The game of power begins with the police officers at the local police station.

Tian Guangliang brought Shen Xiaorong to Yang Xiong's office. Yang Xiong said, "Teacher Yang, this is Shen Xiaorong."

Teacher Yang extended his hand: "Hello, Shen. I am Yang Run, the person in charge of admissions for Tsinghua and Peking Universities in Donghai Province."

Shen Xiaorong extended her hand and shook hands with Yang Run: "Hello, Teacher Yang."

"Please have a seat, Shen." Seeing that Yang Xiong and the others showed no intention of leaving, Yang Run smiled and said, "Principal Yang, we would like to speak with Shen privately."

"Okay," Yang Xiong smiled awkwardly and led the way out of the office.

Yang Run looked at Shen Xiaorong: "Student Shen, what major do you want to study?"

"I want to study medicine and major in clinical medicine."

"The eight-year clinical medicine program at Peking University School of Medicine and Kyoto Union Medical College, combined with a bachelor's and doctoral program, is a '4+4' elite training program. Peking Union Medical College Hospital is the best hospital in China, and we have collaborations with top medical schools abroad, allowing students to study abroad for two years."

Exchange and study opportunities at world-class medical schools such as Harvard and Oxford.

Shen Xiaorong nodded: "Indeed, Tsinghua and Peking University's medical schools are the best choices in China. Compared with foreign universities, they are still somewhat inferior."

Yang Run heard from Shen Xiaorong that he wanted to study abroad.

"Studying abroad is extremely expensive for Shen, and ordinary families simply cannot afford it."

Shen Xiaorong smiled sweetly: "I am the top science student in Donghai Province. The school awarded me 500,000 yuan, and there are also some corporate sponsorships, so it will be at least several million yuan. I can also apply for scholarships to study at universities abroad. I am confident that I can get a scholarship."

Yang Run thought to himself, "A talent like Shen Xiaorong shouldn't go abroad; she should stay in China."

"Student Shen, if you apply to Tsinghua or Peking University, we will waive your tuition fees for eight years of undergraduate and doctoral programs."

Tsinghua University also offers generous national scholarships, university scholarships, and grants, which you are eligible for with your grades. The total annual scholarship amount is around 100,000 yuan.

Who says you can't make money by studying? Shen Xiaorong earned 100,000 yuan just from studying and receiving scholarships.

Shen Xiaorong said, "I'll think about it some more, whether to study in China or go abroad."

Yang Run grew anxious and looked at Shen Xiaorong: "Student Shen, you can name your conditions. I hope that someone as talented as you can stay in the country and contribute to the country's development."

Shen Xiaorong thought for a moment: "Teacher Yang, the dormitories at Tsinghua University are shared by several people per room."

"There are double rooms, four-person rooms, and eight-person rooms. When you go to Tsinghua or Peking University, we will arrange a double room for you."

Shen Xiaorong looked at Yang Run: "Teacher Yang, I like quiet and don't like being disturbed. If I apply to the medical school of Tsinghua or Peking University, could you arrange a private dormitory for me?"

Yang Run thought for a moment and said, "No problem, I'll apply for a separate dormitory for you from the school."

Shen Xiaorong added, "I have my own plans for my studies. When I went to Tsinghua and Peking Universities, I wanted absolute freedom and to be free from anyone's constraints."

Yang Run was in a dilemma; he couldn't make the decision himself. Shen Xiaorong continued, "The absolute freedom I'm referring to is, under the premise of abiding by school rules, and not being interfered with by anyone."

"Shen, wait while I report to the relevant leaders." Yang Run stood up, walked out of the office, and went to make a phone call.

Two assistants stood by taking notes without saying a word.

A short while later, Yang Run returned: "Student Shen, the relevant school leaders have agreed to your request. Under the premise of abiding by school rules, you will be given absolute freedom, and no one will interfere with your studies."

Shen Xiaorong smiled broadly: "Okay, thank you, Teacher Yang. I've decided to study at a university in China."

Yang Run was overjoyed, having saved a talented person for the country.

An assistant connected to the office printer, printed out two copies of the agreement, which Yang Run carefully reviewed before handing to Shen Xiaorong.

"Shen, take a look. There's nothing wrong. Sign it."

