Cry louder, I can't hear you.

Chapter 72 Miss Yun, may I kiss you?

Whether it was because she slept too much in the afternoon or because of Shen Suwei's words that night, Yun Qiao tossed and turned until midnight and couldn't fall asleep.

Feeling a bit irritated, she simply got out of bed, changed her clothes, and went out.

This is an island; no matter which direction you go, you'll eventually reach the beach.

At 2 a.m., there were hardly any people on the beach.

The sea was an endless expanse of black, with only the occasional flashing of navigation lights in the distance.

Yun Qiao walked along the beach alone for a while. Feeling a bit cold, she hesitated whether to go back. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she seemed to catch a glimpse of a dark shadow falling from the opposite reef.

Immediately afterwards, a very soft sound was heard.

It looked like something had fallen into the water.

It was muffled, but it was quickly drowned out by the sound of waves crashing against the rocks, so Yunqiao couldn't hear it very clearly.

Not sure if she was seeing things, Yun Qiao stopped and looked carefully in the direction of the sound.

Directly ahead, there was a rocky beach, but there were no lights nearby, and she was too far away to see clearly.

After hesitating for a moment, Yun Qiao still walked towards the rocky beach.

She circled around to the other side, fully prepared to encounter bad guys, and ready to redeem her 100 points.

She froze when she saw the silhouette of the person sitting behind the rocky beach.

"Shen Suwei?"

Shen Suwei was facing away from her, gazing at the dark sea, lost in thought.

Upon hearing the sound, he tilted his head slightly, as if trying to pinpoint the direction of the sound.

Yun Qiao climbed up and walked up to him. "What are you doing here?"

As if he had finally confirmed Yun Qiao's direction, he stared intently at her, "Let the wind blow."

Perhaps it was because it was too dark, but Yun Qiao felt that his eyes were unusually bright, with an eerie quality.

Recalling the dark figure she had just seen, Yun Qiao suppressed her unease and asked, "Did you hear anything just now?"

He tilted his head slightly, as if in confusion: "What was that sound?"

"Are you the only one here?"

He looked at her with an apologetic expression: "I'm sorry, I'm blind. If there's anyone nearby, I wouldn't be able to tell."

Yun Qiao frowned. This answer was not a problem.

but.

"I just saw a dark shadow fall down from where you are," Yun Qiao said tentatively, looking at him.

Trying to find a flaw in his expression.

But upon hearing this, he remained unfazed, pondered for a moment, and then calmly replied:

"Maybe the fishing rod I brought fell in."

"fishing rod?"

"Could you check if my fishing rod is still there?"

Yun Qiao looked down to look for something beside him, but there was nothing there except for him and his wheelchair.

"I don't have a fishing rod."

He sighed softly, "That's a real shame. I really liked that fishing rod; I never expected it to fall into the sea like that."

"..."

The light was too dim for Yun Qiao to see his expression clearly, but she felt that the direction of his face when he lowered his head was not quite right, as if he was trying to suppress something.

"You're fishing so late at night?"

"Um."

"Did you catch anything?"

"We caught one."

"Where?"

He didn't answer, his gaze shifting slightly as he stared intently at Yun Qiao. "Miss Yun, you've asked me so many questions. Have you decided to marry me?"

"?"

baffling.

Yun Qiao looked around. The reef had been artificially modified. There was a path leading up, but it was quite high and steep. How did he, with a limp, manage to get up there?

"How did you get up here?"

"Xiang Lin pushed me up."

Xiang Lin was the man who was with him this afternoon.

"And what about him?"

"He has something to take care of."

Yun Qiao frowned. Was there something else she needed to deal with?

His job is just to take care of the boss, what else is there to handle?

There's no one here, so aren't they afraid Shen Suwei will fall?

"Miss Yun, you've come at the right time. Could you please help me push the cart down?"

He smiled and "looked" at Yun Qiao.

Yun Qiao glanced at him silently for a moment, then walked behind him and grasped the handle of the wheelchair.

I pushed it, but it wouldn't budge.

She looked down and saw that a wheel was stuck in a crevice in the rocks.

"Wait a moment."

