"Five million!"

Zhou Zhengxiong's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, and his voice trembled.

Are you crazy?!

My entire safe zone's crystal core reserves total only a little over four million!

Five million is impossible!

You could turn the entire New Jinling compound upside down and still not find it!

"The rest can be offset by advanced gene therapy."

One is worth 100,000.

I have limited patience and I don't like it when people try to bargain with me.

Accept it, or die.

Zhou Zhengxiong opened his mouth, and the muscles on his face twitched violently a few times.

He recalled Lin Mo's casual remark, "Killing you will also give me these things," then glanced at the corpses of his guards lying on the ground behind him, and then at the cold, unwavering eyes of the young man before him. Finally, he gritted his teeth and forced out a few words:

"good……

"Do as you say, but this five million includes all our lives. Take the money, and you release us all!"

"Alright! But to be on the safe side, your son and these people will be detained in Dawn City for now. I'll release them after the deal is completed!"

"No, what if you cheat?"

"You have no right to negotiate with me. Accept it or die!"

"Okay! I hope you'll keep your word!"

Circumstances dictated that Zhou Zhengxiong had no choice but to agree.

Lin Mo ordered his men to escort Zhou Yaozu and all the surviving prisoners back to Shuguang City and imprison them in the underground solitary confinement cell. He also instructed Chi Linglong to stay in Shuguang City to guard against the escaped Master Chai making a surprise attack.

After everything was arranged, he personally led a dozen fully armed soldiers to escort Zhou Zhengxiong into the car, and the convoy headed towards the new Jinling safety zone.

The walls of the new Jinling security zone are higher than those of Shuguang City, standing more than ten meters tall. They are entirely made of reinforced concrete, with machine gun bunkers every few dozen steps on top of the walls. Searchlights on the watchtowers sweep back and forth, making it a heavily guarded area.

Lin Mo stood beside the car, gazing at the impenetrable wall of steel, secretly glad that he hadn't chosen to confront it head-on.

With such fortifications, even if we were to launch a strong attack and manage to take them down, it would come at a considerable cost.

He patted Zhou Zhengxiong on the shoulder, his tone carrying a hint of heartfelt emotion:

"Lord Zhou, you've built a really good safe zone."

With his hands tied behind his back, Zhou Zhengxiong's lips twitched as he heard this, unsure whether to feel proud or resentful.

The convoy stopped a few hundred meters outside the wall.

Lin Mo had Zhou Zhengxiong taken off the car and pushed him to an open space in front of the wall.

The sentries on the wall quickly noticed the commotion below, and several searchlights shone down simultaneously, illuminating the open space. A sentry in military uniform leaned halfway out of his machine gun bunker and shouted at the top of his lungs down:

"Who goes there? State your name!"

Zhou Zhengxiong took a deep breath, tilted his head back, and shouted towards the top of the wall:

It's me!

Open the door!

"Have the logistics department move all the crystal cores out, and take as many advanced gene serums as possible. Send them all outside! Quickly!"

When the sentry leaned out and saw that the man below, with his hands tied and covered in dirt, was indeed his boss, he was completely stunned.

He turned back and shouted a few words into the bunker. Soon, an officer ran out and peered down from the ramparts. After confirming that it was Zhou Zhengxiong, his face was full of disbelief.

Zhou Zhengxiong yelled again, telling them to stop dawdling and do as he said.

Shortly after, the side gate of the fence opened, and a truck loaded with wooden crates drove out.

Following Lin Mo's instructions, they moved the items into an abandoned large clothing store outside the wall. Wooden crates were piled up all over the floor, the fluorescent light from the crystal cores shimmered in the dim room, and gene serums were neatly stacked in metal boxes next to them, each one sealed with the safe zone's seal.

After Lin Mo had his men count each box and confirmed that the number was correct, he walked into the gas station alone and raised his hand to wave it lightly in the air.

The next second, the room full of crystal cores and potions vanished into thin air, leaving only a few faint gray marks left by the dragging of wooden crates on the ground.

Zhou Zhengxiong stood at the doorway and saw this bizarre scene clearly, his eyes wide open as if they were about to pop out of their sockets.

After several breaths, he managed to squeeze out a few words, his voice trembling:

"you……

What is this...?

"How is that possible!"

"Oops, you saw me. I was wondering whether to spare your life, but now it seems I have no choice but to take your dog's life!"

"you……

You did it on purpose.

Zhou Zhengxiong's voice was hoarse and trembling, and his legs began to move backward uncontrollably.

"You never intended to let me go from the beginning."

"You used this thing in front of me, which means you didn't intend to leave anyone alive."

"How could that be? I'm a good person!"

Lin Mo sneered and beckoned to Chi Linglong, who then kicked Zhou Zhengxiong in the back.

Zhou Zhengxiong flew directly into the clothing store, and at the same time, an ancient longsword appeared out of thin air in Lin Mo's hand, its blade gleaming with a cold metallic luster in the twilight.

As Zhou Zhengxiong was flying through the air, he opened his mouth to cry for help, but before the sound could even escape his throat, the sword light swept across his neck, so fast that there wasn't even a sound of wind.

Blood gushed from the severed head, splattering onto the nearby wall, where it was quickly absorbed by the dry surface.

The body crashed to the ground, raising a small cloud of dust.

Lin Mo put the longsword back into his spatial storage and turned to walk towards the waiting convoy.

The sentries in New Jinling had no idea what had happened until the convoy drove away and someone went to check the clothing store, only to discover that their leader was dead.

When the news reached New Jinling, the leaderless survivor camp instantly descended into chaos.

Back in Dawn City, Lin Mo sat alone in his office on the top floor of the financial center, his fingers unconsciously tapping lightly on the table.

The setting sun outside the window dyed the dried-up circular lake a dark red. Long queues still formed in the exchange hall, with survivors carrying crystal cores in and out. Everything seemed to be running normally, but he knew in his heart that this peace was only temporary.

It's impossible for Master Chai not to retaliate after he ran away.

Zhou Zhengxiong's last words were like a nail stuck in his mind:

The overlords of the southeast region, with an sphere of influence spanning millions of square kilometers, even SSS-level mutants like Master Chai were nothing more than their henchmen.

Such a behemoth would never swallow its pride after suffering a loss at his hands; they would definitely come knocking on his door.

If it's just sending people, whether they're SSS-level mutants or even higher-level experts, Lin Mo isn't afraid.

He at least had a chance to escape with his men.

But what he's really worried about is long-range attacks.

If the other side doesn't intend to send anyone at all, but instead sends a few bombers or launches a few missiles in the middle of the night to wipe Dawn City off the map, then the foundation he has painstakingly built will become a wasteland.

He wasn't sure how much military power this world still retained, but since the central island could afford to support an SSS-level mutant like Master Chai, it wouldn't be surprising if they kept a few bomb-dropping planes.
