When I'm on the night shift, all the department heads can't sleep.
Chapter 234: I can talk to my family about this.
The next day, Lin Ye dropped Ma Hao off at the entrance of the administration building and then stopped.
"I'll come back in a bit."
Ma Hao glanced upstairs: "Aren't you supposed to be off work today? Won't you come in and sit with me for a bit?"
"The notification was only sent to you personally, why would I go there?"
"I was just being polite, but you really think I need someone to back me up?" Ma Hao tucked the file folder under his arm, took two steps into the building, then turned back. "Let's go. If it's really not working out, I'll find somewhere to hide for a couple of days."
Lin Ye held up his phone and waved it: "Send it to me when you're done."
"Know."
The corridors of the administration building were much quieter than the emergency room; footsteps could be heard all the way on the terrazzo floor.
Ma Hao went up to the third floor.
The door to the small conference room of the Science and Education Department was ajar. He straightened his collar outside the door and raised his hand to knock.
The evaluation form was inside the transparent document bag.
The small conference room still had the same long table as last time.
The teacher in charge of taking notes was already sitting at the computer, and Qin Hai had a medical record index spread out in front of him.
Ma Hao handed over the file bag.
Liu Zhenhua took out the evaluation form, turned to the page with three signatures, and then asked him to sit down opposite him.
Liu Zhenhua didn't look at the three signatures first; his pen tip hovered over the top line of the index: "In Zhang Ruiping's case, you were the one who received the medical record last, so why wasn't it included?"
"Before I went to pick up the patient in the emergency room, I didn't give anyone else the time for the re-evaluation." Ma Hao sat up straighter. "Zhang Ruiping and others went a bit too far and went to the nurses' station to find the doctor themselves. Although I handled the discharge procedures, no one was there when the re-evaluation was due, so this case can't be considered complete. That's why I told Teacher Qin not to sign it."
"Who replaced it?"
"Lin Ye took the person back to the observation bed and will continue processing the case when I return."
Liu Zhenhua flipped over the index and didn't ask any more questions about Zhang Ruiping's symptoms.
The teacher in charge of recording opened the last three case files, and the page stopped at the handover record and observation timeline.
The person in charge, the expected response, and the review time were all checked and can be found in the original records.
Qin Hai then spoke: "It's all in the records. Was it really handed over on the spot?"
"It's been handed over," Ma Hao said. "If the person taking over also has to leave temporarily, we'll continue handing it over. If we can't hand it over, just call me back."
Qin Hai checked all four indexes from beginning to end and signed his name in the review comments section.
The pen fell back onto the table, and Liu Zhenhua pushed the evaluation form to the teacher next to him: "Enter the results."
The keyboard clicked a few times.
The page refreshed, and the original "Under Supplementary Assessment" changed to "Assessment Passed".
Ma Hao stared at the screen for two seconds: "That's it?"
"Or should I have you invited to lunch?" Liu Zhenhua pushed the results notification in front of him. "The personnel procedures will be handled according to the instructions. Don't let the department be chasing you for additional documents tomorrow, just when things are over."
"Won't."
Qin Hai leaned back in his chair: "You used to say those two words too last time."
Ma Hao lowered his head and signed his name and the date on the notification form: "Then let me change it. If you need anything, just come to me directly, I won't hide."
"This sentence is still audible."
After leaving the administration building, Ma Hao first sent a message to Lin Ye: Passed.
He stood under the shade of a tree in front of the building, found his mother's number, and dialed it.
The phone rang three times before being answered. The sound of a range hood came through the receiver: "Didn't you say the re-evaluation was this morning? It's out so quickly?"
"Just came from the Science and Education Department."
There was a pause over there, but the range hood was still running.
"And the result?"
"Passed. The result has been recorded."
The mother called out from a distance, "Old Ma! Turn the TV down! Your son's gone too far!"
The sound of slippers approached from the receiver.
My father's voice came through the phone: "I told you not to ask three times a day. He can handle it himself."
