The hospital is too busy, so I'm going to join the army and become a top soldier!

A month later.

The last temporary resettlement site in the disaster area has been disinfected, and all the remaining injured have been re-examined and transferred.

On the school playground, the medical tents that had been with everyone for more than a month were finally all dismantled.

All the medicines were packed into boxes, and the medical equipment was being inventoried one by one.

The temporary electrical wires and lighting equipment that had been laid were also taken back one by one.

As the last supply truck closed its doors, Zheng Guoliang finally announced:

"The medical support mission in the disaster area has been completed!"

"Pack your belongings and get ready to rejoin the team!"

The moment the words were spoken, the soldiers in the medical unit almost cheered on the spot.

More than a month!

More than a month!

They sleep in tents, eat boxed meals, make rounds and change dressings during the day, take turns on duty at night, and have to get up at any time in case of emergencies.

During the worst period, several medics didn't get a full night's sleep for three consecutive days!

Now I can finally go back to my unit!

"Finally, I can go back and take a shower!"

"I feel like mushrooms are about to sprout all over me; I could collect enough to cook in the mess hall in two days!"

"Forget about taking a shower, all I want to do right now is hug my dorm bed, kiss it a couple of times, and then have a good night's sleep!"

……

The medics, who had just looked exhausted, suddenly became energetic.

Zheng Guoliang glared at everyone.

"The information hasn't even been fully verified yet, what's all this excitement about?"

"If we're missing even one piece of equipment, nobody's leaving today!"

The smiles on everyone's faces vanished instantly, and they could only continue working.

Shen Yan is checking the last batch of wounded registration forms.

For the past month, he has been busy both at the front-line temporary medical point and in the rear resettlement area.

Emergency treatment, transportation, dressing changes, rounds, epidemic prevention, disinfection...

I've participated in almost every job.

Now that his mission is finally over, it's time for him to return to the recruit training camp.

However, judging by the time, there are only three days left until the graduation assessment of the recruit training camp.

Shen Yangang handed the registration form to the sanitation worker, and Zheng Guoliang walked over with his hands behind his back.

"Shen Yan".

"Zheng Lian".

Shen Yan stood at attention and saluted.

Zheng Guoliang looked him up and down a few times, and a hint of guilt suddenly appeared on his face.

"I kept you in the disaster area for too long this time."

"I was thinking of asking you to help out for a few more days because we were short-handed."

I never imagined that post-disaster resettlement and epidemic prevention work would drag on for so long. It feels like just yesterday your recruit training was about to end.

"All things considered, you've missed at least a month of regular training."

At this point, Zheng Guoliang let out a heavy sigh.

His expression was one of utter self-reproach.

Shen Yan was genuinely touched at first.

Although Lao Zheng usually likes to poach talent from others, he is actually quite good to him when it matters.

But then, Zheng Guoliang patted him on the shoulder and said earnestly:

"But you don't need to worry too much."

"A poor performance in the graduation assessment doesn't mean you're not a good soldier!"

"We in the medical team have seen how much work you've done in the disaster area this past month."

In terms of actual contribution, you're far superior to those new recruits who only run a few laps on the training field and practice drills!

"If those guys in the Sharp Knife Company insist on using your performance evaluation results as a basis for not wanting you,"

Zheng Guoliang paused for a moment, then his voice suddenly gained confidence.

"The doors to our medical unit are always open for you!"

"If others don't want you, our medical unit will warmly welcome you!"

"No, wait until you finish basic training, then come directly to our medical unit."

I'd like to see who dares to say you're not a good soldier!

Shen Yan blinked.

Why did he feel that the emotion he felt just now suddenly change completely?

Looking at Zheng Guoliang's "wholeheartedly considering your needs" expression, his nickname for Old Zheng inexplicably popped into his mind.

"Zheng is scheming!"

Upon realizing this, Shen Yan's eyes widened immediately!

Good guy!

