The hospital is too busy, so I'm going to join the army and become a top soldier!

After the induction ceremony ended, the squad leaders quickly came over and took away the new recruits assigned to their squads.

An old soldier, around forty years old, with dark skin and broad shoulders, came to Shen Yan and the other two.

When Shen Yan saw the other person's face clearly, he immediately felt that the face looked somewhat familiar.

I feel like I've seen him somewhere before!

Before Shen Yan could remember, the veteran looked at him with a slight smile on his face.

"Shen Yan".

"We meet again!"

Shen Yan finally remembered.

I had met this old squad leader before when Chen Gang brought me to the elite platoon for target practice!

He even praised himself after scoring 149 points with 15 bullets.

To Shen Yan's surprise, the old squad leader was actually the squad leader of the first squad of the elite knife company!

Shen Yan immediately stood at attention and saluted.

"Hello, class monitor!"

The veteran returned the greeting and then extended his hand.

"My name is Luo Zhiyong, squad leader of the first squad of the elite company, and a fourth-term sergeant."

"From today onwards, the three of you are under my jurisdiction!"

Fourth-term sergeant?

Upon hearing these words, Wei Shanjia and Ga Wa's expressions immediately became much more serious.

Fourth-term sergeants are definitely true veterans in grassroots companies!

Not only do they have long service records, but their training and mission experience is also far superior to that of ordinary veterans.

Wei Shanjia and Ga Wa both stood at attention and saluted.

"Hello, class monitor!"

"Let's go."

Luo Zhiyong reached out and took a bag from Ga Wa's shoulder. "Let's take you back to the dormitory of Class One first, so you can get to know your other comrades."

"Class monitor, I can do it myself!"

Ga Wa quickly tried to retrieve the luggage.

Luo Zhiyong, however, had already started walking forward with his bag in one hand.

Ga Wa watched Luo Zhiyong leave and quickly followed him.

Wei Shanjia approached Shen Yan and lowered his voice to say:

"The veteran squad leader of the fourth term."

"It seems our Class One wasn't assigned randomly after all!"

Shen Yan nodded, agreeing to Wei Shanjia's request for the first time.

……

Class 1's dormitory is located at the very back on the second floor.

When Luo Zhiyong pushed open the door, all six veterans in the dormitory had already stood up.

Six pairs of eyes simultaneously fell on Shen Yan and the other two.

They had already heard about the new recruits' company assignments.

Chen Gang put the top three recruits in the new recruit graduation assessment into the first squad of the elite company!

Shen Yan ranked first overall.

Second Wei Shanjia.

The third child.

Shen Yan, one of the students, was a college student soldier at Fudan University School of Medicine. After enlisting, he made outstanding contributions and excelled in shooting, physical fitness, and tactics.

Before these three people even arrived at the dormitory, their resumes had already spread throughout the entire class.

"Put your luggage down first."

Luo Zhiyong pointed to the three seats that had been vacated in advance.

"When new and veteran soldiers meet for the first time, they shouldn't just stare at each other blankly."

"You three, please introduce yourselves first. Oh, and also tell us about your performance in basic training!"

Shen Yan was the first to step forward.

"Shen Yan, enlisted from Fudan University School of Medicine, ranked first in the final assessment after basic training. Please give me your guidance, squad leader and fellow veterans!"

Wei Shanjia then stepped forward.

"Wei Shanjia, from the School of Physical Education at Fudan University, is a national first-class athlete, specializing in middle- and long-distance running and physical fitness events!"

"Second place overall in the new recruit graduation assessment!"

When he mentioned the second point, his tone was slightly helpless.

After all, his second place finish wasn't due to a lack of ability.

The main problem is that the first place winner is really inhuman!

Finally, it was Ga Wa's turn.

The little boy scratched his head.

"My name is Ga Wa, I'm a local soldier from Xinjiang, and I ranked third in the overall assessment upon graduation from basic training."

"He's good at running on mountain trails, has a good sense of direction, and can throw stones!"

The dormitory was quiet for a moment.

An old soldier couldn't help but ask:

"Is throwing stones considered a special skill?"

Before Ga Wa could answer, Wei Shanjia began to explain in a serious tone.

"Ordinary people throwing stones doesn't count."

"His throwing of stones was a long-range precision strike!"

"Moving target, hit wherever you point!"

"Not long ago, someone was awarded a second-class merit!"

Upon hearing about the second-class merit award, the other veterans' breath caught in their throats!

Goodness, can this thing really do something useful?

Seeing the bewildered weight of the responsibility, Luo Zhiyong raised his hand.

"Alright, you six, stop just staring."

"Let's introduce each of the new students to our class!"

The veteran standing at the very front took the first step forward.

He was around thirty years old, not particularly tall, but stood very steadily, with calluses covering his palms and knuckles.

"Xu Guodong, deputy squad leader of the first squad, a third-term sergeant."

"I usually assist the squad leader in organizing training and managing dormitory affairs."

