The hospital is too busy, so I'm going to join the army and become a top soldier!

(Two chapters today, one more coming later!)

The next morning.

The elite platoons returned to the mountain training area.

Unlike yesterday, the squads of the elite unit did not rush into the mountainous area today.

Instead, they all gathered around the drone control terminal.

Chen Gang stood at the front of the line and glanced at everyone.

"In yesterday's reconnaissance exercise, the third squad suffered a crushing defeat."

"They were wiped out by the entire class!"

The faces of everyone in Class 3 immediately darkened.

Company commander, just keep talking about training.

Why drag us out and whip our corpses?

That's outrageous!

Ignoring the resentful looks from the students in Class Three, Chen Gang continued, "

"However, suffering a loss this time may not necessarily be a bad thing."

"Drones have already begun to be deployed in the military, and in future formal exercises, our adversaries may also have aerial reconnaissance equipment."

"If we only know how to defend against ground-based reconnaissance personnel, but not about defending against drones in the sky."

"Isn't that just sticking your heads out and waiting for the enemy to call you out one by one?"

"Take yesterday as an example. Class One has already discovered all of your whereabouts, so what you're going to face next is a carpet bombing!"

"Tell me, who could survive such intense artillery bombardment?"

After that, no one in Class 3 expressed any further dissatisfaction.

As top-notch scouts, they all knew the consequences of being discovered by the enemy!

At this point, Chen Gang pointed to Shen Yan, who was standing next to him.

"Starting today, our company will add a two-week training program focusing on basic drone knowledge and counter-aerial reconnaissance camouflage!"

"Shen Yan is responsible for teaching each class!"

As soon as Chen Gang finished speaking, Shen Yan stepped forward and saluted everyone.

"My name is Shen Yan, I'm a private in Class 1! Please take good care of me!"

All eyes turned to Shen Yan.

A private, standing at the front of the column, is about to give a lecture to a group of veterans?

This scene looks rather strange no matter how you look at it.

After yesterday's reconnaissance exercise, everyone felt there were no problems.

They had already heard about Shen Yan's deeds from Chen Gang.

The fact that we ranked first in the entire regiment's technical backbone training speaks for itself!

In yesterday's practical exercise, Shen Yan didn't even go up the mountain, yet he managed to find Class 3 completely clean!

And I even broke a record along the way!

If anyone is still not convinced, they can go and break the record of 18 minutes and 47 seconds first!

Wei Shanjia stood in the crowd and sighed softly:

"After a week of training, you can come back and immediately start working as an instructor with your certificate."

"At this rate of development, in a few months, will we have to call him Chief Shen?"

Ga Wa thought about it seriously for a moment, then nodded silently.

"Hey friend, don't worry!"

"At Shen Yan's rate of progress, he might become a leader in a few months."

"But at your rate of progress, in a few months, you'll probably still be Wei Shanjia!"

Wei Shanjia: "..."

Why do those words sound so hurtful?

He and Shen Yan both graduated from the same school.

Why is Shen Yan's lumbar disc so protruding?

When Luo Zhiyong heard the two of them start acting silly again, he turned around and glared at them.

"Shut up!"

"Listen carefully!"

The two immediately stood up straight.

Yesterday, those two were in jail for the entire afternoon because of their sharp tongues!

My legs are numb from squatting!

Shen Yan didn't start by talking about the complicated equipment parameters, but instead pulled up the drone's video feed from yesterday.

"Let's start by reviewing yesterday's training."

"Let's take a look from the air at how yesterday's third shift was exposed!"

Upon hearing this, the faces of the students in Class 3 turned even uglier.

really.

They are destined to face this beating on their corpses today!

Shen Yan paused the video and zoomed in on the camouflaged location of the armored vehicle.

"From the ground, the armored vehicles' camouflage doesn't seem to be a major problem."

"The camouflage netting blends in almost perfectly with the surrounding vegetation, making it difficult to discern its complete outline when viewed from the front."

"But from the air, the edges of the camouflage net are too straight, making it stand out from the surrounding natural terrain."

"And here too."

Shen Yan moved the camera, pointing to the side and rear of the armored vehicle.

"After the tracks pass over the ground, the vegetation is crushed."

"Although the third shift did some basic work, they did not completely eliminate the continuous traces."

"Drones don't necessarily need to see armored vehicles directly."

"Following these traces, we can also find our target."

The soldiers in the third squad responsible for camouflaging the armored vehicles watched the screen intently.

Yesterday, all they knew was that they had been found.

Looking back now, I realize how obvious the problems I exposed were from an aerial perspective!

The straight lines and track marks that were invisible on the ground were almost all exposed in the air!

Shen Yan continued to switch scenes.

The cables at the communication point, the neatly fallen weeds near the supply crates, and half a military boot peeking out from behind the bushes.

One question after another, he pointed them all out!

When everyone saw the half-boot, they couldn't help but burst out laughing!

The veteran from the third squad turned pale on the spot.

"What are you laughing at?"

