Wang Jiuling stood up, turned around, and looked into the woods.

An old and desolate figure walked out.

It was Wang Chongyang.

But at this moment, Wang Chongyang seemed even older, his eyes were full of weariness, and his whole body exuded a sense of decay.

However, the malice in his eyes was gone.

"Grandmaster!"

Wang Jiuling first observed, then ran over to pay his respects with great surprise.

"Master! Your disciple has finally waited for you!"

Wang Chongyang looked at Wang Jiuling in front of him, his extremely old face full of complex emotions.

"Child, get up, there's no need for this!"

Wang Chongyang's voice sounded even older, yet it remained steady and powerful.

At that moment, footsteps sounded again behind them.

He is Master Yideng.

"Amitabha! Master Chongyang, it's been so long since we last met!"

Master Yideng said this to Wang Chongyang at this time, not to the madman who was following Wang Jiuling.

Wang Chongyang nodded to Master Yideng.

Wang Chongyang gestured for Master Yideng and Wang Jiuling to follow him to the front, and then sat down.

"Grandmaster..." Wang Jiuling looked at Grandmaster Chongyang in front of him with complicated emotions.

Wang Chongyang looked down at the "Huangting Neijing Jing" that Wang Jiuling had placed beside him. He covered his head, closed his eyes, and after a long while, he opened his eyes to look at Wang Jiuling and Master Yideng.

Before Wang Jiuling could ask, he took the initiative to explain.

"That day, I woke up in the lower secret chamber of the ancient tomb. I saw the Nine Yin Manual that I had left behind. I even felt like I was dreaming."

Because I clearly remember passing away in Chongyang Palace.

"I don't know what happened. I forgot."

"After returning, I secretly saw that the Quanzhen Sect had already held a funeral for me. At that time, I inexplicably thought that I might as well live in seclusion in Zhongnan Mountain and never live in the world again."

"I always thought I was fine, and I didn't even realize that I had forgotten so many things."

Wang Chongyang looked at Wang Jiuling with his cloudy eyes. At this moment, Wang Jiuling did not interrupt and listened quietly to Wang Chongyang's story.

"Child, until you venture into the ancient tomb in the back mountain to find what I left there."

"Things started to go wrong from that point on."

"I don't know why, but I actually believed your words about destiny."

"I sometimes have my own doubts, but I seem to believe you uncontrollably."

"I actually believed it was fate. I forgot that I am someone who doesn't believe in heaven or destiny."

"So I will teach you the Innate Skill."

"I never felt anything was wrong, but after you left Zhongnan Mountain, I suddenly felt bored and just followed you, just like when I taught you the Innate Skill."

Something was very wrong, but I didn't realize it.

Wang Chongyang's tired eyes revealed shock.

"Until we gradually moved away from Zhongnan Mountain and arrived in western Sichuan."

"It was only then that I realized something was wrong with me; I couldn't control myself from feeling malice towards you."

"I'm shocked and want to know what happened."

"When I realized that the further I got from Zhongnan Mountain, the less I could control myself, it was too late."

"I want to get away from you, I want to go back to Zhongnan Mountain, but I can't anymore, my mind is starting to wander."

"Later you joined Shaolin, and I..."

Wang Chongyang looked at Master Yideng. "When I wake up again, I will be fighting against Emperor Duan."

"I realized that the farther I was from Zhongnan Mountain, the greater the danger. I could only take advantage of my brief lucidity to remind Emperor Duan to return to Zhongnan Mountain."

Wang Chongyang frowned and covered his forehead again.

"I forgot what happened after that, I don't remember!"

He looked at Wang Jiuling. "I only remember that after you left Shaolin, I had several very brief moments of lucidity."

"I want to remind you to return to Zhongnan Mountain soon, but I can't get close to you, so I can only write this note to remind you."

"Child... in that forest, I didn't mean to harm you, and I don't know what I was doing..."

"I've forgotten many things..."

"If I hadn't come down the mountain this time, I probably wouldn't have even noticed these anomalies."

Wang Jiuling's eyes were a little red as he looked at Wang Chongyang, who looked exhausted. It seemed that the marks on his master's forehead still bore the marks of the day he had hurt him.

At that time, he would rather hurt himself than hurt Wang Jiuling.

"Master, didn't you encounter a problem during your practice? Like with the Innate Skill?"

When Wang Jiuling asked him the question, Wang Chongyang shook his head.