The school promises to waive your tuition and fees for the eight years of your undergraduate-doctoral program, provide you with an independent dormitory, and, based on your circumstances—you are an orphan and eligible for scholarships and school subsidies for impoverished students, etc.—provide subsidies totaling over 30,000 yuan per year. If you are frugal, it will be enough for you.

The school can arrange work-study programs for you, which can earn you over a thousand yuan per month, depending on your preference.

National scholarships and school scholarships depend on your academic performance. With your academic talent, you should have no problem getting these scholarships, which amount to around 100,000 yuan a year.

Provided you abide by the school rules, you have absolute freedom, and no one will interfere with your studies.

Shen Xiaorong nodded, read the agreement, and signed it.

Yang Run took the agreement and handed the college application form to Shen Xiaorong.

Shen Xiaorong took the college application form and listed Tsinghua University and Peking University School of Medicine as her first choice.

Shen Xiaorong only filled in one application, and Yang Run took the application form.

"Student Shen, welcome to apply for the early admission program of Tsinghua and Peking University School of Medicine. The admission notice will be mailed to you in early July. Please keep your mobile phone accessible during this period."

"Okay, Ms. Yang, see you when school starts."

Yang Run, accompanied by his assistant, walked out of the office, where Yang Xiong greeted him.

"Teacher Yang, the school has arranged a simple meal. Please have it before you leave."

Yang Run glanced at his watch; it was a little past two o'clock. "Principal Yang, let's not eat. We still have to rush to other places to recruit students; time is of the essence."

Yang Xiong saw Yang Run and the other two off to their car and only returned to his office after they left.

Jiang Yiqiu said to Shen Xiaorong, "Come to my office for a moment."

Shen Xiaorong followed Jiang Yiqiu to the office.

Jiang Yiqiu said, "Sit down."

"Principal Jiang, I need to go home for a while. What's the matter? Please tell me."

Jiang Yiqiu sat down: "Shen Xiaorong, well done, you didn't disappoint me. You are the top science student in the province, and the school would like you to cooperate in filming a recruitment promotional video."

When will it be filmed?

"Tomorrow afternoon, after you finish your interview with the Minnesota Daily."

"it is good"

Jiang Yiqiu was surprised that Shen Xiaorong readily agreed without making any demands.

I'll drive you home.

"No need, I'll just take a taxi back."

Before Jiang Yiqiu could speak, Shen Xiaorong had already left.

Chen Shi was in his office checking the college entrance examination results for Chunyang County this year. There were 49 students from No. 1 High School who scored above 600 in both arts and sciences, and the undergraduate admission rate reached 57.8%, achieving 55% of the Education Bureau's college entrance examination target.

The students in the college entrance examination of No. 6 Middle School were from three rural high schools that were merged together. Their foundation was not good. Three of them scored over 600 points: two in science, with the highest score being 617, and one in humanities, with the highest score being 601.

The undergraduate admission rate reached 31.4%. Previously, the Education Bureau had set a target of 30% for the three rural high schools, so this was considered a completed task.

Chunyang County achieved remarkable results in this year's college entrance examination, with 52 students scoring above 600 points, including 39 in the science stream. The highest score was 739, the highest in the province.

Thirteen students scored above 600 in the liberal arts section, with the highest score being 621.

With an undergraduate enrollment rate of 44.6%, ranking fifth in the city, the team has finally escaped the bottom of the rankings.

The phone rang, and Chen Shi picked it up to see that it was Liu Youguang calling. He quickly answered the call.

Mayor Liu

"Xiao Chen, the college entrance examination results in Chunyang County this year are quite good, proving that I made the right choice in education. I am very satisfied with this result, which marks a perfect end to my career in Chunyang County."

"Mayor Liu, Chunyang County's outstanding achievements are all thanks to your leadership; I was merely carrying out the orders."

"I hope that Chunyang County's college entrance examination results will continue to be good. You will be serving as the executive deputy county head in the county government soon, so the Education Bureau must select the right person."

"Mayor Liu, I was just about to report to you that I would like to recommend Huang Ming to the county party committee to serve as the director of the Education Bureau."

Liu Youguang nodded: "There's no problem with Huang Ming serving as the director of the Education Bureau."
