Chapter 20: Gear Ready, Master All Weapons to the Max!
Ah Kai was smoking by the door when he saw the car stop. He quickly threw down his cigarette butt and came over.
"Brother, you've arrived."
Chen Mo got out of the car and glanced around.
The alley was very narrow, with high walls on both sides, and only one entrance and exit.
Brother Long's choice of this location for delivery makes his intentions quite clear.
It's his territory, and he calls the shots.
"Is Brother Long inside?"
"Yes, I'm here, waiting for you."
Akai opened the iron gate and stepped aside to let Chen Mo in.
The warehouse was large, filled with wooden crates and oil drums, illuminated by several fluorescent lights overhead, reflecting the oil stains on the ground.
Brother Long stood behind a long table in the middle, on which sat a black canvas bag.
Four bodyguards stood behind him, twice as many as last time, their hands behind their backs, their waists bulging.
Brother Long saw Chen Mo, smiled, and reached out his hand: "Boss Chen, right on time."
Chen Mo shook hands with him.
This time, Brother Long didn't use much force; he just gripped it briefly before letting go, but his eyes kept scanning Chen Mo, as if he were valuing something.
"The goods are on the table."
Brother Long patted the canvas bag.
"M249, US military original, 200-round ammunition belt, with three boxes of ammunition. Want to inspect it?"
Chen Mo walked to the table and opened the canvas bag.
An M249 machine gun lay inside, its body jet black, with the ammunition belt wrapped around it and each bullet gleaming.
He picked up the gun and weighed it in his hand.
It weighs a little over eight kilograms and feels solid.
This is the real deal, not just pixelated data from a game. It's cold, heavy iron that can kill with a single pull of the trigger.
With my palm pressed against the gun, I could feel the coldness of the metal seeping into my skin, and my heart skipped a beat.
This thing delivers a more powerful impact than a pistol.
"lamp."
Ah Kai quickly moved a work light over.
Chen Mo placed the gun on the table and began to disassemble it.
Stock, receiver, barrel, recoil spring.
The parts were stacked on the table one by one, the movement so fast that Akai couldn't keep up with it.
Brother Long narrowed his eyes and didn't say anything.
After dismantling the equipment, Chen Mo stopped and glanced at Brother Long: "Bullets."
Akai brought over a box of bullets and opened it.
Chen Mo picked one up and twirled it under the light. The bullet was smooth, the primer was intact, and the copper casing was free of scratches.
He put down the bullets and began assembling them.
The clanging of metal echoed through the warehouse, each strike crisp and clean.
Finally, pull the bolt back once, and with a click, it's in position.
The entire process lasted forty-seven seconds.
The bodyguards behind Brother Long exchanged glances, but no one spoke.
Ah Kai's mouth was open, and he couldn't close it for a long time.
Chen Mo put down the gun and looked at Brother Long.
"The stuff is good."
Brother Long was silent for two seconds, then suddenly laughed, the sound echoing through the warehouse.
He turned to look at Kai: "Look at him. You've been handling guns for so many years, how long does it take you to disassemble and reassemble them?"
Ah Kai scratched his head, not daring to reply.
Brother Long turned back, took something out of his pocket, and placed it on the table.
It's a muffler, a size larger than the last one, and much more finely made.
"This is for you."
Brother Long said, "It's a German product, genuine, not some homemade junk. It's a perfect match for this gun."
Chen Mo picked it up and examined it. The threads matched, and the weight was just right. He looked up at Brother Long and said, "Thanks."
"What are you thanking me for?"
Brother Long patted him on the shoulder, and this time it was a genuine smile.
"Even good things need someone to appreciate them. Your skills are far superior to those of us useless folks."
He turned around, took a bullet out of his pocket, and placed it on the table.
The bullet was polished to a shine, and there were marks of the firing pin on the primer, indicating that it was a used bullet.
"Want to give it a try?"
Brother Long pointed to the depths of the warehouse, "There's an iron barrel by the wall over there, about fifty meters away."
Chen Mo glanced at him.
Brother Long had a smile on his face, but his eyes didn't look like he was joking.
He picked up the gun, loaded the ammunition belt, and cocked it.
The movements were neither too fast nor too slow, and each step was steady.
The moment the rifle butt touched his shoulder, he took a deep breath.
Walk to the firing position, kneel on one knee, and place the butt of the rifle against your shoulder.
Brother Long and his four bodyguards stood still, while Ah Kai took two steps back.
Chen Mo didn't look at the iron bucket.
He closed his eyes and felt the wind blowing from the left, passing through the warehouse door, carrying the heat wave from outside.
The location of the iron bucket was imprinted in his mind: fifty meters away.
He opened his eyes, adjusted the angle, and put his finger on the trigger.
"Bang."
The sound wasn't loud; the muffler swallowed most of the noise, leaving only a muffled thud and the echo of metal colliding.
