Chapter 36 Yayaro in the midst of war, scavenging for scraps
"In the original story, Yaya Luo did indeed experience a war, and the blue eyes of the Galaxy Eye reached out to this planet."
Ye Han thought for a moment and then went inside.
The entire shop resembled a ransacked secondhand market, with shelves piled high with all sorts of mechanical parts whose purpose was unclear, and rusty tools and spacesuits of questionable condition hanging on the walls.
Several old robots of different appearances were placed on the ground. One of them had its mechanical leg broken in half and was leaning crookedly against the corner of the wall.
In the corner were several stacks of old spaceship engine covers and tail fin debris, and the air was filled with the smell of engine oil and rust.
But upon closer inspection, you'll find that although these things are old and worn, they are arranged in a neat and orderly manner.
As soon as Ye Han took a step inside, a round robot rushed out from behind the shelf at an astonishing speed.
Its body is a flat, cylindrical metal barrel with four thin, short mechanical arms extending from both sides. Its head is a hemispherical display screen showing two pixelated round eyes and a large smiling face.
"Welcome to the Cosmic Junk Company! I'm Manager Sai Daxi! We have all kinds of junk; if you can think of it, we'll take it!"
"What are you looking for, sir? Used parts? Refurbished engines? Or newly arrived Yayaro battlefield souvenirs? I have fragments of Yayaro Royal Guard helmets here, absolutely authentic!"
As the robot named Sai Daxi spoke, it pulled a half-burnt metal sheet from the shelf. Half of a badge could be vaguely seen on it. It was unclear whether it had actually been picked up from the battlefield or burned by the robot itself with a welding torch.
In this world, robots are no longer a rarity.
From automated food carts selling snacks on street corners to large cargo AIs responsible for scheduling in spaceports, and even self-employed robots like CyberStar that run their own shops, mechanical life has permeated almost every corner of interstellar civilization.
Some of them serve humans, some operate independently, and some robots on certain planets have even established their own communities and rules.
That's why Ye Han wasn't too surprised by the iron-skinned shopkeeper in front of him who called himself Sai Daxi.
Ye Han looked at the so-called fragment of a royal guard helmet, offered no comment, and instead asked:
"The sign at the entrance says that Yaya Luo has started a war? Is it true?"
Sai Daxi placed the metal sheet on the shelf, his smiling face turning into serious, round eyes:
"You've come to the right person! According to my reliable sources, the Blue Eye of the Galaxy Eye has designs on Yayaro, so he started the war."
"As a small-time junk dealer, I don't know the specifics, but Yaya Luo is a complete mess right now. If you want to go scavenge... no, if you want to check out the situation, just pay 1000 yen, and you can leave tonight."
"My spaceship may be a bit old, but it can definitely reach Yayaro. We'll return together in two days, and I guarantee I'll bring you back safely!"
As it spoke, it extended a mechanical finger and pressed it on the card reader on its chest, which displayed a card slot and a payment code.
Upon hearing Sai Daxi's introduction, Ye Han was reminded of the plot of Ya Ya Luo.
To prove himself, Gudu believed the alchemist Chang'e's lies about the elixir of immortality and wanted to grant the people of Yaya Luo eternal life.
To this end, he did not hesitate to sell the space jump device on Yaya Luo Star to fund his alchemy.
Selling the space jump device cost Yayaro his ability to travel between stars and indirectly led him into the trap set by the Galaxy Eye, ultimately making him Yayaro's culprit.
A space jump device?
Ye Han had some recollection of this device. Ya Ya Luo's space jump device was the entire planet's escape route, capable of transporting the planet to distant star systems, far away from war.
If we could get our hands on the space jump device and install it on the spaceship, it would be much more convenient to go anywhere in the future.
Without relying on artificial wormholes or taking detours between Class A planets, we can directly open wormholes and jump around; tens of thousands of light-years are nothing more than a single space jump.
Ye Han immediately took out the card and tapped it on Sai Daxi's card reader.
A crisp sound rang out, indicating successful payment, and four words popped up on the screen: "Paid 1000 You".
"We're leaving tonight, right?" Ye Han put the card back in his pocket.
Sai Daxi's eyes lit up with excitement, and all four mechanical arms simultaneously raised in a cheer: "This guest is so generous! Tonight at 10 PM, berth 9527 at space station, the exclusive spaceship of the Space Junk Company."
"The 'Scrap Ship' will take off on time, guaranteeing your safe arrival in Yayaro. Pick up as much scrap as you want!"
"The Broken Ship? Could your spaceship name be any more auspicious?" Ye Han said helplessly.
Sai Daxi confidently stated, "A name is just a code! My beat-up phone may have an old shell, an old engine, and occasionally lose a screw or two, but it has never let me down, so don't worry."
"Yayaro is near Carlo Star. I've sailed this route several times; I could navigate it with my eyes closed. You can rest assured, entrusting yourself to Sai Daxi is the right choice!"
"Your last sentence makes me even more worried," Ye Han said, but he had no intention of getting a refund.
"Guest, feel free to browse around the store. Tell me what you like, and everything will be 20% off. I'll go prepare it now."
After saying that, Sai Daxi ran into the back room, and a series of jingling sounds came from inside.
Ye Han didn't stand on ceremony and started browsing the store.
Although the Space Junk Company looks like an abandoned warehouse, a closer look reveals quite a few interesting things.
Ye Han looked at each item one by one, occasionally picking up one or two to examine.
While browsing around a corner, he found an inconspicuous little container and took out a small ring from the bottom box of the container.
Calling it a ring would be an understatement.
The ring was deformed, crooked and twisted like a crushed pull tab from a soda can. Its surface was covered with a thick layer of rust and grime, and you could vaguely see that the original silver-white metal material underneath was now as black as charcoal.
A small stone of unknown material was embedded in the ring face; it was grayish, dull, and had several fine cracks on its surface.
The ring looked like it had been dug out of a garbage dump, and Sai Daxi probably thought so too, so he casually tossed it into the most inconspicuous corner and didn't even bother to put up a price tag.
For some reason, Ye Han had a particular fondness for this thing.
It's probably a subconscious feeling that in a place like a run-down company, the most inconspicuous things are often the most valuable.
He held the ring, activated the horse talisman within his body, covered the ring with the power of the talisman, and slowly repaired the small object.
"Hey, how much is that dark ring under the cabinet?" Ye Han shouted.
"That piece of junk is free, you can have it."
He said those words himself.
Ye Han put the ring, which was being repaired, into his pocket.
Besides the ring, there were a few other things in the store that he also wanted to buy.
Unfortunately, there's nowhere to store it. I have to go to Yaya Luo tonight, and I can't exactly carry a big bag of junk into battle.
It's inconvenient to buy it; I can only wait until the next spaceship comes.
"Sai Daxi, I'm leaving now. Don't forget about tonight's plans," Ye Han said casually as he left the shop.
"Don't worry, don't worry, I won't forget."
The street outside had been completely swallowed by the night, and the neon lights became even more dazzling.
