"Lu-kun, this is what you asked me to look up before you left Japan."

Inoue Hiroshi took a brown file folder out of his bag and pushed it in front of Lu Mingfei:

"I also tried to use the power of government departments to suppress the influence of the Snake Clan, but with my current position, the public opinion and political power I can mobilize are not enough to affect such a huge yakuza family. Instead, it has provoked a backlash from the yakuza."

Hiroshi Inoue sat on the soft sofa in the booth, feeling somewhat ashamed. To be honest, he still felt it was a dream. In a very short time, he had transformed from a small-time gangster into a hot political star, riding high on his success.

Everyone knew that a formidable figure stood behind him, someone who could connect with a newly powerful family in Russia and easily resolve the Japanese government's international predicament, all to promote a young man into Japanese politics.

But only Hiroshi Inoue himself knew that the source of all this was a question asked to him by an underage child: "Do you want to become the Prime Minister of Japan?"

How absurd!

"It's alright. You should be able to become the Prime Minister of Japan soon. At that time, you will have enough power to influence the country."

Lu Mingfei pulled out the documents from the file folder. The top one was an officer's file. The person in the photo had a standard Russian face, standing tall in military uniform and looking directly at the camera.

"This is what we found out. The current head of the Snake Clan, Tachibana Masamune, whose original name was Bondarev, came to Japan more than 20 years ago. Before that, he lived in Soviet-era Russia for nearly 30 years."

Inoue glanced at the photo in the file. "I originally wanted to continue investigating along this line, but unfortunately, the ship he was on reportedly hit an iceberg and sank in some sea area. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, a lot of military data was also destroyed."

"What would the Japanese yakuza think if they knew their leader was actually Russian?"

Looking at the handsome and dashing man in the photo, Lu Mingfei said, "You actually allow a foreigner to lead you."

"Tachibana Masamune was of mixed Japanese and Russian descent, and it is said that he had Tachibana family blood in him."

Inoue Hiroshi hesitated for a few seconds, "After Tachibana Masamune took over the Snake-Headed Eight Families, he did indeed lead the family to expand its power significantly. As far as I know, many family heads are not actually aware of Tachibana Masamune's bloodline issues."

"And what are these photos?"

Lu Mingfei pulled out several photos from under the files. Most of these photos were taken at ports in Japan, showing police seizing goods from a ship. Several containers were sealed and placed on the dock, and the police officers who were sealing them were even wearing biohazard suits.

"These are the contraband items we seized from the cargo ship that was responsible for importing them. Customs only found a shell company established in Tokyo based on the cargo manifest."

Hiroshi Inoue said, "The container contained gene samples of reptiles and some reagent liquids of unknown purpose. The researchers at the institute could not analyze the composition of those reagents at all. They described that just looking at them up close would make people feel uncomfortable, so they suspected that they were some kind of radioactive contaminant."

"You suspect these things were transported by the Snake-Headed Eight Family?"

Lu Mingfei held the photo up to the light for close examination. The fluorescent reagents, however, appeared a sinister black under the light, like mosquitoes that had fallen into an oil can:

"Can you find out where these things came from?"

"According to the captain, they originally planned to go to South America to load soybeans, but they met a businessman on the way who claimed that he had a shipment in Italy that was going to Japan but couldn't find a suitable ship, so he hired them."

Inoue Hiroshi paused for a few seconds, "Actually, I only have suspicions. I only recently learned just how brazen the Snake Clan is in Japan. They smuggle a lot of weapons from abroad. I'm just a little curious about their purpose in transporting so many genetic samples?"

"I thought they would be shipped back from the United States."

Lu Mingfei put down the photos. "These things do indeed belong to the Snake-Headed Eight Families. In Japan, they are probably the only ones who would be so interested in reptile genes."

"Does Lu Jun know what they're going to do with these genes?"

Inoue Hiroshi asked calmly.

"Perhaps they want to cultivate something as terrifying as a dragon."

Lu Mingfei smiled, took out his phone, and sent a text message to Professor Guderian.

Hiroshi Inoue paused for a moment, somewhat taken aback:

"Those members of the Snake-Headed Eight Family must be insane!"

"It's not that the Snake Clan has gone mad; it's that someone wants to lure them into hell."

Professor Guderian replied to him quickly. Lu Mingfei looked at the surnames on the screen and tapped his fingers lightly on the table.

Inoue Hiroshi hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping himself. He still had many questions he wanted to clarify, such as why they said someone was luring the Snake-Headed Eight Families into hell? Do dragons really exist in the world? Are there still things in those gene samples that they haven't discovered yet?

He felt his mind was in a mess and couldn't help but shiver.

"Could you do me one more favor?"

Lu Mingfei stopped typing, enlarged the text on the screen, and held it up in front of Inoue Hiroshi:

"Help me investigate this family."

Inoue Hiroshi slowly widened his eyes. If he remembered correctly, one of Lu Mingfei's companions had this surname.

There were only three enlarged characters on the screen—

Gattuso.

Inoue Hiroshi remained silent for a long time:

"Excuse my bluntness, Mr. Lu, but why did you choose to have me investigate these things? There must be some secret hidden here that you can't let anyone know, right? Since you're willing to let me run for Prime Minister of Japan, wouldn't it be simpler to investigate just an Italian nobleman?"

"Because you won't lie to me."

Lu Mingfei looked directly into Inoue Hiroshi's eyes:

"If you want to do what you want to do, you have to rely on me. You know very well what you need to become the Prime Minister of Japan. I admire you. You harbor hatred in your heart and want to take revenge on this country. A revenger will not lie to the only chance he has in his life."

Inoue Hiroshi fell silent for half a minute, then suddenly burst into laughter, raising his glass with a sigh of relief:

"You're right, Lu Jun. I am an avenger, and I should stop at nothing. I don't care how shocking that secret is; I just want to raise my blade against those high and mighty people and send them to hell to atone for their sins!"

"I will be your best audience."

Lu Mingfei and Inoue Hiroshi clinked glasses and drank their drinks in one gulp.

"But why do you seem a little different, Mr. Lu? Did something happen when you went back to China?"

Inoue Hiroshi scratched his head.

"Oh, because someone told me that this is a world bound by interests, and that getting along with people is a constant exchange of benefits. I think that makes a lot of sense."

Lu Mingfei said.

"That makes a lot of sense!"

Hiroshi Inoue sighed, "If I had the chance, I'd really like to become friends with that person or something."