The introduction is very simple.

Luo Zhiyong, however, added a comment from the side.

"Guodong participated in the special forces selection twice, but unfortunately he was always just one step short each time."

"He's currently ranked first in our class's overall performance across all events, and this year will be his last chance to compete!"

Have you participated in two special forces selections?

Wei Shanjia's eyes lit up immediately.

Although he didn't pass in the end, Xu Guodong's ability to participate in the selection twice and even make it to the final comprehensive assessment the second time is enough to prove his strength!

This was the first real expert they encountered after joining the unit!

Xu Guodong noticed Wei Shanjia's gaze, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

Is he a first-class athlete?

This soldier is interesting!

The second veteran was rather thin and had a very calm gaze.

"Du Chengwu, second-term sergeant."

"Mainly responsible for the class's shooting, covert observation, and target identification training."

Luo Zhiyong continued his introduction:

"Chengwu is currently the record holder for the combined shooting events in our class."

"He excels at stationary targets, moving targets, night shooting, and rapid target acquisition in complex environments."

"Shen Yan, you two should have a friendly spar sometime!"

Shen Yan looked at Du Chengwu, a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

He is now very familiar with both stationary and moving targets.

But he hasn't tried the other items yet.

It seems I have a lot to learn from Du Chengwu in the future!

The third veteran was sturdy, and there were still traces of unwashed engine oil under his fingernails.

"Ma Huijun, second-term sergeant."

"Responsible for training in armored vehicles, vehicle-mounted reconnaissance equipment, and tactical communications."

After Ma Huijun finished speaking, he glanced at Shen Yan and the other two.

"I ranked first in the company's armored reconnaissance skills assessment for two consecutive years."

"If you have any questions about vehicles or theory in the future, feel free to ask me!"

Then, three other veterans stepped forward in turn.

"Liu Kai, focus on physical fitness and attack training."

"Song Yuan, you're in charge of communications support."

"Wang Guoqing, vehicle repair."

After all six people introduced themselves, the ten students in the class officially got to know each other.

Luo Zhiyong did not rush to have everyone tidy up the house. Instead, he leaned against the table and looked at Shen Yan and the other two.

"There's something I need to tell you in advance."

"Our elite platoon, platoon 1, is a bit different from the other platoons."

Wei Shanjia and Ga Wa immediately became serious.

"The first squad has always been responsible for training elite soldiers for the company."

"It's also the de facto special forces selection preparatory class!"

"Those in the company who are interested in participating in the special forces selection will usually come to the first class for training."

Upon hearing the word "special forces," the expressions on Shen Yan and the other two's faces changed simultaneously.

They chose the elite detachment precisely because they wanted to advance towards becoming special forces!

Class One is a special forces selection preparatory class, which is perfect for them!

"In addition, the training volume, professional requirements, and intensity of competition in our class are all higher than those in other classes."

"You getting first, second, or third place in basic training only proves that you have a good foundation."

"Having moved up to Class 1, all past grades are now zero!"

"We have no shortage of top-notch new recruits here, and we certainly don't lack people who were number one in their previous units!"

At this point, Luo Zhiyong pointed to the three beds that had just become vacant.

"Do you know why there are exactly three empty seats in Class 1?"

Wei Shanjia's excitement subsided slightly.

"Because all three new recruits who joined last year have dropped out."

"Two of them couldn't keep up with the comprehensive training and were moved to other classes."

"There was another one who was eager to prove himself, ignored the training arrangements, and increased the weight on his own. In the end, he injured his knee and dropped out of the class."

Luo Zhiyong's tone became serious.

"Our class is really competitive, extremely competitive!"

"But health is still the foundation of everything. If you ruin your health, you'll never have a chance to join the special forces again!"

When Ga Wa heard that Class One was very timid, he wasn't scared at all; instead, his eyes lit up.

"It's alright, old squad leader!"

"The three of us are pretty good at making money too!"

"Back in basic training, we'd get up early every day for extra practice!"

Upon hearing this, Xu Guodong, Du Chengwu, and Ma Huijun exchanged glances, and a smile appeared on their lips.

It wasn't that they thought the three recruits were incompetent.

How could someone who consistently ranks in the top three of the new recruits' graduation assessment be an ordinary person?

The training in the recruit company and the training in the elite squad are completely different concepts!

Xu Guodong looked at Ga Wa.

"The three new hires last year said similar things when they first came in."

"Now that those three are gone, there's a vacancy for you to fill."

Du Chengwu added casually.

"Just follow the normal training rhythm of the previous class."

"Once you catch up, we can discuss whether you can participate."

Wei Shanjia raised an eyebrow slightly.

Is it because they think the three of them might not even be able to keep up with normal training?

A feeling of resentment suddenly welled up inside him.

This time, however, Wei Shanjia did not rush to make any harsh statements.

Having been humiliated by Shen Yan so many times in basic training, he had learned a little lesson.