Could it be that Lao Zheng had planned this all along?

Taking advantage of the shortage of medical personnel in the disaster area, he stayed behind in the medical unit.

Then he stayed there for a whole month, completely missing the final stage of intensive training in basic training.

If they are sent back only three days before the final assessment, their grades will definitely be affected.

If the elite detachment feels their graduation assessment results aren't good enough, Zheng Guoliang can step in and directly transfer them to the medical detachment!

The whole process was reasonable and justifiable.

Even Chen Gang couldn't find a reason to curse!

After all, disaster relief is the proper mission.

Shen Yan stayed behind out of obedience to orders.

Who can say that Zheng Guoliang deliberately delayed his training?

This is hardly poaching.

This was clearly a setup he casually orchestrated using the disaster to lure people away from the Sharp Knife Company, so he could come and rescue them later!

No wonder Xu Dashao from the medical platoon's mess hall called him Zheng the Calculator.

That old guy's calculations are way too far ahead!

However, Zheng Guoliang was destined to be disappointed.

He never expected that, although Shen Yan hadn't participated in the regular training of the recruit company for a month, his improvement speed was no slower than that of the recruit company!

It's even faster than when I was in basic training!

Transporting seriously wounded soldiers can improve load-bearing capacity and battlefield casualty evacuation capabilities.

Continuous handling of medicines and equipment can improve shoulder and back strength and core stability.

Patrolling through the complex terrain of disaster areas can improve endurance, coordination, and adaptability to complex environments.

The treatment of a large number of wounded soldiers has continuously improved his physical fitness and various military skills.

……

For other new recruits, their performance will definitely decline after a month away from the training ground.

But Shen Yan is different.

He's a cheater!

Zheng Guoliang's plan to recruit him into the medical unit is likely to fail!

Thinking of this, Shen Yan did not expose him.

Instead, he sighed in agreement, a hint of regret on his face.

"Zheng Lian is right."

"There are only three days left until the graduation exam. I've missed a month of training, so I'm afraid my results won't be very good this time."

Zheng Guoliang's eyes lit up slightly.

But he quickly suppressed that hint of joy.

You can't laugh yet!

If they laugh at this point, their intention to poach talent is all too obvious!

He coughed lightly, continuing to feign concern for Shen Yan's future.

"It doesn't matter if your grades aren't good."

"Your performance in the disaster area was outstanding. Our medical team can at least earn a collective second-class merit."

"You have participated in so many rescue, transfer and epidemic prevention work, and your personal performance has been outstanding."

In my opinion, it's not impossible for him to receive another third-class merit award!

The more Zheng Guoliang talked, the more sense it made.

Shen Yan had previously received a third-class merit award for rescuing his comrades.

Now, they have once again made contributions to disaster relief efforts.

A new recruit earned two third-class merit awards within just a few months of enlisting.

Which company wouldn't want a soldier like this?

Of course, it would be best if no other companies were included.

Leave it all to their medical corps!

Zheng Guoliang patted Shen Yan on the shoulder and said earnestly:

"If other companies don't want you because of one bad performance in an assessment, then they have no judgment!"

"You'll come to the medical unit then."

"I'll personally guide you!"

Shen Yan tried hard to control the corners of his mouth and nodded earnestly.

"it is good."

"If I really can't get into the elite unit, I will definitely give priority to the medical unit."

Upon hearing this, Zheng Guoliang felt completely reassured.

Steady!

I stayed with Shen Yan in the disaster area for a month, and it wasn't a wasted effort.

Although it cannot be explicitly stated that disaster relief efforts were used to poach people, the outcome was positive.

Why would such outstanding medical talent go to a top-notch medical unit?

Do those roughnecks know anything about medicine?

They don't understand anything!

Handing Shen Yan over to that group of people is a complete waste of talent.

The medical unit is still the best.

The job is a good fit for my major, I'm familiar with the environment, and the staff values me!

