Lin Mo didn't listen anymore.

He took a half step back, raised his foot, and kicked the door hard.

The latch flew off, and the door slammed heavily against the wall with a dull thud.

Everyone in the private room was stunned. Jiao Pi was leaning back on the sofa with a cigarette between his fingers. Two of his underlings were walking towards Lin Qingyue, one of them holding an iPhone.

Jiao Pi squinted and recognized the person at the door.

The burn scars on his face grimaced like a centipede under the light, and a disdainful smile immediately appeared on his lips:

"Who do you think I am? Isn't this the kid who drinks with those old women? If you don't give me a straight answer today, I'll have someone beat the shit out of you!"

As soon as Jiao Pi finished speaking, the two people who were originally going to take pictures of Lin Qingyue grabbed two empty wine bottles from the coffee table and surrounded Lin Mo from the left and right.

Lin Mo showed no sign of backing down, simply pointing at Lin Qingyue with a blank expression:

"She's my woman, I'm taking her away!"

"Stop pretending!"

The burly henchman walking in front, whose arms were almost as thick as Lin Mo's thighs, cursed and swung a bottle at Lin Mo's head.

Lin Mo sneered, took a half step forward with his left foot, and slashed out diagonally with his right arm from bottom to top. His dislocated wrist strike landed squarely on the opponent's wrist with a crisp sound, and the wine bottle flew out of his hand and smashed to the ground.

Before the burly man could even scream, Lin Mo's left hand had already grabbed his shoulder, pulled and pushed, dislocating his shoulder joint and slamming him onto the broken glass on the ground.

Seeing this, the henchman behind him immediately swung the bottle forward. Lin Mo twisted his waist and kicked him in the side of the knee, while at the same time, he struck the henchman's ribs with his right Yi Yang Finger.

The man collapsed to the ground as if his bones had been removed, clutching his ribs and curling up in a ball, unable to even groan.

In just a few breaths, one of the henchmen was screaming in agony while lying on the broken glass, and the other was curled up on the ground convulsing, while Lin Mo was still standing there, not even a wrinkle on his clothes.

Jiao Pi's smile froze completely on his face.

His hand had somehow found its way to the back of the sofa cushion, but he pulled it back when Lin Mo's gaze swept over.

"Burnt!" Lin Mo walked around the coffee table, stood in front of him, and looked down at him.

"I'm not here to interfere in your affairs; I'm just here to take her away. I suggest you cooperate and not make trouble for yourself. Also, if I find out later that you've been causing her trouble, I'll come back to you. At that point, your face will be more than just a burn."

As Lin Mo spoke, he ripped the gold necklace off Jiao Pi's neck, crumpled it into a gold ball with one hand, and threw it to her.

Jiao Pi subconsciously took the golden ball, looked at it in his hand, and immediately swallowed hard.

He tactfully pulled his hands out from behind the sofa cushions, placed them palms up on his knees, and nodded with a dry laugh: "Don't worry, big brother, I'll definitely avoid Miss Lin from now on!"

Lin Mo didn't look at him again. He turned around, grabbed Lin Qingyue's wrist, and pulled her, who was still in a state of shock, out of the private room.

In the back alley of the bar, the cold night wind carried the smells of swill and rust.

After the deafening music stopped, the surroundings suddenly became so quiet that only the hum of the air conditioner's outdoor unit could be heard.

Lin Qingyue's T-shirt looked particularly thin in the wind. She hugged her arms, trembling slightly, whether from the cold or from the fright she had just experienced.

Lin Mo stopped, released her wrist, turned around, and said in a voice laced with anger:

"Why didn't you come to me if you needed money? You went to a place like this to borrow money, the interest rates are so high they'll scare you to death. The little money you make in a month won't even cover the interest, how are you going to pay it back? Do you think Jiao Pi and his gang are any kind of good guys? They can make you take nude photos today, and force you to work as a prostitute tomorrow. Do you know you almost sold yourself just now?"

