In name only: The land of Handong, I shall rule its fate.

"Your anti-corruption bureau is looking for me?"

Wearing sunglasses and carrying a small bag, Ouyang Jing walked into a quiet coffee shop with small steps.

Hou Liangping and Lu Yike exchanged a glance, both sensing that something was amiss.

Her demeanor was so calm, as if she had known all along that they would come looking for her.

"Yes."

Hou Liangping extended his hand. "Ms. Ouyang, we have some questions about your tenure."

Ouyang Jing took off her sunglasses, glanced at Hou Liangping's outstretched hand, didn't shake it, and sat down in front of the two of them on her own.

"My departure audit only took a few days."

Ouyang Jing retorted, "The fact that your anti-corruption bureau sent people here shows a lack of trust in the audit department? Or a lack of trust in Jingzhou Bank and the provincial financial branch?"

The first thing they did was put a hat on his head.

really…

Hou Liangping understood; the other party had indeed made preparations.

"A departure audit is a departure audit."

Hou Liangping refused to accept this huge accusation and stated directly, "We are talking to you now because we have obtained new clues."

"Ms. Ouyang, according to the information verified by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, your daughter Li Jiajia was studying in Lighthouse, and only recently dropped out and returned to China."

"yes!"

Ouyang Jing ordered a coffee and slowly stirred it with her spoon. "So, what's wrong?"

"Studying abroad at your own expense in Lighthouse is not cheap."

Hou Liangping continued, "The tuition and living expenses for four years of undergraduate studies will be at least 30 to 40 yuan. We've done the math, and it's not enough to cover your and Secretary Li's salaries, as well as your own expenses."

"and then?"

Ouyang Jing's lips tightened involuntarily. She stopped stirring with the spoon, looked up, and met his gaze.

"The Anti-Corruption Bureau received a tip that Wang Dalu of Dalu Group has been supporting Li Jiajia's expenses for a long time, and that you yourself have also been living in a luxury villa provided by Wang Dalu for a long time."

"at the same time."

"The Anti-Corruption Bureau compared the promotion trajectories of Dalu Group and Secretary Li and found that the two were highly overlapping, from Jinshan County to Lüzhou, and finally the group's headquarters were located in Jingzhou."

"So many coincidences."

"We have to suspect whether there is a conflict of interest between Wang Dalu and Secretary Li, and that you, Ms. Ouyang, are the one who exchanged interests in between."

clap clap!

Ouyang Jing clapped lightly. "As expected of an elite member of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, your eyes are sharp and your insight is keen, but I don't intend to answer your question."

"Ms. Ouyang!"

Lu Yike frowned, her voice rising a few decibels from her previous low tone, "This is blatant resistance to investigation. If you don't want to talk here, we can take you back to the procuratorate."

"Oh!"

Ouyang Jing scoffed dismissively, "What's wrong with my daughter studying abroad! Is it illegal? Are my daughter the only daughter of a cadre in Handong Province, or the child of a member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, to go abroad?"

"Director Hou, isn't your mentor Gao Yuliang's daughter, and also your cousin, Director Lu, Gao Fangfang, also at the Lighthouse?"

"She has been studying abroad for much longer than my Jiajia, from her undergraduate degree to her current doctorate, more than ten years of her life abroad."

"Before investigating others, first investigate your own family affairs."

Ouyang Jing glared fiercely at the two people in front of her, like a mother wolf protecting her cubs.

"snort!"

"My cousin is a top student. She received scholarships every year during her undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies, and she even sent $10 back home. Your daughter can't compare to her."

Lu Yike laughed.

"Oh!"

Ouyang Jing stood her ground, "Who told you she gets a scholarship every year! Your Uncle Gao? Or your Aunt Wu, the great professor?"

"It's okay to fool others, but don't fool yourself too."

"Gao Fangfang has two parents who are professors. She had good grades since she was a child, but she was more interested in the arts and wanted to be a singer; she was good, but only among her peers in the arts."

"And I'm telling you!"

"When she was in her second year of high school, she fell in love with a senior who tutored her every day, but he rejected her, and she was heartbroken for a long time because of it."

"Even going abroad was because of this heartbreak."

"And do you know how difficult it is for an art student to suddenly switch to an unfamiliar major like biology?"

"I don't deny that she is indeed capable and driven, but like Jiajia, she attended a private public university for her undergraduate studies."

"Tuition and living expenses amount to around 30 yuan per year."

"At that time, Secretary Gao was only the secretary of the Luzhou Municipal Party Committee and had not yet joined the Standing Committee. Wu Huifen was only an associate professor. Their combined annual salary was 100,000 yuan."

"Go and find out where the 4 yuan shortfall for four years of undergraduate studies came from."

"Let's talk about my business next."

Ouyang Jing stopped drinking her coffee, grabbed her bag, and stood up. "Heh, Hou Liangping, is that right?"

"You think you can get me with this little problem? Take a look at yourself first! A lackey who entered the family by becoming a son-in-law dares to question my master Li's conduct as an official and to use me to investigate his integrity."

"Are you worthy?!"

"Call Zhong Xiaoai and ask her father, Zhong Mingde, if he dares to, or even has the guts to, investigate this matter."

"As long as you dare to investigate."

"I laid out all the details of Jiajia's tuition fees in front of you, the director, and also reported dozens or even hundreds of similar cases to you."

"I'll let you investigate to your heart's content!"

The sound of Ouyang Jing's high heels clicking on the ground rang clearly in their ears.

Kara!

The shop door was suddenly pulled open.

"I know you must have gone to the mainland. The mainland also has an organizational background and knows the laws and regulations best. They will cooperate with reasonable interrogations and investigations. However, if your provincial anti-corruption bureau uses interrogation and forced confessions, it will affect the normal operation of Dalu Group."

Ouyang Jing stopped in her tracks, turned around and warned Hou Liangping and Lu Yike, "I, Ouyang Jing, will report you to the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and the higher-level Commission for Discipline Inspection by my real name for abusing your power and excluding dissidents."

boom!

The shop door was closed again, and the person had disappeared.

Hou and Lu remained seated, stunned and bewildered by the series of news Ouyang Jing had delivered.

The investigation into Ouyang Jing unexpectedly uncovered potential problems with Gao Yuliang.

No! There was more than one Gao Yuliang!

Even Gao Yuliang was practically invisible among that group.

Hou Liangping, who was usually full of confidence, turned pale. Even the anger he felt when he was called a live-in son-in-law of the Zhong family was not as great as the fear he felt now.

Limited to this year.

Going back twenty years, it was all about the craze for studying abroad, with the number of people going overseas to study...

The tens or hundreds that Ouyang Jing mentioned didn't even reach the last digit.

As long as he dares to investigate this lead further.

The Zhong family is ready to die to prove him wrong!

This is even more terrifying than Zhao Dehan's account book, and unlike the last time, this time he jumped in on his own initiative.

Lu Yike was also a little flustered, but her mind was full of the seriousness of her aunt and cousin possibly being involved. She didn't even have time to think about her uncle, let alone anyone else.

After calming down a bit.

Lu Yike asked, "Director Hou, shall we continue the investigation?"