"Who asked me what day it is in the middle of the night?" his mother replied, then asked Ma Hao, "What are the work arrangements? When do I officially start work?"
"We still need to wait for personnel to notify us. Let's just consider today as passing the evaluation stage first, and we'll talk about the rest later."
"Okay, I won't guess anymore," her mother replied quickly. "Have something good for lunch, don't just eat instant noodles again. Your dad just said he'd treat the family to a meal once you've settled down."
The father chimed in from the side, "I meant we'd eat by ourselves, not that we'd have a banquet."
"Did you hear that?" the mother whispered. "He's already started saving money."
Ma Hao laughed out loud: "Keep the money for now. I'll treat you guys when I get back after all the formalities are done."
Not long after hanging up the phone, Lin Ye turned from the intersection, carrying two bottles of water.
Ma Hao pulled the notification form from the file folder and displayed it in front of him: "Passed. Now you believe me?"
"When did I stop believing?"
"That's the one thing about you that's so boring; you won't even say something nice beforehand."
Lin Ye handed over a bottle of water: "Would saying one more word bring the results sooner?"
"No." Ma Hao took the water, unscrewed the cap, and took a sip. "But I don't have to pretend I don't care anymore."
The two of them went back to the dormitory to move their things.
Lin Ye had already packed the first batch of books into two cardboard boxes, sealing them halfway with tape, making the boxes bulge.
Ma Hao squatted down and tried to hug it, then immediately put it back on the ground.
"Are you packing books in here, or filling the boxes with cement?"
"Separate packaging means one more trip."
"I just passed my second review today, and you're already planning to use me as a sacrifice?" Ma Hao ripped off the tape on the box, pulled out a stack of books, and stuffed them into the canvas bag next to him. "Don't fill the box so full, who's going to pick them up one by one if they fall to the bottom?"
The last two cardboard boxes became three, plus a backpack filled with toiletries and a change of clothes.
The items filled the trunk of the ride-hailing car perfectly.
Ma Hao carried the lightest suitcase inside first. He had barely placed it on the living room floor when he straightened up and looked around: "Luckily it's on the first floor, saves me from climbing stairs. By the way, where do I put the books?"
"By the bedroom wall."
"You don't even have a bookshelf, why are you in such a hurry to move?"
"Let's put it under the table where we can for now."
Ma Hao glanced at the three cardboard boxes on the ground, said nothing more, opened the most frequently used box, and stuffed a few books into the empty space under the table.
When Lin Ye returned from the kitchen, he had already used two thick books to prop up the wobbly table legs.
"I want to read those two books."
"Let the table sit for a couple of days first," Ma Hao said, pushing the edge of the table. "Once you buy some proper footrests, then you can bring them back."
By the time we finished, it was past lunchtime.
The two of them didn't cook; instead, they went to a noodle shop outside the residential area and ordered two bowls of beef noodles, plus a plate of cold beef salad.
Ma Hao picked up the largest piece of beef from the plate: "I have a reason to eat more today."
"I paid for this dish."
"You moved, I helped with the housework; I passed the re-evaluation, you can celebrate." Ma Hao said matter-of-factly, his chopsticks never stopping. "Why am I the one eating all of this?"
Lin Ye moved the plate half an inch closer to himself: "Then take your time."
"Look, it hasn't been long since they officially started working, and they've already learned to guard their food."
No one rushed the meal, and no one mentioned the re-evaluation again.
After finishing the noodle soup, Ma Hao leaned back in his chair and let out a satisfied burp.
Back at his new place, Lin Ye took out another new key from the inner pocket of his backpack and handed it over.
Ma Hao was taken aback: "Why are you giving it to me?"
"The rest of the books haven't been moved yet. You can come and open the door whenever you get off work."
"You're treating me like a moving company, and you're not even paying me?"
"Haha, consider today's plate of beef a deposit."
Ma Hao laughed when he heard this, then took the key and hung it on his keychain.
"Okay." He put the keys in his pocket. "I'll move the rest of the boxes for you this weekend."