Lin Qingyue's shoulders trembled violently, as if struck by something. Then she slowly squatted down, burying her face in her knees. Her muffled voice came from her arms, broken into several fragments:

"My mom... my mom was just diagnosed with uremia. The doctor said she needs dialysis immediately, and then she has to wait in line for a kidney transplant. The total cost will be at least 500,000 yuan. We've borrowed from all our relatives and friends, and we can't borrow any more... I'm really desperate, Lin Mo, I really have no other choice, sob sob..."

Her sobs could no longer be suppressed, echoing through the empty alley in the dead of night, her thin back convulsing with each sob.

Lin Mo did not speak.

He crouched down and gently placed one hand on her shoulder.

"Alright, stop crying. I'll help you figure out a way to deal with your mother's problem."

Lin Qingyue's body trembled slightly. She raised her tear-streaked face, her eyes blurred with tears, and looked at him. Her lips moved several times, but she finally shook her head.

"No, Lin Mo! I can't drag you down with me. Your life has just begun; there's no need for you to fall into the abyss again because of me!"

"Don't worry, I'm confident! Actually, I'm from a hidden family. Your mother's uremia is just a minor illness in my eyes; I can solve it in no time!"

"A hidden family? Really?"

Lin Qingyue was somewhat skeptical. She had also come across those prank videos about the Dragon King's arrival, but they were all fake.

"Why would I lie to you? Okay, take me to the hospital. Let me check on Auntie's condition first."

"Okay!"

Lin Qingyue nodded with some doubt.

Lin Mo followed Lin Qingyue to the hospital. The pale fluorescent lights in the corridor were humming softly. Before they even reached the ward door, they saw several nurses hurrying in and out, and the stainless steel trays on the treatment carts were clanging.

Lin Qingyue's face turned pale, and she practically rushed over.

"Nurse, what's going on? I'm her daughter!"

Lin Qingyue grabbed a nurse who had just come out of the ward, her voice already distorted.

The nurse took off her mask, her forehead still covered in a thin layer of sweat.

"Your mother just cut her wrist with a broken glass, but luckily the nurses were searching for her and found her in time."

The wound has been cleaned and stitched up, and the bleeding has stopped. The person is now conscious, but has lost a significant amount of blood and is very weak.

What's going on with your family? The patient has a history of depression, how come no one is by his side?

Someone has to stay with her tonight; we absolutely cannot leave her alone again.

Lin Qingyue's hand slipped off the nurse's sleeve, and she froze for a moment before quickly walking to the bedside.

Su Qing lay there, her face as pale as paper, a bandage wrapped around her left wrist, with faint red bloodstains showing through it.

Her eyes were open, but she stared blankly at the ceiling, as if she couldn't see anything.

"Mom, why did you do this?"

Lin Qingyue rushed to the bedside, her voice extremely low, as if afraid that any louder sound would shatter something.

Su Qing's eyelashes trembled, and she slowly turned her head, her gaze falling on her daughter's face.

Her lips were dry and chapped, and her voice was so soft it seemed to drift from a great distance.

"Qingyue, Mom doesn't want to be a burden to you anymore. This disease is incurable. Even if you get a kidney transplant, you'll have to take anti-rejection drugs for the rest of your life, and those drugs are very expensive... You won't last more than a few years before you have to get another transplant. It's a bottomless pit, and Mom can't drag you into it for the rest of your life. Let Mom go, you live a good life on your own."

"No."

Lin Qingyue gripped her hand tightly, her voice trembling but utterly resolute.

"Mom, I've found someone who can cure you. Really, you'll be alright."

Su Qing shook her head, a bitter smile curving her lips, clearly not believing it.

Lin Qingyue suddenly turned around and called out to Lin Mo, who was standing at the door.

When Lin Mo entered the ward, Su Qing's gaze fell on his face, and she instantly recognized him as the male classmate who had taken Qingyue home that night. The initial confusion in her eyes was immediately replaced by wariness. She weakly propped herself up on the edge of the bed, trying to sit up slightly, her tone clearly guarded:

"It's you... What are you doing here? Get out of here, stay away from my daughter."
