Chapter 320 8-Ton Lunar Delivery and the Knife at the Doorstep
"Liu Ruyan, the landing and recovery are entirely in your hands. After the mineral crystals are unloaded, have the Terminator take them directly to the scrap yard warehouse."
Li Yichen hung up the phone, tossed it aside, and drove back to the villa.
He couldn't be bothered with the landing of Lingxiao No. 3 this time; as long as Ling'er was watching, nothing would go wrong.
At 3 a.m., three orange-red flames tore through the clouds and landed one after another on the sea platform of the future space base. In the last 200 meters, the thirty aurora variable cycle engines of Lingxiao-3 switched to hovering mode, and eight hydraulic support legs extended and steadily entered the docking slots reserved on the platform.
Liu Ruyan stood in the control room, staring at the data flashing on the screen. All three landings had an error margin of less than five centimeters.
"Eight thousand tons of mineral crystals, delivered intact." Ling'er's voice came through the earpiece. "The recovery capsule is well-sealed, radiation levels are normal, unloading can begin."
"Okay, let's begin." Liu Ruyan breathed a sigh of relief, turned around and walked out of the control room.
Two hundred Terminators were already lined up on the platform, ready to go. The unloading hatch opened, and the dark purple mineral crystals gleamed eerily under the lights. The Terminators moved in perfect unison, and in less than ten minutes, the first batch of mineral crystals was loaded onto the transport trucks.
The entire process was eerily quiet. The only sounds were the low hum of the robotic arm and the waves crashing against the platform's supports.
Liu Ruyan glanced at the time; it was 4:30 a.m. She held a cup of coffee, leaned against the railing, and let the sea breeze tousle her hair.
This boss is so damn easy to deal with; he leaves everything to her, this lazy bum.

Li Yichen woke up at eight o'clock in the morning.
After washing up, he went downstairs and found breakfast prepared by Uncle Zhou on the table—fried eggs, bacon, toast, and a cup of black coffee. He ate slowly and deliberately, wiped his mouth after finishing, picked up his car keys, and went out.
When the car arrived at the dock area of Future Aerospace Group, the security guard at the gate saluted and raised the barrier to let it pass.
Li Yichen parked his car outside Dock No. 3, pushed open the airtight door, and the scene before him made him stop in his tracks.
The bottom keel has been laid across the entire dry dock. The silver-gray superalloy frame reflects a cold, hard luster under the lights, like the skeleton of some prehistoric behemoth. On the three-tiered circular platform, two thousand Terminator welding machines are operating simultaneously, the arcs of electricity from the welding torches rising and falling in waves, as dense as an impending blue-white downpour.
"Brother, we're over 30% complete, totally meeting expectations." Ling'er's holographic projection appeared on his shoulder, hands on her hips, looking smug. "At this rate, we'll definitely finish within six months."
Li Yichen walked halfway around the keel and reached out to touch one of the main beams. The metal surface was cool, the welds were smooth, and there wasn't a single flaw to be seen.
What material is used for the middle layer of the keel?
"A superconducting tungsten-gold alloy with 3% vibranium powder added." Ling'er jumped onto a crossbeam, squatted down and patted it. "It's more than ten times stronger than pure titanium alloy, and it's also tough. Most importantly, it's cheap."
Li Yichen chuckled, said nothing, and turned to walk out.
"Go to the precision laboratory building."
The car drove out of the dock area and stopped in front of a detached building seven minutes later. Card swiping, iris recognition, and the airtight door opened.
The workshop in the experimental building was much busier than when I last visited. Five small cold fusion reactors had been added against the wall, their indicator lights flashing quietly blue. In the center of the workshop, five brand-new Titan mechs stood side by side, their dark gray armor gleaming matte under the overhead lights.
Li Yichen approached one of the machines and tapped the breastplate. A dull echo reverberated through the workshop.
"Superconducting tungsten-gold fusion alloy," Ling'er floated onto the mecha's shoulder, "isn't as insanely hard as vibranium, but it can withstand medium-sized missiles without any problem in its bare state. With an energy shield added, even heavy missiles are helpless against it."
"What about the energy shield's recharge speed?"
"The shield fully charges in three seconds and lasts for fifteen minutes." Ling'er counted on her fingers. "If we switch to combat mode, the shield can overload its output, doubling its strength, but it can only last for five minutes."
Li Yichen circled the mecha once, then patted the shoulder armor and smiled.
"Good. Continue manufacturing; keep this batch as a backup."
"Brother," Ling'er suddenly spoke, her voice filled with a hint of eagerness, "Now that the production line has some spare capacity, how about we get a few commercial satellites? Our group's communications and data relays have been leasing frequency bands from other companies, why don't we build a batch ourselves?"
Li Yichen paused, turned around and glanced at her.
"What kind of tricks are you trying to pull?"
"No, no!" Ling'er waved her hand, her little face full of innocence. "I just felt that instead of paying others, it's better to do it ourselves. Besides, we have Lingxiao-1, the launch cost is basically zero, isn't that worthwhile?"
Li Yichen stared at her for two seconds, then suddenly smiled.
"Sure, a commercial satellite shell is fine, but stuff more stuff inside."
Ling'er's eyes lit up: "What are you stuffing in?"
