"That makes a lot of sense..."

Empress Zhangsun was speechless, truly unsure how to respond.

Li Chengqian was still young and did not understand the weight of this piece of paper. She only felt that the contents made a lot of sense and that it might be beneficial to spread it. But did she not understand that?

This document, consisting of three words per line, begins with a discussion of human nature and education, with every word and sentence aligned with Confucian thought.

The second section discusses the ethics of filial piety and brotherly love, which is also the filial piety that the Tang Dynasty highly promoted.

Each subsequent paragraph is closely connected, with three words per line, making it easy to read aloud. More importantly, Chen Huai'an uses the simplest language to tell stories ranging from moral education to filial piety and brotherly love, and then to the concepts of heaven, earth, ruler, parents, teachers, east, west, south, north, sun, moon, rivers, mountains, and rivers.

This is simply the best enlightenment material!

Think about what era we live in now?

The path of the imperial examination system has been forcibly broken through, the interpretation of the classics is about to be unified, and the imperial examination will soon usher in a great explosion.

At this critical moment, Chen Huai'an once again brought out such enlightenment materials to help the people better understand the principles of things and distinguish right from wrong.

This means that Chen Huai'an has once again lowered the threshold for ordinary people to read books, and the significance of this cannot be explained in just a few words.

Empress Zhangsun took a deep breath and said earnestly to Li Chengqian, "Besides this, did Mr. Chen teach you anything else? I mean, something similar to this."

"Yes!" Li Chengqian nodded immediately, and then took out a stack of papers. "Mother, look, this is the 'Standards for Being a Good Student and Child,' and there are also 'Miscellaneous Characters for Agriculture and Sericulture' and 'Miscellaneous Characters for Daily Use.'"

"And 'Introduction to Mathematics', one by one equals one, one by two equals two... to find the area in a square field, multiply the length and width together."

"This is the 'Essentials of Laws and Regulations.' The teacher has simplified the laws and regulations. For example, this sentence: 'Fighting and injuring someone shall be punished with caning according to the severity of the offense. Theft of property shall be punished according to the amount of stolen goods. Marriage and land shall be clearly defined in contracts.'"

Li Chengqian kept taking out things, then pointing to the contents on them, explaining to Empress Zhangsun what they were little by little.

Empress Zhangsun went from being shocked at first to gradually becoming numb.

If the Three Character Classic was already sufficient for enlightenment, then what Li Chengqian is now presenting covers almost every aspect. If all of these were compiled into a book with annotations and explanations, then families in the Tang Dynasty with even a little means could directly read these books.

It's catchy and easy to remember, and you can learn the principles along the way.

If that's the case...the children of the Tang Dynasty will have laid an incredibly solid foundation from the very beginning, and they will be influenced by these factors in everything from establishing moral principles to shaping their values.

With the initial threshold for admission drastically lowered, will there still be any fear of a lack of talent in the future?

Empress Zhangsun couldn't help but swallow as she thought about these things.

Li Chengqian, unaware of this, continued to take out things: "The teacher taught me a lot, and I've written it all down. This is 'Dragon Pattern Whip Shadow,' and the contents are quite interesting. For example, this sentence: 'Roughly understand four characters, to teach you children. In your spare time from studying the classics, you must also study the histories and philosophical works.'"

"The gentleman also summarized historical allusions in four very simple words, such as: Yao's eyebrows were eight-colored, Shun's eyes had double pupils, and Han Xin commanded troops, the more the better."

"The teacher specifically instructed me to write a book called 'Youxue Qionglin' (Elementary Learning Jade Forest)."

Li Chengqian said excitedly, "The contents inside are even more extensive; it wouldn't be an exaggeration to describe them as all-encompassing."

"Astronomy, geography, seasonal changes, the imperial court, civil officials, military officials, grandparents and grandchildren, fathers and sons, brothers, husbands and wives, teachers and friends..."

"Everything you can think of is here!"

"I think that even if you only know the 'Elementary Learning Classics', it's enough for an ordinary person to get by in the world."

Empress Zhangsun exclaimed in astonishment, "Child, do you know what all this means?"

"What does that mean?" Li Chengqian asked, somewhat puzzled. "Isn't it just about understanding principles better and educating children?"

Empress Zhangsun smiled and said, "My child, you must understand that if these things are brought out by someone, even if he is just an ordinary student, your father, including myself, your teacher, your uncle, Fang Du and the others, will all show him some respect."

"Because these things are enough to be passed down through the ages, becoming the best enlightenment in the world, benefiting the present and future generations, and no one can ignore them."

"Especially in our Great Tang Dynasty!"

Empress Zhangsun sighed softly, "But what if the person who produced these things was someone who single-handedly carved out a path for the poor and needy from the imperial examination system, which was monopolized by powerful families; someone who forcefully promoted the unification of Confucian classics, breaking the distorted status quo of aristocratic families privately interpreting the classics; someone who vigorously promoted work relief, almost single-handedly saving countless lives amidst successive natural disasters; someone who... proposed the philosophy of mind, already established merit and words, and was hailed by countless great Confucian scholars as Mr. Chen, who had the potential to become a sage... What do you think would happen?"

Li Chengqian was stunned.

He had never considered this question before.

But now, upon closer reflection, he suddenly understood what his mother meant.

Mr. Chen has already done this much. If he were to bring out these things and lower the threshold for reading to a level that was previously unbelievable, then...wouldn't Mr. Chen have completed the final step...establishing virtue?

Li Chengqian swallowed.

The concept of the "Three Imperishables" was first proposed by Shusun Bao, a high-ranking official of the State of Lu during the Spring and Autumn Period, in the Zuo Zhuan (Commentary of Zuo) in the 24th year of Duke Xiang. It was then systematically explained by Kong Yingda of the Tang Dynasty in the Zuo Zhuan Commentary.

It means to achieve the immortality and eternal life of one's spiritual life through establishing virtue, merit, and words, transcending the mere pursuit of family continuity or hereditary status.

Establishing virtue: refers to setting a moral example, cultivating oneself, creating laws and regulations, and widely helping the masses, so that one's personal virtues can shine for future generations.

Meritorious service: refers to making contributions to society and the country, achieving success and leaving a lasting legacy.

To establish words: refers to words that are passed down through generations, such as writing books, educating future generations, or proposing philosophical ideas, so that wisdom and culture can influence posterity.

Upon closer reflection, Li Chengqian realized a fact.

Chen Huai'an... seemingly without realizing it, had already accomplished it completely.

All that's left is to wait for time to tell!

"Sir...are you really going to become a saint?" Li Chengqian asked uncertainly.

"Yes!" Empress Zhangsun exclaimed with emotion, "Child, we are all fortunate to have been born in such an era, to have experienced countless magnificent events, to have seen countless different landscapes, and now, even more so, to have a sage born."

"You are even more fortunate to have become Mr. Chen's student. With this status, you are like a golden statue, and your position as the crown prince will be unbreakable."

Li Chengqian paused, then said weakly, "But... Father made Qingque and my younger brother both students of the teacher."

Empress Zhangsun: "..."

She didn't continue the topic, but encouraged him, "Chengqian, your mother supports you. Compile all of this into a book. Mr. Chen will definitely like this gift."

"Okay!" Li Chengqian nodded seriously.
