In August, the sun hangs overhead like a fireball in northern Beijing, the air is stuffy and humid, even the wind is scorching, making it hard to breathe.

The study tour group of the second-year students from the High School Affiliated to Southern Province arrived at Peking University. Two teachers led more than 100 students on a whirlwind tour of the Peking University campus.

During the three-day trip to the capital, there were many places to visit, so we were always in a rush and didn't even have time to go to the restroom.

The weather was hot, and Lin Xuechun drank a lot of water along the way. When she passed the gymnasium, she couldn't hold it in any longer, so she said goodbye to the teacher in charge and went inside to find a restroom.

When she came out of the restroom, the stadium entrance was empty; the main group had already disappeared.

Could it be that there are too many students and the teachers have forgotten about her?

Speechless, she raised her wrist and tapped the screen of her phone watch, preparing to contact her teacher. But after several taps, the screen remained completely black with no response.

She then realized that she seemed to have forgotten to charge her watch before going to bed last night.

Her mother forbids her from using a mobile phone, so she has always used a phone watch at school.

Unlike mobile phones, which are used every day and drain the battery quickly, so I remember to charge them every day, I only use my phone watch when making or receiving calls or sending messages, and I usually charge it every two or three days.

Now my watch is dead. How am I supposed to contact my teacher?

Lin Xuechun stood at the entrance of the gymnasium, surrounded by waves of heat. Her small face was wilted by the sun, and she bit her lip in frustration as she pondered a solution.

Just then, she suddenly heard the sound of a basketball hitting the ground coming from inside the stadium.

Someone is playing ball.

Perhaps we could borrow a phone from someone inside?

Her eyes lit up, and she turned around and went back.

Inside the basketball court, the overhead lights were dazzling, and the light fell from above, covering the entire court.

Four or five boys were playing half-court, and the sound of their sneakers rubbing against the floor was a bit jarring. She looked over and immediately spotted one of the boys.

His tall stature and striking black jersey contrasted sharply with his pale skin.

His exposed arms and legs were long and slender with smooth muscle lines, and he wore a pair of white and gold basketball shoes.

When his teammate passed the ball to him, he easily caught it, then dribbled the ball a few steps to the basket, suddenly jumped up, and his whole body in mid-air was like a bow being suddenly drawn. The basketball went into the basket, and the hem of his jersey was pulled up a bit, revealing his tight waist.

The basketball bounced back onto the floor with a thud, and his teammates looked at him, shouting "Good shot!" and someone even whistled at him.

But the boy's expression was indifferent, revealing a hint of nonchalant coldness. He didn't have the wild and arrogant energy that comes with dunking, as if dunking was just an everyday occurrence.

However, it was precisely this nonchalant and indifferent nature that captivated Lin Xuechun's attention, and she stood there watching for quite a while.

The boys were engrossed in their game, and her position was inconspicuous, so no one noticed her.

Coming to her senses, Lin Xuechun realized that she had overestimated her outgoing nature; she seemed to be too afraid to approach those boys and ask to borrow their phones.

It's so hot outside, like a sauna. Rather than going out and having to go through all that trouble, it's better to just stay here and wait for the teacher to come back and find us.

She looked at the bench in the rest area, walked over with her backpack, sat down, took the backpack off and put it on her lap, hugged it with her arms, and sat there obediently to wait.

For ease of management, the students in the study tour group all wore the school uniform of Nanjing Normal University Affiliated High School: white short-sleeved shirts, red sweatpants, and a school badge on their chests.

Lin Xuechun was dressed similarly, with her hair styled in a high ponytail. Because of the hot weather, she combed all her bangs to the top of her head, revealing her smooth forehead, small face, pointed chin, bright almond-shaped eyes, delicate nose, and red lips.

The rest area was right next to the court. After she sat down, with her pure and pretty face, some boys on the court quickly noticed her.

Shen Yu passed the ball to Xi Chenzhou, his eyes glancing out of the court and then fixed on it: "Hey, Zhou-ge, there's a girl over there. Is she here to wait for you again? But this one is really beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous!"

Xi Chenzhou didn't even look in that direction, dribbling the ball and coldly asking, "Are we playing or not?"

"Take a break, I can't go on." Shen Yu grabbed his jersey collar and fanned himself twice, his eyes still drifting towards the rest area. As he looked around, he casually explained, "This time, it wasn't me who leaked the news that you were here."

"It wasn't me either." Another boy chimed in, "I'm going to get some water, I'm dying of thirst."

Several boys stopped.

Xi Chenzhou dribbled the ball twice, lowered his hand, and finally glanced towards the rest area.

Then they followed in Shen Yu's footsteps.

Seeing that he was also going over, Shen Yu exchanged a glance with his two companions beside him, and they all tacitly slowed down.

This is the first time that Zhou Ge has taken the initiative to go over to the girls waiting outside the venue.

When girls usually come to watch, it's always the other girls who go first and send them away before he finally arrives.

This is really unusual.

Lin Xuechun saw several figures coming this way, and the one walking in front was the boy in the black jersey.

The boy was facing her, his bangs damp with sweat, casually parted, revealing his entire face clearly—dark eyebrows, cold eyes, a high nose bridge, and a sharp, defined jawline.

He was even taller up close than when viewed from across the court, with straight shoulders, long exposed arms and legs, and a thin layer of sweat on his fair skin that glistened under the lights.

Noticing her, the boy casually glanced at her. Lin Xuechun blinked, lowered her eyes, and tightened her grip on her schoolbag slightly.

I don't know why, but my heart is beating a little fast and my face is a little hot.

A few seconds later, white basketball shoes came into view, and at the same time, a lazy voice came from above: "Excuse me, classmate, could you move aside?"

Ok?

Is she bothering him by sitting here?

Lin Xuechun stood up a beat late, glanced at him, and stood to the side.

The boy bent down, pulled a black sports bag from under the bench, unzipped it, and took out a towel and a sports water bottle.

Lin Xuechun then realized that she had indeed been blocking people's way.

She pursed her lips and looked at the boy. He quickly noticed and turned to look at her, raising an eyebrow as if to ask: "Do you need something?"

Lin Xuechun's cheeks flushed even redder, and she bit her lip and shook her head.

The boy looked away, unscrewed the water bottle, tilted his head back slightly, and poured water into his mouth. His Adam's apple stood out on his pale neck, bobbing as he swallowed.

After finishing his water, the boy casually wiped the water from the corner of his lips, screwed the cap back on, and turned to see Lin Xuechun still staring at him. Finally, he spoke, "What's up?"

"Huh? Oh." Lin Xuechun's eyes darted nervously left and right. She raised her hand to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her face flushed like an apple. "Um, classmate, could I borrow your phone to make a call?"