"Each one is equipped with a high-powered laser weapon, a large-caliber electromagnetic cannon, and an energy shield module." Li Yichen said calmly, as if he were talking about what to eat today. "To the outside world, we'll say it's a communication satellite equipped with a 0.5-nanometer photonic current-carrying chip."
Ling'er paused for half a second, then rubbed her two little hands together until sparks flew out of the air.
"A wolf in sheep's clothing! Bro, I love your idea so much!"
"Enough talk, where are the blueprints?"
"immediately!"
Ling'er spun in the air, then gestured with her hands, unfurling a massive holographic projection. The satellite's three-dimensional model slowly rotated in the air, its internal structure clearly visible—the communication module occupied one-third of the space, with the remainder consisting of weapon systems and energy supplies.
Li Yichen examined it for five minutes and pointed out a problem with the heat dissipation structure. Ling'er immediately made adjustments, and a new version of the blueprint was generated three seconds later.
"This is it, final draft."
"Alright!" Ling'er flew onto his shoulder and counted on her fingers, "We have three spare 10-axis industrial mother machines. All five satellites will be launched within two days, no problem."
Li Yichen took out his phone and dialed Liu Ruyan's number.
It rang twice before being answered.
"Mr. Li?"
"The launch of Lingxiao-1, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed by one day," Li Yichen said succinctly. "The day after tomorrow, we will send the five new satellites, along with the previously built space-based weapons, into orbit."
Liu Ruyan paused for a second, then said, "Understood. I'll rearrange the launch windows."
"Okay, that's settled."
After hanging up the phone, Li Yichen turned and walked out. Ling'er leaned on his shoulder and whispered, "Brother, do you think those companies that rent our satellite frequency band would be terrified if they knew there were five satellites with cannons hovering overhead?"
Li Yichen ignored her.
-
Evening at Tomson Riviera.
After finishing dinner, Li Yichen nestled on the sofa in his study, scrolling through short videos. Ling'er, perched on the edge of her watch, was also swiping the virtual screen; the two were unusually quiet.
You swipe past a funny video, and the next push notification pops up.
Li Yichen's thumb stopped.
The scene depicts dawn over the East China Sea. On an island 180 kilometers from the coast, countless soldiers, fully armed, stand in formation. Heavy missile launchers, phased-array radars, and coastal defense systems are being transported to the island by landing ships in batches. A Japanese major general, dressed in military uniform, faces the camera with an arrogant expression.
"This is a free navigation zone on the high seas, and no country has the right to interfere."
In the background, six destroyers and a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier lay across the sea. The voice of the American spokesperson rang out: "Any attempt to use force to expel them is tantamount to a declaration of war."
The comment section and live chat exploded. Anger, frustration, helplessness, and a mix of other emotions filled the air.
Li Yichen's expression gradually darkened.
My phone vibrated.
Caller ID: Chen Jianjun.
"Feed?"
"Xiao Li, you must have seen that video, right?" Chen Jianjun's voice was filled with anger and exhaustion. "What are your thoughts on it?"
Li Yichen remained silent for two seconds.
"The situation is now on the verge of spiraling out of control. Conventional forces are ineffective, and the cost of starting a war would be too high—I don't need to tell you this; those above understand this better than I do."
Chen Jianjun sighed.
"You're right. Great Xia is at a crucial stage of rapid development, and the higher-ups absolutely do not want to be held back by war." He paused. "Countless generals in the five war zones have requested to join the battle, but the higher-ups are holding back approvals. I thought of you during a break in the meeting, so I came to ask—you've got a lot of ideas, do you have any suggestions?"
Li Yichen stared at the arrogant island reef on his phone screen, his gaze as cold as a knife.
"Commander Chen, conventional methods are indeed not an option. But that doesn't mean we can't use unconventional methods."
Chen Jianjun was taken aback: "What do you mean?"
"As long as the higher-ups trust me, leave this matter to me." Li Yichen's voice was calm, yet it carried a chilling undertone. "Since they dare to put a knife to their throats—I'll just pull the knife out. And cripple the hand holding it too."
There was a full five seconds of silence on the other end of the phone.
Chen Jianjun's breathing quickened, his voice tightening: "Xiao Li, don't be impulsive. The Heavenly Soldier Armor can't be sent to the battlefield—once it's exposed, the situation will completely spiral out of control."
Li Yichen chuckled.
"Don't worry, no armor, no traceable materials. I have a cleaner way."
Chen Jianjun hesitated for a moment, then finally said only, "I'll go and discuss it with my superiors. Wait for my news."
The phone hangs up.
Li Yichen tossed his phone aside, leaned back on the sofa, and stared at the ceiling. Ling'er popped out of her watch and nestled on the back of his hand, her little face serious.
"Brother, what do you plan to do?"
Li Yichen remained silent.
An hour later, the phone rang again.
"Xiao Li, the higher-ups have discussed this." Chen Jianjun's tone became more serious. "I'll give you three days. If you can resolve this within three days, the country will owe you a tremendous favor. If you can't—the army will act according to the contingency plan."
Li Yichen looked out at the pitch-black night.
"Three days?"
He smiled and spoke so softly it was as if he were talking to himself.
"It won't take that long."