Whether you can keep up or not isn't determined by words.

The best way to respond is to prove them wrong once formal training begins and the results speak for themselves!

Shen Yan did not argue, but instead felt a sense of anticipation.

The more challenging the training and the more specialized the projects, the richer the medical knowledge the system can provide in return.

This place is a high-level experience zone!

"Alright."

Luo Zhiyong patted the table. "The beds have been prepared for you. Put your luggage down first."

"Then I'll show you around the company."

……

A dozen minutes later, the three of them tidied up their beds and personal belongings and followed Luo Zhiyong out of the dormitory.

The first stop is the physical fitness and obstacle training area.

The training ground has more than just horizontal bar, parallel bar, and regular track.

In the distance, there is a 400-meter obstacle course, a climbing wall, a rope crossing area, and a undulating weight training route.

Luo Zhiyong explained as he walked.

"Our class's daily physical training includes a 5-kilometer cross-country run with armor, a 10-kilometer endurance run, a 400-meter obstacle course, weightlifting, climbing, rope crossing, and short-distance weighted sprints."

"These things won't be practiced separately forever."

"Many times, we've just finished running five kilometers and immediately enter obstacle course and shooting range."

Upon hearing this, Wei Shanjia's eyes also lit up.

There are many physical fitness events and the training intensity is high.

This is more like the elite platoon he had imagined!

Only here can his physical potential be fully unleashed!

Shen Yan's focus was on continuous training.

Most of the training programs in the recruit company are conducted separately.

The elite unit will incorporate physical fitness, obstacle courses, shooting, and tactics into the same training route.

A more accurate assessment of a real task is whether the body can still perform the action stably when fatigued.

This combined training should allow you to gain more medical knowledge!

After leaving the physical training area, the group arrived at the tactical training field.

This area features simulated houses, trenches, mountain obstacles, camouflaged areas, and various types of observation points.

"The training here mainly focuses on individual concealment, infiltration in complex terrain, night marching, target search, observation and ambush, and reconnaissance team coordination."

"Du Chengwu is usually responsible for auxiliary training in shooting and observation."

Ga Wa looked at the simulated mountains and camouflaged areas in the distance, his interest clearly much higher than before.

He knows this mountainous area very well!

He has been practicing running mountain roads, recognizing directions, finding footprints, and even figuring out where his sheep have secretly hidden since he was a child!

The only difference is that before, they were looking for lost sheep and wolves eyeing the flock.

The enemy I'll be looking for in the future might be the one hiding!

There's not much difference!

Finally, Luo Zhiyong led the three into the armored vehicle training area.

A row of armored reconnaissance vehicles were neatly parked in the garage.

Wei Shanjia looked up at the vehicle in front of him, and the thought that "the elite detachment only knows how to train physical fitness" instantly disappeared from his mind.

Ma Huijun happened to follow along and patted the vehicle's exterior.

"We are an armored reconnaissance company."

"In addition to the basic training, you also need to learn vehicle structure, basic driving, onboard observation equipment, target ranging, in-vehicle communication, coordinate reporting, and simple troubleshooting."

"We need to learn when to advance by vehicle, when to disembark and approach covertly, and how to report coordinates and plan an escape route after spotting a target!"

The little boy was listening attentively just now.

After hearing the vehicle structure, coordinates report, and troubleshooting details, his expression gradually became somber.

Luo Zhiyong glanced at him and continued to deliver the final blow.

"During the day, we train in physical fitness, shooting, tactics, and armored vehicles."

"I still have to study theory tonight!"

"After all, our armored reconnaissance is not what it used to be, where we could just rely on our speed on foot!"

We need to keep up with the times!

"Anyone who can't read a map, can't report coordinates, and doesn't know how to use vehicles and reconnaissance equipment!"

"Then are you still considered a soldier in our armored reconnaissance company?"

The expectation on Wei Shanjia's face slowly froze.

There was also theoretical learning during basic training.

The main things to learn are basic regulations and simple military knowledge.

Now we have to learn armored vehicle structure, map mapping, tactical communications, intelligence interpretation, and coordinate reporting?

Just hearing these names made his head feel heavy!

"Aren't we here to join the army?"

Wei Shanjia muttered to himself, "Why do I feel like I've been accepted into another military academy?"

The little boy also looked worried.

"Hey friend, I have no problem finding my way around mountains."

"But you asked me to draw the mountains and roads on paper, and then write down a string of numbers..."

"The mountain might recognize me, but I don't recognize numbers anymore!"

Shen Yan stood silently to the side, a smile involuntarily creeping onto his lips.

For him, reading is much easier than physical exercise!

He didn't quite understand why Wei Shanjia and Ga Wa's faces would scrunch up like bitter gourds whenever they mentioned reading books and studying theories.

Learning, isn't that the simplest thing?

I never expected to find so many books to read here at the Sharp Knife Company!

The elite sniper unit is absolutely fantastic!