"So what if her heels are showing a little?"

Wei Shanjia couldn't help but say:

"Hey, class monitor, you've been hiding yourself pretty well."

"The main problem is that the shoes aren't cooperating with you!"

"Maybe it felt too stuffy hiding there for so long and wanted to come out for some fresh air!"

The laughter around them grew even louder.

The veteran glared fiercely at Wei Shanjia.

"You little brat, I'll remember you! You better not let me catch you during training again!"

Upon hearing this, Wei Shanjia immediately shut up.

Shen Yan suppressed a laugh and switched to the next scene.

"This class monitor hid it very well at first."

"When the drone first flew by, it did not fully confirm the target."

"What really exposed him was that after he heard the sound of the rotor, he looked up and observed it once."

In the footage, the veteran hidden under the tree moved slightly.

The movements were actually very small.

But since the surrounding environment was completely still, his movement was like adding a close-up shot to the picture.

Ga Wa couldn't help but sigh:

"Hey friend, the drone was about to leave anyway."

"You were worried Shen Yan wouldn't see it, so you deliberately looked up for a close-up!"

The veteran: "..."

How come I never noticed before that these two new recruits in Class 1 have such annoying mouths?

Shen Yan turned off the replay and said seriously:

"Aerial reconnaissance and ground reconnaissance have different perspectives."

"To combat drones, you can't just cover your body."

"Regular outlines, ground marks, reflective objects, equipment cables, and unnecessary personnel movement can all reveal the location."

"In addition, we should make full use of the terrain."

"The shadows of rocks, ravines, and tree canopies can all help block the view from the air."

"But a disguise can't just appear out of thin air."

"The surrounding area is full of low weeds, but you insist on building a haystack as tall as a person."

"Even if the drone can't see anyone inside, it will still suspect something's wrong with that haystack!"

Someone in the group couldn't help but nod in agreement.

These principles don't sound complicated.

However, without actually observing from the air, it's difficult to realize what problems exist with one's disguise!

After the explanation, Chen Gang immediately announced the start of the practical exercise.

Each class selected personnel to hide people and simulation equipment in a designated area.

The rest of the team stayed at the foot of the mountain and observed the search process through the transmitted video feed.

Shen Yan does not check the arrangements for any class in advance.

After the hidden personnel completed their disguise, he then controlled the drone to conduct the search.

The first class to be inspected was Class Two.

Shortly after the drone entered the designated area, a patch of bushes appeared in the footage.

From the front, there is nothing unusual behind the bushes.

Shen Yan did not fly away immediately.

Because amidst a patch of naturally growing branches and leaves, a black antenna stood there all alone.

Shen Yan zooms in on the image.

"Simulated communication point detected."

"The location is behind the bushes on the southeast side."

The students in Class Two fell silent for a moment.

The veteran in charge of setting up the communication point couldn't help but slap his forehead.

They hid the main unit and connecting cables very well.

The only thing I forgot about was the antenna!

Someone nearby whispered:

"This antenna stands upright."

"They're afraid the drones in the sky won't know there's communication equipment below."

The class monitor of Class Two turned pale.

"When you get back, get me a tree branch to hold on to my head while I stand at attention!"

"When you learn how to hide the antenna, that's when you'll put it down!"

When it was Class Four's turn, Shen Yan also didn't need much time.

To conceal a soldier, the fourth squad covered him with a large amount of weeds and dead branches.

Judging from the camouflage materials and colors alone, there are no obvious problems.

The problem is that the surrounding ground is quite flat.

There, an oval-shaped mound of earth suddenly rises up!

When the drone flew overhead, the mound looked like a pimple on a bald head!

It's hard not to attract attention!

Shen Yan didn't even lower the altitude before marking the location.

The class monitor of Class 4 remained silent for two seconds.

"When you get back, redo the disguise ten times!"

"Whoever builds another grave on flat ground, I'll bury them in it!"

Soon it was the turn of Class One.

In order to prove himself, Wei Shanjia volunteered to participate in the deception setup.

He spent half a day tinkering in the mountains, hiding the simulation equipment behind a rock.

They even deliberately created several sets of footprints, leading the trail to another bush.

After finishing the setup, he returned to the foot of the mountain, his face full of confidence.

"This time it's a sure thing!"

"Even if Shen Yan can find the equipment, he'll first be fooled by the fake traces I've set up!"

Looking at the mud clinging to the soles of his shoes, Ga Wa couldn't help but ask:

"Where did your footprints start?"

"Of course, we'll start with where the equipment is hidden!"

After Wei Shanjia finished speaking, he suddenly felt that something was wrong.

Ga Wa looked at him with pity.

"Hey friend."

"Isn't this what you call fake traces?"

"You were worried that Shen Yan wouldn't be able to find it, so you specially built a road for him next to the equipment."

Wei Shanjia: "..."

broken!

It seems I only considered where the footprints would lead people.

Even if you forget Shen Yan, you can still find him by following the footprints in reverse!

