Su Xiaoqiang also left, and when she left, she specially asked the driver to bring the business card of that kendo master.

She promised that once she returned, she would have her father, who worked in the mines, help her contact the kendo master. If Lu Mingfei was truly interested, then he should focus on recovering from his illness. Her family's company had several sponsorship opportunities each year, so Lu Mingfei wouldn't have to worry about tuition and living expenses when he went to Japan to study.

Su Xiaoqiang left her business card simply so that Lu Mingfei could stay in the hospital with peace of mind, and have something to look forward to, instead of always thinking about how to take down the polar bear and the lion.

Lu Mingfei looked down at the business card in his hand. On the front of the plain white cotton paper was a hideous red demon mask, and on the back was handwritten regular script—"Inuyama He". The elegant handwriting revealed an inexplicable sense of killing intent, as if it wanted to cut off your gaze through time.

Furthermore, there was no title, no address, no phone number, and no email address—nothing at all.

It's clear that the owner of the business card is a mysterious person; leaving the business card at the event was simply to prove that he was there.

Lu Mingfei put the business card away, took out his phone, and logged into QQ.

The QQ interface was quiet for a while, then the notification sound went off like crazy for a few seconds before stopping.

Lu Mingfei scrolled down the list, and most of the messages were from the class group and the literature club group. They were all just empty words, and he left the group chat after taking a look.

As he scrolled through the list, a comical panda avatar suddenly popped up. A friend with the nickname "Old Tang" sent a series of messages, acting like a gangster demanding repayment of a debt, as if afraid he would disappear if he hesitated even a second.

"Where have you been these past two days, Mingming? The whole channel is saying that I was unwilling to always be second best, so I sent an assassin to kill you!"

"Those guys have no idea about the bond between us! You're my half-brother from another country! I love you so much, how could I possibly want to kill you!"

"Stop playing dead! You're not invisible, I can see you're online, say something!"

Lu Mingfei suddenly relaxed as he looked at the words; he could almost picture Old Tang's expression even through the screen.

"I've been hospitalized for the past two days, so I haven't been online."

"Oh...are you sick? Is it serious?"

The tone on the other end suddenly softened.

"It's nothing, I just got into a fight with some thugs and beat them all into the ICU. Then the doctor said I have depression, so they forced me to be hospitalized."

Lu Mingfei was typing on QQ.

Old Tang was silent for a moment, then sent over a panda face emoji expressing his admiration.

Old Tang is Lu Mingfei's friend from abroad. He lives in New York and is of Chinese descent. Everyone calls him Old Tang, but he's actually not much older than Lu Mingfei.

They met in a StarCraft gaming group and would play StarCraft together when they were bored. Over time, they became friends and have now become "three different" brothers from different fathers, mothers, and countries.

Old Tang was actually quite good to Lu Mingfei. Lu Mingfei would message Old Tang when he was bored. Back then, he was still a sentimental loser, and he would pour out his troubles to Old Tang, from complaining about the injustice of the world to cursing the bad weather that had been raining all the time.

Old Tang would carefully read every message Lu Mingfei sent. When he saw messages complaining about the world, he would also complain, saying that the world was really messed up, with gunfire every day in New York and gunshots everywhere, making him afraid to even leave the house and only able to hide at home eating bread and sausages that were about to go moldy.

Lu Mingfei told Lao Tang that it was pouring rain today, and his aunt had to pick up his uncle from get off work and his cousin from school, so she couldn't come to pick him up. Therefore, he ran all the way back in the rain, and when he got home, he was dripping wet as if he had just been pulled out of the sea.

Old Tang said you're lucky; at least you'll be pulled out of the sea. It's been raining in New York for almost two weeks now, and my roof is still leaking. My heartless landlord keeps saying he'll fix it tomorrow, but then he keeps putting it off. Does he think he's Mulan, always procrastinating? I'm still soaking in water. If no one comes to fix my roof soon, he'll have to come all the way to America to rescue me!

Sometimes even Lu Mingfei had to admire Lao Tang's patience and optimism, for he was able to tolerate the resentment and negative emotions of a senior high school student.

But compared to Lao Tang's experience, even Lu Mingfei had to admit defeat.

Old Tang was an orphan who had been living in an orphanage since he was very young, relying on donations from people in society to get food. But life in the orphanage was not easy either. The pretty children could get a big ice cream as a reward from the director just by acting cute, but Old Tang had to do physical labor all day to earn a meager vegetable soup.

But he still lived happily every day. He finished high school with the help of financial aid, and after graduation he went out to work. Now he is able to support himself. Although he lives in poverty, he has survived and lives freely.

"But I remember you're a senior in high school, right? I looked it up online, and they said that senior high school students have no human rights until their exam results come out, and students with poor grades are treated like criminals."

Old Tang said, "I just asked some friends, and they said your situation is the worst possible. The school and parents will be ashamed of you and abandon you without hesitation. You'll only live in a huge shadow from now on... Damn! Is that true? What's twisted the minds of these teachers and parents? You're the victim! Instead of locking up the perpetrators, they choose to turn around and gang up on the victim. I really can't understand this bullshit logic!"

Old Tang was filled with righteous indignation, while Lu Mingfei didn't seem to feel anything:

"I haven't experienced it, so I don't know, but I've already received an invitation from a private university in Chicago and I'm going for an interview tomorrow, so what you're talking about probably won't happen to me."

"You're truly my brother! But just getting an interview opportunity isn't enough; the real test will come during the interview itself!"

Old Tang was genuinely concerned for Lu Mingfei. "Those interviewers usually ask you questions from very strange angles to test your on-the-spot reaction ability and oral communication skills. If the interviewee stumbles or gives an irrelevant answer, they will be eliminated."

How do you know so much about this?

Lu Mingfei typed a question.

"Hey! I heard that teaching others how to do interviews is a lot of money, so I went to look it up. Turns out, not everyone can teach others. They need to see your diploma, but all I can produce is my high school diploma."

Old Tang posted a dejected panda face in the chat box, "But it's all fate! Although I've never been to a university admissions interview, I've done a lot of research, and I can even correct your spoken English..."