Zheng Guoliang became more and more satisfied as he thought about it, and he almost lost his composure.

He quickly turned around and pretended to check the medicine box next to him.

Shen Yan watched his retreating figure, feeling a sense of joy in her heart.

Old Zheng truly lives up to his reputation as a shrewd strategist.

The acting was quite convincing.

I wonder how surprised he'll be when he sees his results after the graduation exam in three days!

……

That noon, the medical team officially returned to their post.

After saying goodbye to Zheng Guoliang and the others, Shen Yan carried his luggage and headed to the recruit training camp.

The recruit company had already begun its afternoon training.

The dormitory building was empty, with only occasional commands coming from the training ground in the distance.

Shen Yan returned to the Class 2 dormitory and placed his backpack next to his bed.

I haven't been back for a month, and although no one has touched the bed, it's still gotten a bit dusty.

Without wasting any time, he first wiped the bed clean again, and then quickly tidied up the bedding, clothes and personal belongings.

In less than ten minutes, the bed that had been empty for a month was restored to its standard condition.

Shen Yan changed into his training clothes, put on his hat, and ran quickly toward the training field.

At this moment, Class Two is conducting physical training.

Gao Zhenhai was standing beside the track timing when he heard footsteps and instinctively turned his head.

When he saw that the person running towards him was Shen Yan, his face immediately lit up with joy.

The kid's finally back!

The medical unit went too far, directly transferring Shen Yan on loan for a month!

This is completely disrupting their training!

"Report!"

Shen Yan ran to the side of the line, stood at attention, and saluted.

"Recruit Shen Yan has completed his medical support mission in the disaster area and requests to return to his unit!"

"Return to the team!"

Gao Zhenhai acted almost without hesitation.

After Shen Yan joined the group, the smile on his face slowly turned into helplessness.

They've come back.

But we got back too late!

In three days, the recruit training camp will conduct its graduation assessment.

The other new recruits have been undergoing pre-assessment intensive training for the past month.

Physical fitness, drills, grenade throwing, basic tactics, and all other subjects were practiced repeatedly.

Where is Shen Yan?

I was busy in the disaster area for a whole month.

They didn't even touch the edge of the training field!

Zheng Guoliang's ulterior motives were obvious to Gao Zhenhai.

In addition, whenever Shen Yan was mentioned in meetings over the past month, Chen Gang would always criticize Zheng Guoliang.

"That old bastard Zheng Guoliang, he's holding onto people and won't let them go, is he?"

"The disaster area is short of medics, why not split him up into eight people?"

"Shen Yan was a soldier in my recruit training company, not his child bride from the medical unit!"

……

Scolds are scolded.

But Shen Yan had a mission, and no one could force him to return from the disaster area just for the sake of the recruit training's graduation assessment.

With only three days left, Zheng Guoliang finally agreed to release the man.

If you say that this old man doesn't have any thoughts of poaching people, even a dog wouldn't believe it!

Gao Zhenhai looked at Shen Yan, feeling somewhat worried.

A month ago, Shen Yan's grades were indeed very strong.

Physical fitness, weight-bearing, grenade throwing, drills, housekeeping, and regulations—there are almost no obvious weaknesses.

The worst thing about training is stopping for too long.

While you stagnate for a month, others are making progress.

With one gaining at the expense of the other, the gap naturally becomes apparent.

It will be very difficult for Shen Yan to continue to take first place.

However, given his foundation, even if his grades drop, he shouldn't fail.

Even if he can't get first place, as long as he can stay in the top ranks and not be at the bottom, the elite unit should still want him.

Thinking of this, Gao Zhenhai felt a little more at ease.

Three days is a short time, but every little bit helps!

In any case, we can't let Zheng Guoliang just pick him up so easily!

……

On the track, Wei Shanjia had just finished a set of sprint training.

He was panting heavily, supporting himself on his knees, when he looked up and saw Shen Yan walking into the group.

Wei Shanjia was taken aback.