After the drone entered the deployment area, it quickly discovered the obvious set of footprints.

Shen Yan did not follow the footprints forward, but instead looked back along the tracks.

In less than two minutes, the simulation equipment hidden behind the rocks appeared on the screen.

Wei Shanjia's face fell immediately.

The people around burst into laughter.

"Wei Shanjia, your disguise is quite good!"

"They even paved the way for Teacher Shen so he wouldn't strain his eyes!"

"Next time, put up a sign that says 'The target is here,' and maybe that will actually fool Instructor Shen!"

Wei Shanjia covered his face, no longer wanting to speak.

I worked hard for half an hour.

The biggest benefit of the result is that it helps Shen Yan save search time.

Ga Wa patted him on the shoulder.

"Hey friend, it's okay."

"It's normal for someone to lack experience and reveal their true feelings early on their first time on the battlefield!"

"Get lost, I can last a long time!"

……

After the disguised targets of the previous classes were discovered one after another, it was finally the turn of Class Three.

Yesterday's crushing defeat left everyone in Class 3 seething with anger.

Especially those veterans who were publicly named by Shen Yan.

This time, they not only carefully handled the traces of people entering and leaving.

They also used natural ravines and rock shadows to conceal targets, completely dismantling the edges of the camouflage net.

To confuse the judgment, they also deliberately left a few traces of activity on the other side.

After the drone entered the training area, Shen Yan quickly discovered those traces.

However, he did not rush to conclusions.

The traces appear natural, but they do not lead to any suitable location for observation.

If the hidden personnel of the third squad were indeed hiding there, their view would be completely blocked by the rocks in front.

People can indeed hide.

If you can't see anything, what's the point of hiding there?

Shen Yan quickly changed the direction of his search, starting to check several locations where he could observe the main road while avoiding aerial views.

One minute.

three minutes.

five minutes.

The target never appeared.

As the students in Class 3 watched the constantly changing transmitted images, their breathing became tense.

Even if they are eventually found, as long as it takes Shen Yan a little more time, it means they didn't suffer the scolding they received yesterday for nothing!

Shen Yan adjusted his observation direction several times.

It wasn't until the drone passed diagonally behind a rock that a small area appeared at the edge of the image, its color slightly different from the surrounding area.

He lowered his altitude and observed the area from the side again.

Beneath the rock, a soldier from the third squad almost completely shrank into the shadows.

The camouflage on his body blended seamlessly with the rubble.

There were no obvious footprints or unnecessary movement around.

If Shen Yan hadn't already ruled out several other observation points, they might not have been able to discover it so quickly!

"First hidden person found."

Upon hearing Shen Yan's report, the students of Class 3 were not disappointed; instead, smiles appeared on their faces.

More than seven minutes!

It took Shen Yan more than seven minutes to find the first person.

Compared to yesterday when all the targets were found in less than twenty minutes, the progress is quite obvious!

The two subsequent targets were also found, but the entire search process took more than twenty minutes.

The fake traces set up by the third shift successfully caused the drone to conduct an ineffective search.

After training, Chen Gang did not criticize Class 3; instead, he praised them in front of everyone:

"Class 3 did a great job this time!"

"You need to understand that counter-surveillance training is not about proving that you will never be found."

"Instead, we should delay the enemy's discovery of the target as much as possible, increasing the difficulty for them to make a judgment and buying time for subsequent actions!"

"They were discovered as well."

"Being discovered within one minute has completely different consequences than being discovered half an hour later!"

The students in Class 3 stood up straight.

"yes!"

The veteran who had shown off his heels yesterday looked at Shen Yan and couldn't help but ask:

"Instructor Shen."

"What other obvious problems do we have this time?"

Shen Yan paused.

This veteran had served in the military for many more years than I did.

Now they're actually calling me Instructor Shen?

This feeling is really quite strange.

Seeing the other person's earnest expression of seeking advice, Shen Yan didn't dwell on the issue of how to address them.

"You handled it very well overall."

"The main problem is the lack of connection between the observation points."

"If one location is exposed, it will be difficult for the other two locations to obtain information in a timely manner."

"Next time, we can consider how to pass simple signals between people without increasing the risk of exposure."

The veteran nodded seriously and wrote down Shen Yan's words.

Soldiers from other platoons also gathered around, asking about the problems with their disguises.

Yesterday, Shen Yan was just a private who broke a record with a drone.

Today, he has become a recognized drone instructor in the entire company!

Just then, a system notification appeared in Shen Yan's mind.

[Host has completed the tutorial on anti-aerial reconnaissance camouflage!]

[Related skills are beginning to contribute to medical skills!]

[Wildlife drone rescue and search capabilities improved to proficiency!]

A wealth of relevant knowledge about medical drone search and rescue quickly flooded Shen Yan's mind!

As Shen Yan absorbed the knowledge about search and rescue, he couldn't help but start thinking.

"If only I had mastered this skill during the disaster relief efforts a few days ago."

"Then I can save even more people, right?"