A heavy "thump" came from the other side of the metal bucket, followed by a series of clattering sounds.
The bullet went in and bounced several times inside the barrel before stopping.
Ah Kai ran over and took a look, then turned around, his face pale: "I...I went through it. In from the front, out from the back."
Brother Long stared at Chen Mo for several seconds, then burst into laughter, took something out of his pocket, and threw it on the table.
The box of bullets was much smaller than the previous one, but the packaging was exquisite, and it was all in English.
"Armor-piercing rounds. One hundred rounds, for you."
Chen Mo picked up the box, glanced at it, and stuffed it into his pocket. "Brother Long, you're too kind."
Brother Long stopped laughing and looked at him seriously. "Young man, if you need any goods in the future, you can come to me again."
"OK."
Chen Mo disassembled the M249 and put it back into the canvas bag.
Brother Long waved for his bodyguards to load the three boxes of bullets into the car.
Ah Kai ran around, stuffing everything into the trunk of the taxi.
Chen Mo shook hands with Brother Long and turned to walk out.
"Wait a moment."
Brother Long called out to him.
Chen Mo turned around.
Brother Long picked up the bullet that had pierced the iron barrel from the table and threw it over.
Chen Mo caught it; the bullet was still warm, and its surface was scratched by the iron barrel.
"Keep this as a souvenir."
Brother Long said, "From now on, we'll be friends when we meet."
Chen Mo put the bullet in his pocket, nodded, and walked out of the warehouse.
The taxi's trunk was packed full.
The car drove out of the alley and onto the main road.
Chen Mo leaned back in his chair and touched the bronze ring on the ring finger of his left hand.
Have the driver park on a deserted side of the road and put all the items in the trunk into the copper ring.
The phone rang.
Lin Yue sent a message: "Brother Mo, where are you? There are a lot of people at the hotel entrance. Be careful when you come back."
Chen Mo replied, "We're almost there."
I hailed another taxi, and as the car turned onto the street where the hotel was located, I could see a group of people gathered at the entrance from afar.
It wasn't just the two or three people who had been staking out the place before, but more than a dozen. Some were holding up cell phones, some were setting up tripods, and some were carrying video cameras.
The flashes of light were deafening; you could see the white light flashing from across the street.
A taxi was parked at the door.
Chen Mo pushed open the car door, and before he could even stand up properly, a scream erupted.
"Ahhh, he's here!"
"That's him! That's him! The one from TikTok!"
"husband!!!"
The crowd surged forward like a tide, phones held high above their heads, cameras pointed densely at him, flashes raining down on him, a blinding white light that made it impossible to open his eyes.
A girl in a tank top pushed her way to the front, her face flushed with excitement, and she almost shoved her phone into Chen Mo's face.
"Hey handsome! Are you single? Do you have a girlfriend?"
Another girl next to her shouted at the top of her lungs, "What's your TikTok name?! I want to follow you!"
Someone else jumped up and waved, shouting, "Look over here! Look over here!"
Chen Mo stood still, waited for them to finish shouting, and then smiled.
He raised his hand and pressed it down, as if to soothe a group of excited children:
"Stop, stop, let me say something."
The crowd fell silent for a second, but the flashbulbs were still going off.
"Everyone, this puts a lot of pressure on me."
He spread his hands, his tone relaxed, as if chatting with a friend.
"I'm just an ordinary person, and I'm not particularly good-looking. With such a big entourage, I'm embarrassed to even go out."
A girl shouted, "What are you being modest about! You're super handsome!"
Chen Mo glanced at her, then shook his head with a smile:
"Can being handsome feed you? I'm almost starving, and you guys are still blocking my way here."
Someone burst out laughing.
The atmosphere eased a bit, but the crowd didn't disperse; people were still holding their phones.
"Seriously."
Chen Mo's tone became serious.
"Go do what you need to do and don't waste your time on me. I'm just an ordinary person, not worth all this trouble."
Go to work when you need to go to work, travel when you need to travel, and sleep when you need to sleep. There are plenty of good-looking people on Douyin; if you see someone good-looking, give them a like; if you don't, don't worry about it.
He glanced around, his gaze settling on the girls at the front, and smiled.
"Everyone, go home. It's late, go back and get some rest. Don't stay up late scrolling on your phones. Do you hear me?"
The girls exchanged glances and smiled a little shyly.
Some people put away their phones, while others took a step back.
The girl in the tank top was about to say something when someone next to her pulled her back.
Chen Mo nodded to them and turned to walk into the hotel.
There was silence for a few seconds behind me, then someone whispered:
"He has such a good temper..."
"He's right, we have indeed gone a bit too far."
Lin Yue appeared out of nowhere and followed behind Chen Mo, lowering his voice:
"Brother Mo, what you just said made those girls feel embarrassed."
I'm checking out tonight and moving to another place. I'll help you make money; I won't be available for the next few days.