"I forgot!"

Master Yideng, who was standing to the side, seemed to be deep in thought. He appeared to have been prepared and took out the three Tibetan Tantric scriptures.

"Master Chongyang, do you still remember these things?"

Wang Chongyang picked it up, looked at it again and again, hesitating and recalling.

"I remember, but where did you find these?"

Wang Jiuling said, "Master, this is your former residence! There's a hidden compartment in the desk!"

Wang Chongyang was quite surprised to hear this.

"But these books were only ones I consulted when I was young; I did not keep them for myself."

Wang Jiuling asked again.

"Master, is it necessary to use internal alchemy techniques to assist in the practice of the Innate Skill?"

This question silenced Wang Chongyang, who looked at the Huangting Neijing Jing again.

"Maybe I need it?"

"I don't remember..."

Wang Chongyang was lost in his memories. Wang Jiuling and Master Yideng exchanged a glance, and both of them seemed to have some kind of guess in their eyes.

At this moment, four words kept flashing through Wang Jiuling's mind:

Split personality.

This is a term that only appeared in later generations.

In Wang Chongyang's account, he inexplicably woke up in an ancient tomb and did not remember having hidden any esoteric Buddhist texts.

Furthermore, the further he got from Zhongnan Mountain, the more out of control he became...

Wang Jiuling had a guess in his mind.

If Wang Chongyang developed a split personality at some point, perhaps due to practicing martial arts, or perhaps for other reasons, it is possible that...

The other half of her personality hid the esoteric texts and attempted to learn the "Phowa" method from the "Biography of Rechungpa"...

But these days, Wang Jiuling and Master Yideng have also studied it.

However, it's just a myth, and there's something about it that doesn't quite make sense.

Milarepa's Phowa practice uses the corpse of a pigeon.

If Wang Chongyang wanted to learn this broken tile technique, why did he have to keep targeting Wang Jiuling?

Why not just find any corpse?

The other two esoteric texts also contain some stories similar to the Phowa method.

There is also a story about a high-ranking monk who received a promise from someone that before the monk died, that person would voluntarily offer up his body so that the monk could be reborn in his body.

But it has to be that person's genuine willingness.

If he had to describe it, Wang Jiuling felt it could be described using a term from later online novels:

Furnace/cauldron.

Wang Jiuling recalled his research with Master Yideng over the past few days, and then thought about Wang Chongyang's behavior.

Could it be that they are using Wang Jiuling as a "furnace"?

If that's the case, then wouldn't teaching him the Innate Skill also be for this purpose? To cultivate a furnace or vessel?

Just now, Wang Chongyang said, "I don't know why, but I actually believed your words about the will of Heaven." "So I taught you the Innate Skill."

Recalling everything, Wang Jiuling went through it all in his mind.

Wang Chongyang suffered from a split personality for some reason without realizing it. His other personality wanted immortality, so he studied the methods in those esoteric Buddhist scriptures.

However, Wang Chongyang's original personality was unaware of this, and there might be something in Zhongnan Mountain that could temporarily suppress that personality.

For example, were there things in Zhongnan Mountain that Wang Chongyang was familiar with?

So, just like those with dissociative identity disorder, sometimes the secondary personality can influence the primary personality through "hiding" or even "suggestion".

Until he met Wang Jiuling, the alternate personality discovered that Wang Jiuling was suitable to be that "furnace".

So Wang Chongyang was actually influenced by his alternate personality, which led him to do all this?

This includes passing on his innate martial arts skills, intended to harm him...

Wang Jiuling's understanding differed from that of the ancients; people of this era lacked sufficient knowledge about personality disorder.

But Wang Jiuling was different; he pieced everything together and the more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

Why was Wang Chongyang's amnesia so severe? He even forgot that cultivating the Innate Skill required the use of internal alchemy techniques?

Furthermore, if it really is a split personality, what is the reason?

Is it due to innate talent? Or other factors?

Finally, there's the Phowa method and the furnace/cauldron, which are just mythological stories from Tantric Buddhism. The term "furnace/cauldron" was only coined by Wang Jiuling, a person from a later generation.

In the esoteric Buddhist narrative, it's just a complete story. Let alone Wang Chongyang, even if you randomly found a Quanzhen Taoist priest, he probably wouldn't believe it.

Even if Wang Chongyang had a split personality, he shouldn't have believed in this stuff...
