Chapter 36 Inuyama He
Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, Japan.
A giant neon sign hangs in the center of the night sky, with several large characters written on it in a flamboyant style:
"Tamamo-no-Mae Club".
Occasionally, office workers who have just finished overtime will pass by this street under the cover of night. You can see the neon lights flashing from a distance, and the edges of the letters are covered with misty silk that twists in the wind.
This "Tamamo-no-Mae" is a pilgrimage site in the hearts of men. Men in Tokyo know that the streets of Shibuya are a stage for beautiful women, but everyone knows in their hearts that even if you see all the beautiful women in Shibuya, it is not as good as taking a stroll in Tamamo-no-Mae.
The club owner must be a flamboyant person. During the renovation, the entire exterior wall of the building was covered with transparent bricks that looked like black crystals, resembling a black swan.
The silk fluttered in the wind like a swan spreading its wings, beneath which stood several beautiful women in kimonos, leaning against carved pillars, their eyes revealing a surging tide.
"I wonder when I'll have the chance to go in and take a look."
The office worker, smoking a cigarette, looked up at the sign and sighed, "This is practically a crime!" Look at those girls, dressed so thinly in such cold weather. Their kimonos were tailored, the fabric taut and outlining their amazing curves. Any slight movement would expose their legs, and their skin was as delicate and beautiful as silk.
He stood in the wind and finished his cigarette. He wanted to go over and offer some comfort to the girls, but the thought of working overtime until late at night, the subway being out of service, and not even daring to take a taxi, leaving him with no choice but to walk home, made him feel melancholy.
He turned his head and stared intently at the girl a few times, then stubbed out his cigarette, picked up his briefcase, and left, humming a tune.
A few minutes later, a convoy of black Mercedes-Benz cars slowly drove up in front of the black crystal-like building. The girls who were holding onto the pillars immediately stood up straight, each pulled out a paper umbrella from behind them and opened it. The umbrellas were painted with eerie ghosts or red spider lilies.
The girls, holding umbrellas, twirled and jumped down the steps, lining up from the club's main entrance all the way to the car door.
"Mr. Inuyama, I am truly flattered!"
The car door opened, and a portly middle-aged man stepped out. He looked up and saw all sorts of paper umbrellas spinning above his head.
Girls lined the path to welcome him, their necklines plunging open to reveal their fair, jade-like skin. No wonder people always say that the most beautiful women in Tokyo are in Tamamo-no-Mae; at a glance, beauties abound, dozens of girls, each with their own unique charm, singing and dancing to welcome the same guest. Even before entering, a luxurious atmosphere wafts over you.
"Mr. Kanzaki is one of the most outstanding officials in Japan. You have secured many benefits for ordinary people and provided a place for people like us who are not very capable to live... If it weren't for the concern about affecting your reputation, the head of the family might have used an even more extravagant approach."
Yoshitaka Hasegawa approached Mr. Kanzaki from behind and bowed deeply:
"These girls are not only welcoming you, but also protecting you. Although it is late at night, someone of your status will inevitably attract attention. The umbrellas they carry are specially made to block most detection methods. You can relax in Tamamo-no-Mae all night, and no one will know."
"I'm not here to relax tonight."
Mr. Kanzaki shook his head and said seriously, "I heard that Mr. Inuyama is preparing to start a business that can improve the living standards of the Japanese people, but he has been unable to obtain the government documents, so I came to find out more."
"I was so vulgar! I deserve to die! Please don't take offense, Mr. Kanzaki!"
Yoshitaka looked ashamed and bowed again.
"It's alright! I simply couldn't find the time during the day, so I could only visit late at night. I hope I haven't disturbed Mr. Inuyama's rest."
Mr. Kanzaki smiled and walked through the corridor formed by the girls' bodies, the faint scent of young girls lingering around his nose.
Yilong hurriedly stepped forward and pushed open the door.
It is ethereal and translucent, like the crystal world described in Buddhist scriptures.
The floor is paved with seamless crystal, and a huge chandelier hangs overhead, its light reflecting off the floor and transforming into a five-colored rainbow. A vermilion wooden staircase spirals along the four walls, like a giant vortex that gathers and disperses.
Anyone who steps into the Tamamo-no-Mae Club for the first time will feel a sense of unreality, as if they have stumbled into another dazzling world.
A girl in a brightly colored kimono folded her umbrella and surged in from behind Mr. Kanzaki, crowding around him as he walked up the stairs.
Mr. Kanzaki had no chance to refuse; a pair of soft, girlish hands were pushing him all over his body, and he felt like he was about to lose himself in the moment.
An elderly man in a dark blue kimono stood high above, gently tapping his palm with a white paper umbrella. He looked down at Mr. Kanzaki, who was surrounded by girls and wore a lewd smile, with an expressionless face.
Mr. Kanzaki went up to the third floor, where a person in a dark blue kimono was waiting outside the vermilion railing.
"It's been a long time, Mr. Kanzaki. It must have been four or five years since we last met."
Inuyama He bowed slightly.
"Yes, it's been a long time since we last saw each other."
Mr. Kanzaki seemed to wake from a dream. The girls surrounded him and went up to the third floor before retreating back to the dance floor, where dozens of long legs were raised high to the music.
Neither of them looked at the girls again. At the end of the corridor, the door slowly opened, and Inuyama He and Kanzaki walked in one after the other.
This is a quiet Japanese-style room, surrounded by white paper-covered wooden latticework, with an oak table in the center. There are no other decorations, and all sounds from outside are blocked out. It's extremely quiet and minimalist; it's hard to imagine that in this luxurious club, the owner would reserve such a simple, unfinished room for himself.
"I wonder what brings you here so late, Mr. Kanzaki?"
Inuyama He smiled as he poured sake for Kanzaki.
Kanzaki did not refuse, and raised his glass to drink with Inuyama He in one gulp.
After downing the sake, Kanzaki let out a long sigh, turned his sake cup upside down, sat cross-legged on the floor, looked up at Inuyama He, and got straight to the point:
"I heard you recently went to China and reached a cooperation agreement with a mining company there, importing some unreported ore into Japan. I'd like to know what's in that ore?"
Inuyama He remained silent for a long time:
"Mr. Kanzaki's information network is really impressive. My goods haven't even been unloaded from the ship yet, and you've already come knocking on my door... It's some abandoned mine. We detected some rare metal components in it, but because the quantity is too large and unstable, we can't determine the exact content. The mine owner didn't want to take the risk himself, so he simply sold it all to me in a package."
"I know you are one of the heads of the Snake-Headed Eight Families, and you are in charge of the sex industry. You have no right to interfere in this kind of international business. Someone else instructed you to do this!"
Kanzaki shook his head slightly. "To tell you the truth, your influence in Japan is too great. Some people at the top are worried that you will usurp power."
"Just because I brought some abandoned mines back from China? Aren't you people being overly sensitive?"
"Everyone in the world knows that the Chinese are willing to sell anything!"
Kanzaki straightened his back and looked into Inuyama He's eyes. "You didn't report it, so nobody knows what else was on that ship besides the ore. Maybe it was some kind of weapon."
"So what do you want?"
"We'll send people to move the ship's contents to a warehouse for seizure. If no weapons are found, you can continue using that pile of ore to refine your rare metals."
Kanzaki revealed his true intentions: "Believe me, at least we still have some connection. If you hand it over to me, at least I can help you keep those things. If you don't cooperate, then the Self-Defense Forces will send someone to negotiate with you."
