The undead have descended upon the world? I possess a sword that can cleave the heavens once more!

Looking at those young faces, Lin Qi couldn't help but recall the morning when he first stood before that pure white stone sword.

He had just joined the Bureau of Investigation at that time, and the day he joined happened to be a Monday.

Monday is the weekly Sword Stele assessment day.

At the time, he had only heard of the renowned name of the Investigation Bureau's Sword Stele, but he didn't know what the Sword Stele actually was, let alone what the Sword Stele assessment was, so he didn't think much about it.

However, when he was choosing which department of the Bureau of Investigation to join, he saw a special operations department that was independent of the other departments in the Bureau of Investigation and had a very cool and stylish name.

And the name of that department is—

Swordsman!

Lin Qi was immediately drawn to the name of the department and asked the official torchbearer who was in charge of registration on the spot.

Hearing his question, the official torchbearer was not surprised, but simply smiled and said, "Today, a total of ten new comrades are joining us, and you are the ninth to ask how to join the 'Sword Bearers'."

Hearing this, Lin Qi wasn't surprised: after all, the name "Sword Bearer" was indeed easy to attract the attention of young people like them who had just joined the Investigation Bureau.

The official torchbearer continued, "However, coincidentally, today is Monday, the day the Sword Monument is opened."

"Would you like to give it a try?"

"If you can pass the first three stages of the Sword Monument assessment, you can directly qualify to join the 'Sword Bearers'?"

At this point, the official torchbearer paused: "By the way, you might not know, but everyone in the 'Sword Bearers' department is a swordsman. They're all sword immortals who can fly on their longswords, not to mention how handsome they are."

"At the same time, their treatment is the best among all departments of the Investigation Bureau, and their resource supply is the most generous. They are even half a grade higher than other departments at the same level of professional title."

"Of course, on the battlefield, the swordsman is usually at the forefront and in the most dangerous place."

After listening to the description from the official torchbearer, Lin Qi understood that the so-called Sword Monument Assessment was an assessment used to select "Sword Bearers".

What was Lynch's reaction at the time?

Without saying a word, he said directly: "What else is there to say? Let's charge in, brothers!"

What kind of treatment and resources are best for him? Is that what he's after?

Compared to the sword immortals who fly on their swords, these are nothing!

As for going to the battlefield, to be at the forefront and in the most dangerous places?

He's already joined the Bureau of Investigation, why would he care about these things?

Upon seeing Lynch's presentation, the official torchbearer simply smiled and shook his head: "There's no one in the Investigation Bureau who doesn't want to join the 'Sword Bearers'."

"But now, the 'Swordholders' department still has the fewest members of all the departments. Do you know why?"

Lin Qi hurriedly asked for advice, because he really wanted to become a sword immortal!

The official torchbearer did not answer directly, but pointed to himself: "I have been a member of the Bureau of Investigation for several decades now."

"For the first twenty years of these decades, every Monday when the Sword Monument opened, I would wait at the foot of the Sword Monument to participate in the Sword Monument assessment."

"Twenty years, that's not a short time, is it? But what was the result?"

"I still haven't passed the Sword Monument test and become a Sword Bearer."

"I once heard a speech by a swordsman who said: If the Basic Sword Technique is a sword technique that everyone can learn and use to build a foundation."

"The Sword Canon is an all-encompassing, unparalleled sword technique suitable for everyone, where each person can find their own path in the sword!"

"But learning the Sword Manual is extremely difficult! It doesn't consider strength or resources; only those with true talent in swordsmanship can even begin to learn it!"

Lin Qi had heard of or even studied "Basic Swordsmanship," or rather, any normal person who had completed twelve years of compulsory education had studied "Basic Swordsmanship" as a required course.

But what exactly is this "Sword Canon," a sword technique that sounds incredibly powerful? What is its connection to the Sword Monument assessment and joining the ranks of sword wielders?

Lynch immediately asked the question.

The official torchbearer also gave the answer directly: the third stage of the Sword Monument assessment is the first level of the Sword Canon!

At this moment, Lin Qi also understood: only those who truly possess swordsmanship talent can enter the Sword Manual, pass the Sword Stele test, and become a swordsman!

For a moment, he couldn't help but doubt himself: although he had learned quickly in the compulsory "Basic Swordplay" course, the "Sword Canon" was completely different from the "Basic Swordplay" that anyone could learn. It was only for truly talented people, and was he really that kind of talented person? If he wasn't, then participating in the Sword Monument assessment would just be a waste of time.

At this moment, the official torchbearer noticed Lin Qi's hesitation and chuckled, explaining, "I'm saying this just to prepare young people like you mentally, so you won't break down because you can't learn the Sword Canon. The Sword Canon is indeed not something that ordinary people can learn."

"Also, I'd like to remind you that if you fail the Sword Monument assessment several times, don't waste so much precious time on it like I did. Wouldn't it be better to use that time to do something else?"

"Besides, even if we can't join the Sword Bearers by passing the Sword Monument assessment, it doesn't matter. Are the other departments in our Investigation Bureau any less capable?"

"Of course, it would be good to try it a few times. At least you can appreciate the vastness and profundity of the Sword Canon, after all, it is a treasure left by that supreme sword ancestor."

Upon hearing this, Lin Qi was immediately shocked: This "Sword Canon" was actually left behind by the supreme sword ancestor who cleaved the heavens and earth with a single sword for the human race and wiped out many alien races from beyond the realm.

Upon hearing this, Lin Qi immediately made up his mind: It seems that he absolutely has to go to the Sword Monument assessment today!

Whether he passes or not doesn't matter to him anymore; trying once won't take much time anyway.

But he had no choice but to taste the treasures left behind by that supreme sword ancestor!

Then, he sincerely thanked the official torchbearer in charge of registration, and followed the direction indicated by the torchbearer to the location of the sword monument.