"Okay," he replied softly.

Yun Qiao crouched down, intending to lift the wheel. But fearing she might tip Shen Suwei over, she looked up at him, "Could you stand up a little?"

He seemed surprised, then looked dejected, lowering his eyes, "Miss Yun is joking."

Yun Qiao was so preoccupied with the wheelchair that she hadn't gotten used to Shen Suwei's limp. Only when he mentioned it did she realize how presumptuous she had been, and she awkwardly and guiltily tried to make amends:

"Your wheelchair is stuck in the gap. Can I help you sit on the rocks first, and then help you back to your seat after I pull the wheelchair out?"

"This is really too much trouble for you." He said in a gentle tone, without the slightest hint of displeasure at being offended.

Yun Qiao stood up and leaned closer to him, but her hand remained frozen in mid-air for a long time, not knowing where to start.

She definitely couldn't carry Shen Suwei in a princess carry.

"Could you... could you put your hand on my shoulder and lean on me to get up?"

"it is good."

Shen Suwei obediently raised his hand, but his hand moved hesitantly, as if he couldn't find the right direction.

Yun Qiao had no choice but to reach out and take his hand, then hang his hand around her neck.

She was so focused on helping him up that she didn't notice the slight upturn of his lips when she took his hand, nor did she notice how his thumb gently rubbed against her neck as she helped him to the rocky beach.

After Yun Qiao placed him down, she quickly pulled out the stuck wheel.

As she helped him back into his wheelchair and was about to let go, she suddenly heard him whisper:

"Miss Yun smells wonderful, do you wear any perfume?"

Yun Qiao's body suddenly stiffened. When she came to her senses, she almost instinctively pushed him away and tried to stand up straight, but his hand was still wrapped around her neck and hadn't let go.

"Let go!" Yun Qiao said angrily.

"If you loosen your grip, will you leave me here alone and run away?"

"If you don't say anything nonsensical, I won't abandon you."

"What's with these strange words?" He raised his head slightly, his unfocused eyes fixed on her. "Is it because I just said you smelled nice?"

"But I'm telling the truth."

Yun Qiao was almost laughing in anger:

"Does Mr. Shen believe that as long as it's the truth, you can say anything, no matter how impolite?"

He slightly curved his lips into a smile. "Of course not, but I don't think it's presumptuous of me to say that. After all..."

"If I may be so bold, I haven't said it yet."

Yun Qiao remained noncommittal; this person was simply making excuses.

This isn't offensive?

"Then what do you consider to be presumptuous?"

I want to kiss you.

"...What?"

Yun Qiao wondered if there was something wrong with her ears. She stood there, the sea breeze blowing from the side, messing up her hair. She didn't bother to brush it aside, but just stared blankly at him.

"Didn't you ask me something presumptuous?" Shen Suwei's expression was calm, but his tone carried a hint of nonchalance. "The first time I met Miss Yun, I wanted to kiss you."

"Miss Yun, may I kiss you?"

Because we were so close, when I said those words, my breath almost mingled with hers.

Yun Qiao remained stunned for a long time before suddenly jolting awake.

She forcefully pried Shen Suwei's hand away, and after standing still, she couldn't help but raise her hand and slap him.

With a soft "smack," the sound was barely audible amidst the noisy waves, but Shen Suwei's head was slightly knocked to the side.

He remained motionless in the position where he had missed, and said leisurely:

"See, you told me to say it, and I did, and now you're angry again."

"...Mr. Shen, I don't think you have a problem with your eyes and legs, you have a problem with your brain!"

Yun Qiao turned around and wanted to run, but after a few steps, she remembered that he was still on the reef.

She stormed back, pushed him off the rocks onto the flat sand, and only let go after making sure he wouldn't fall into the sea. Then she ran away without looking back.

Shen Suwei sat in his wheelchair and chuckled softly.

She's really soft-hearted...

He watched her retreating figure, his gaze, which had been blank, gentle, and apologetic just moments before, now filled with a deep, intense intensity.

Before leaving, he glanced back at the now silent sea behind him, a mocking smile playing on his lips.

This fishing rod is quite useful, but it's also quite an eyesore.
