "I forgot to bring it."

Rong She didn't ask any more questions. He casually stroked the back of her hand with his thumb, then held her hand even tighter.

The test results came back quickly.

When the doctor held the X-ray film up to the light, his expression showed slight hesitation.

On the X-ray, there was a clearly shaped, high-density foreign object inside Hehe's stomach.

It looks like a ring, with a band, a main diamond, and an outline set with smaller diamonds.

"Doctor, what is this?" Ke Miantang leaned closer to take a look.

The doctor paused for a moment, then said, "Judging by the shape, it looks a bit like a diamond ring."

Ke Miantang and Rong She: "...?"

The doctor looked puzzled and muttered under his breath, "How did this rabbit manage to swallow such a large diamond ring?" before proceeding to arrange the surgery.

Soon, the operating room door closed, and the red light at the end of the corridor came on.

Ke Miantang sat on a bench outside the operating room.

Rong She sat down next to her and took out a book from his coat pocket. The English title, embossed in gold, was printed on the dark blue cover. She leaned over to take a look—Quantum Physics and the Essence of Reality.

can't read.

"Have you been busy with this lately?" She pointed curiously to the thick book, which had handwritten annotations and mathematical symbols on every page.

Rong She turned to the page with the folded corner: "I suppose so."