Immediately afterwards, an uncontrollable smile appeared on his face.

"Shen Yan!"

"You finally decided to come back!"

He didn't even bother to rest, and quickly ran to Shen Yan's side, looking him up and down.

Shen Yan's skin was a bit darker than a month ago, and his face showed signs of fatigue from his busy work in the disaster area.

Apart from that, there doesn't seem to be much change.

Wei Shanjia felt even more confident.

He hasn't participated in regular training for a month.

There are only three days left until the graduation assessment.

This time, it should be my turn to turn things around, right?

Back when Shen Yan was in Class Two, Wei Shanjia was so stressed out by the daily pressure that he questioned his existence.

I can't outrun him in running, and I can't outrun him with weights.

The bombs were thrown so fast that they were completely out of sight.

Even in shooting, Wei Shanjia's current score is still far inferior to Shen Yan's score when he first touched a gun!

But after a month, things changed!

Shen Yan stayed in the disaster area.

He and Ga Wa, however, voluntarily added extra training every day, not daring to relax at all.

What's this called?

This is called overtaking on a curve!

It's like during summer vacation you play all summer, while your classmate attends two months of tutoring classes!

Once school starts, the sheer volume of exams will make you question your existence!

Thinking of this, Wei Shanjia deliberately sighed, a hint of regret on his face indicating that the victory was not honorable.

"Sigh, Shen Yan, you're back too late."

"I'll give you another two weeks, and I'm still willing to compete with you fairly."

"But there are only three days left."

"Even if I beat you in this final assessment, it would still be a bit of bullying!"

That's true.

But his mouth was practically stretched to his ears in a wide grin.

Where is there even a hint of embarrassment?

Shen Yan glanced at him.

"You're that confident?"

"Of course!"

Wei Shanjia immediately straightened his chest.

"You've been busy in the disaster area for a month, and we've been training for a month too."

"My 3,000-meter, 5-kilometer, and strength training events have all shown significant improvement over the past month."

"Before, you were always there beside me, so I never found my own training rhythm."

"Once you left, I felt more at ease!"

Wei Shanjia became more and more excited as he spoke.

"I'm definitely going to get first place in this graduation assessment!"

"Even though you've been keeping me in check, in this final assessment, I'll still come out on top!"

Ga Wa also came over during a break in training.

Unlike Wei Shanjia, who looked like he couldn't wait to celebrate, his expression was much calmer.

But the slight smile at the corner of her mouth couldn't be hidden either.

"Hey friend."

"Although Wei Shanjia is a bit of a blabbermouth and not usually very bright, what he said this time does make some sense!"

Wei Shanjia's smile froze.

"No, if you're going to praise someone, why do you have to insult me first?"

Ga Wa ignored him and looked intently at Shen Yan.

"While you've been busy rescuing people in the disaster area this month, the two of us haven't had a moment's rest either."

"Wei Shanjia is always thinking about surpassing you, and he trains like he's being chased by a wolf."

"I practice with him every day, and the version has been updated to be incredibly powerful!"

At this point, Ga Wa revealed a rare hint of confidence.

"It's uncertain whether Wei Shanjia or I will get first place in this graduation assessment."

"But the third one should be yours!"

Wei Shanjia nodded immediately.

"That's right!"

"This ranking is perfectly reasonable!"

"I'm first, Ga Wa is second, and you're third."

He reached out and patted Shen Yan on the shoulder, feigning to comfort him:

"But don't be sad."

"You've missed a month of training, so even if you use cheat codes for the next three days, you still won't be able to beat us!"

"Losing to the two of us isn't shameful!"

Shen Yan looked at the two overconfident guys in front of him and didn't know what to say for a moment.

Before he returned, how much did these two imagine on the training field?

Shen Yan stretched his shoulders, feeling the strength he had accumulated in the disaster area over the past month, and a smile slowly appeared on his face.

"You two are really confident!"
